ith the creation of Novelty Bride, Editor in Chief RebeccaMarie embarked on a new adventure in the bridal fashion industry by helping to create a magazine about fashion, photography, couture and wedding inspiration. Since the time RebeccaMarie could put on makeup and pick out her own clothes, she has been drawn to the modeling and fashion world. Motivated and inspired by great fashion magazines, she felt a growing desire to bring an artistic photography flare to wedding designs while inspiring a bride to imagine wearing a couture gown on her wedding day. The Art Issue of Novelty Bride is all about artistic flare and couture. Visiting global Bridal markets and meeting designers around the world has made this idea come together. The team at Novelty Bride hopes to captivate the imagination of fashionistas and brides-to-be alike, especially those who are planning their dream weddings.

with a shared passion, Yolanda and Cristina Pérez, started YolanCris to create haute couture bridal dresses, beautiful collections, and red carpet-worthy dresses. While the dresses could stand on their own, the collection wouldn’t be complete without the lace capes, jackets, and long-sleeved button-down shirts that fit flawlessly with the haute couture design of the collection. These pairings give the looks a finish that is truly unique. The runway fashion show ended with a dramatic deep V-neck tank ivory ball gown with a scoop back, complete with a gold crown and veil that trailed down the runway after the model. The finale was a look fit for a queen. The entire show was ethereal and inspiring. Seeing the dresses side by side in a picture with Yolanda and Cristina—the collections’ creators—the thread of cohesion is evident. Even with the variances in style lines and influence from a variety of fashion elements from different decades, YolanCris celebrates its 10th year with this, their capsule collection. BRIDAL BOOTAMP We all want to look our best when we don our white dress, but we also face a common struggle: where do we start? With all of the pills, programs, and protein powders available, how do we choose one that really works? Rules for Real Results 1. It’s just physics-- calories matter. You’ve heard about counting calories or points. You may have also heard that counting strategies don’t work, but the fact is, losing weight comes down to math-- calories in minus calories out. It’s a proven and straightforward template for reaching your weight goals, and no matter how weight loss plans are marketed, in reality they all operate on this premise-- even if they do so in ways that seem different, like using the glycemic index rather than calorie content to shape your diet. 2. Losing weight is as much a challenge for the mind as it is for the body. Scientists now know that there are genes that affect your

thoughts and feelings about food, as well as where you gain or lose weight, and at what pace. Losing weight through proper diet and exercise will test your mettle at times, so having a psychological strategy to compliment the physical one you choose is key. The best way? Involve your friends and family. You’ll be surprised how much they influence your habits and overall health. 3. Diet and exercise work hand-in-hand. I resisted dieting for years, but one day, I stepped on a scale and realized exercise alone wasn’t cutting it. Despite working out six days a week, I had hit a plateau. Even more importantly, I didn’t feel like my bubbly, energetic self anymore. Keeping a food journal showed me I was eating far more than I realized, and sabotaging my hard work at the gym. 4. Make realistic goals. I truly believe that you are capable of obtaining the figure of your dreams, but keeping that figure requires
patience. Losing more than about 2.5 pounds per week triggers a hormonal reaction that slows your metabolism and boosts your appetite. Most people who push themselves beyond this threshold ultimately gain more weight than they lose, so don’t plan to lose twenty pounds in time for your wedding if your big day is only a month away. 5. Keep track of your progress. One of the oldest tried-and-true strategies for teaching yourself how to live a healthier life is journaling. It’ll reveal what you’re doing wrong before you change your lifestyle, and remind you how much progress you’ve made when you need encouragement. Pen and paper work well, but a plentitude of new apps and hardware may be an even better option for brides on the go. Not sure where to start? Check out FitBit, DietBet, and Google+ Fit to test out some of the most popular options on the market. The Nitty Gritty: The Diet and Exercise Plan First things first: you’re going to need cardio. Running, swimming, and cycling are the trifecta. They burn the most calories in the least amount of time, and believe it or not, distance running is what our bodies evolved to do. If you’re dealing with certain limiting factors, speed
