Entertainment spirit on the upswing
The 2022 financial year was marked by an upswing for the NOVOMATIC AG Group with the COVID restrictions already falling in all markets at the beginning of the year, targeted investments in new product developments and technologies as well as their superior quality and excellent performance.
The successfully implemented consolidation and efficiency improvement measures also contributed to an increase in Group turnover. This rose from EUR 1,842.3 million in the previous year to EUR 2,859.9 million (+55.2%) in the reporting year. In the Gaming Operations segment, revenue increased from EUR 1,034.1 million to EUR 1,785.5 million (+72.7%) in 2022. The Gaming Technology segment also recorded significant growth from EUR 806.2 million to EUR 1,072.4 million (+33.0 %) due to increased demand for NOVOMATIC products. NOVOMATIC Executive Board Member Ryszard Presch summed up the developments: “The high quality of our new products and their excellent performance not only led to excellent feedback from our international customers, but also had a positive impact on all business areas in the Group.”
Global growth
NOVOMATIC was also able to successfully continue its international expansion course in 2022 through several smaller acquisitions in various markets, as well as the strategically important majority acquisition of the Italian HBG Group – as one of the largest transactions in the company's history. This made NOVOMATIC one of the largest concessionaires and operators of VLTs and AWPs in Italy. The acquisition also increased the number of fully consolidated subsidiaries in the group to a total of 211 and, as a result, the number of employees worldwide, which currently amounts to 23,900.
The company has also recorded continuous growth in the US market with its US subsidiary NOVOMATIC Americas. The successful participation at the G2E in Las Vegas with premium products and innovative solutions for the various segments of the US and international gaming markets contributed to this.
Greentube, NOVOMATIC's Digital Gaming & Entertainment Division, has also recorded strong growth in market share in the online sector through targeted acquisitions, for example in the UK market. NOVOMATIC Executive Board Member Ryszard Presch said: “NOVOMATIC was able to successfully continue its international expansion course in the reporting year and to celebrate sustainable milestones in 2022.” Top rankings in international Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) ratings by leading rating agencies were also a pleasing result of the Group's strong commitment to aligning corporate activities with Group-wide sustainability goals.
