Once home to the great romantic poet Lord Byron, there is much to see and do at this picturesque site. All year round visitors can enjoy its stunning grounds. Visitors may also explore the historic house via guided tours. These take place on Sundays at 1pm and 2pm (subject to demand), last approximately one hour, and take place in the medieval cloisters, splendid Victorian room settings and even the private apartments of Byron. LIVING IN SILK EXHIBITION 31 MARCH - 16 SEPTEMBER NOTTINGHAM CASTLE CAA NAA www.mynottingham.gov.uk/livinginsilk Living in Silk is a major exhibition of outstanding silk garments, accessories and textiles, covering over two thousand years of Chinese silk production. The silk collection, which has never been seen in the UK before, is shown courtesy of the China National Silk Museum, Hangzhou and the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture, China. The exhibition also includes beautiful, newly-conserved Chinese costume and textiles from Nottingham City Museums and Galleries’ own collection. Some items haven’t been on display to the public for over 20 years and others have never been on show before! This special Nottingham element of Living in Silk has been created by a group of young people from across Nottingham, led by Illuminate, Nottingham Museums’ Young Arts Collective. The exhibition will uncover the stories behind the silk from a young person’s perspective. An exciting programme of talks, tours and live fashion events will run throughout the exhibition.
