“
I am completely overwhelmed by the thoughtfulness and generosity of the Duxtucket Paddle Babes’ decision to donate to Neuroblastoma Research in honor of my 6-year-old niece, Lyla Theoharides. It means so much to know that money will be put toward this very important cause so dear to my heart.

A grant has been awarded to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Neuroblastoma Research Program in honor of Lyla Theoharides. The Duxtucket Paddle Babes Giving Circle, a group of avid platform tennis players from Duxbury and Nantucket, raised the funds for this grant after a successful PaddleTennis weekend in Nantucket this January. The weekend event has taken place for over thirty years and last year, the group decided to establish a Giving Circle to enhance their group activity. The group approached the Community Foundation for Nantucket to create a fund to add a charitable component to their annual competitive weekend. After two meetings of the Duxtucket Paddle Babes Giving Circle, this year the group decided to make a grant. The interests and opinions of the members were considered and discussed, and it was determined that a donation to DanaFarber Cancer Institute Neuroblastoma Research Program in honor of the niece of a long-time participant was a great way to spend their charitable dollars.