walking (or regular walking) or rowing might be better starting places.Whatever you do, do it at least five times every week-- our hearts are healthiest when they get a little action at least that often. Whenever possible, spend at least 45 solid minutes doing your activity of choice, and try to keep the intensity level high enough that you have to breathe in the middle of your sentences when you talk. Adding a few moves like lunges, push-ups, and core strengthening exercises can also enhance the effectiveness of your routine because building muscle boosts your metabolism, and core work makes you look slimmer instantly. Next, you’ll need a diet. Calorie counting is probably the most surefire and straightforward do-it-yourself method, so that’s what I’ve outlined here, but if you want to stop here and look for a paid membership program like Weight Watchers, by all means, do. Such programs not only guide their members with the same kind of information that you’re getting in this article, they also come with a built-in support group, which boosts success rates enormously. However, if you’re a do-it-yourselfer, you’re on a budget, or you just don’t have access to something like Weight Watchers in your area, you can build your own diet program. The average woman should start
by eating about 1800 Calories per day for weight maintenance. Limiting your junk food intake to about 200 Calories’ worth per day will help make the most of your calorie budget by helping you pick more satisfying foods throughout the day without taking all the fun out of eating. For six days each week, you’ll need to stick to your calorie plan, but on the seventh, you should give yourself a day off from dieting. This gives you an opportunity for social eating and helps you keep your sanity, and even serves another surprising function: due to the human body’s evolutionary history, it’s built to adapt to dietary stress by slowing down its metabolic functions. Having a cheat day actually tricks your body into keeping your metabolism running at a healthy click. Lastly, a few simple tricks will help your journey to health be a happy one. Here are the most important things I’ve learned about taking care of myself while getting fit: -Ask someone you’re close to be your fitness buddy. The
solidarity and accountability achieved by teaming up with a friend increases success rates and morale more than any other tool tested by scientists. -Focus on the now. People who focus on the immediate benefits of diet and exercise achieve more success and fulfillment through their fitness strategies than people who focus on far-off goals, and even find ways to make fitness fun. -Talk to your doctor. Your circumstances, even if they seem ordinary, can change the way diet and exercise affects your body. -Forgive yourself for your imperfections. We all make mistakes and fall short of our goals from time to time, but treating each day as an opportunity rather than an obligation will increase both your success and your satisfaction. You’re at the time of your life when you need to ask a friend or family member to play a time-honored role for your big day. With all smiles, you ask your BFF to be your maid of honor or bridesmaid, only to have her start asking questions. How much will it cost? Will she be responsible for paying for the bridesmaid’s dress? The shoes? The hair and makeup? The bachelorette party? The bridal shower? Will the wedding be close to home or a destination wedding? By the end of the litany of questions, she is left breathless and panicked and you are fuming. How does she have the nerve?!? It’s an honor for her even be asked to be part of my wedding, you may think.
While your potential MOH may not react like this, these questions are entirely valid. You, as the bride, are prepared to spend money to make your wedding what you’ve always dreamed of, whether your budget is worthy of a celebrity affair or modest. Your potential MOH and bridal attendants may not have the ability to follow suit to make it the wedding you want. Just remember, having a happy wedding isn’t about getting everything exactly the way you’ve dreamed since you were 10, it’s about enjoying the day with your family and friends, and most of all with your partner. The Vaka Mau Lai Lai brings simplicity and beauty to the momentous occasion, rich with Fijian traditions. The sound of conch shells signals the wedding procession, and Fijian warriors carry the bride to the altar, where the setting sun creates the perfect backdrop for the waiting groom. The couple will celebrate their vows with the cutting of the wedding cake, champagne, and may choose to enjoy either a personal wedding feast for two on the pier, or a banquet to share with a small group of friends and family, erenaded through dinner by the Bula Band Boys. Vaka Mau Levu Should the happy couple prefer a larger celebration, the Vaka Mau Levu is the perfect option. Fijian warriors escort the groom to the altar, with the beating of the lali, a wooden drum, and the singing of the choir indicating the beginning of the ceremony. The groom is accompanied by Fijian warriors to the altar decorated with exotic flowers and palm fronds.
