WELCOME Welcome to another season of unmissable theatre at Nottingham Playhouse. We’re really privileged here at the Playhouse to get to tell some amazing stories and Pride and Prejudice has to be everybody’s favourite. This new production from one of the UK’s most skilled and irreverent comedians, Sara Pascoe, will leave you helpless with laughter and moved to tears. With its central themes of guilt, family and greed All My Sons could have been written for our times – directed by Associate Director Fiona Buffini it will remind you why Arthur Miller’s grasp of family relationships is simply unsurpassed. And finally, as the Two Ronnies would have it, Giles Croft’s final production as Artistic Director is The Cherry Orchard. One of those plays you expect to be “tricky” but that is actually buoyant, funny and affecting. We’ll all miss Giles very much (not sure which of the Ronnies he is) but what a swansong to pick. I can’t wait to see this masterpiece on our stage – our first Chekhov for many years. Thank you for your support of the Playhouse – we’re welcoming more of you than ever which is simply terrific. Thank you for your attendance, your participation and your donations to our charity. We couldn’t (and wouldn’t) do it without you.

Following an outstanding West End run, this unforgettable theatrical tour de force returns to Nottingham Playhouse, where it all began with its premiere in 2013. Based on Khaled Hosseini’s international best-selling novel and directed by Giles Croft, this haunting tale of friendship which spans cultures and continents, follows one man’s journey to confront his past and find redemption. Afghanistan is a divided country on the verge of war and two childhood friends are about to be torn apart. It’s a beautiful afternoon in Kabul and the skies are full of the excitement and joy of a kite flying tournament. But neither Hassan nor Amir can foresee the terrible incident which will shatter their lives forever.

The most famous love story our country has ever produced, yet the women don’t work, the servants don’t speak, and who cares how filthy rich Mr Darcy is when he is so arrogant and RUDE? Georgian England was a world where men had property whilst women had smelling salts and piano lessons. Lucky them. Elizabeth Bennet is witty and clever, has terrible manners and muddy shoes. But with no independence, is her ending actually happy? Or have we been distracted by Colin Firth and frilly shirts? If you've always heard people saying “Austen is so funny” and you never got it - you will now! In a brand new comic adaptation by stand-up comedian Sara Pascoe with an original score from Emmy the Great and directed by Susannah Tresilian (Director of Posh in 2015) prepare yourself for a playful, truthful and occasionally disrespectful* take on this brilliant novel. *Don’t be uptight about it, it’s what Jane would do.

If you had a secret that could tear your life and family apart, would you – could you – keep it hidden? Joe Keller is a successful businessman who lives with his wife Kate and son Chris in 1950s suburban America. Their only sadness, it seems, is the loss of their other son Larry, who went missing in World War II. After three years, Kate still clings to the hope that her son is alive. This fragile calm is ripped apart with the arrival of an unexpected visitor. Deep wounds are opened and the family have to confront the truth behind their comfortable lives. All My Sons is family drama at its best: gripping and powerful, and written by one of the greatest playwrights of the 20th Century, Pulitzer Prize-winner Arthur Miller (Death of a Salesman, The Crucible and A View from the Bridge). Exploring the dark side of the American Dream, it’s a story that has never been more relevant to our modern world. Director Designer Lighting Designer

Anton Chekhov’s last and greatest play, The Cherry Orchard, tells the story of a family on the edge of ruin and a country on the brink of revolution. When Ranevskaya returns to her country home - with its famous orchard - she is torn between its past and the future. By turns tragic and funny, this new version by Olivier Award‑winner Simon Stephens (A Doll’s House, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time), is both dynamic and profound. Giles Croft has chosen this masterpiece as his final production and first Chekhov - as Artistic Director, leaving an incredible legacy of productions including Polygraph, Rat Pack Confidential, All Quiet on the Western Front, The Ashes, Arcadia and The Kite Runner. Don’t miss Giles’ final bow at Nottingham Playhouse. Director Designer Lighting Designer Sound Designer

We can accommodate wheelchair users on row M of the main auditorium and in the Neville Studio. • Assistance dogs are always welcome. Please advise Box Office on booking to ensure your seating is accessible for yourself and your dog. • For people who benefit from hearing enhancement, headsets are available that are compatible with or without hearing aids. Please reserve your headsets with the Box Office when booking. • Patrons who require an assisting companion for their visit will receive the second ticket for free. This is only available for Nottingham Playhouse Company main stage productions.

RELAXED PERFORMANCES
