Pagodas packed with devotees in Nay Pyi Taw on Fullmoon Day of Tazaungmon
Monday, 18 November, 2013 Nay Pyi Taw, 17 Nov—The sky on the Fullmoon Day of Tazaungmon is more pleasant than the fullmoon days of other months, and pagodas, stupas and monasteries across Nay Pyi Taw Council Area were crowded with Buddhist devotees doing meritorious deeds. A ceremony to mark the successful holding of the 46th Maha Parittas recitation ceremony took place at the cave of Uppatasanti Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw today. Members of the Sangha were offered day meals and lights lit at the Pagoda. Likewise, Phayakoesu, Koekhamgyi, Yanaungmyin Shwe Latt Hla, Da-
tusaya and Thatta Thattaha Maha Bawdi Pagodas and Maha Myat Muni Buddha Image in Nay Pyi Taw were also packed with devotees making good deeds. Flower and light-offering ceremonies were held at Datusaya Pagoda and Maha Myat Muni Buddha Image at night. Moreover, charity fairs were also organized at Nay Pyi Taw staff quarters wards. Tazaungmon is the eighth month of the twelve monthly festivals in Myanmar. The word “Tazaung” lights and the word “Mon” means convey. So, Tazaungmon means the month in which lights are lit.—MNA

Vice-President Dr Sai Mauk Kham attends Profile of President H.E. Mr. Tsakhiagiin Kathina robe offering in Taunggyi Elbegdorj of Mongolia Mr. Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj was born on 8th March 1963 in Zereg Sum, Khovd Aimag, Mongolia. He received a Bachelor degree in Journalism from Lviv University, Ukraine in 1988 and Master degree in Public administration from Harvard Kennedy School of Government, MA, USA in 2002. He served as private and sergeant in the People’s Army of Mongolia, Head of branch, Union of Revolutionary Youth from 1982 to 1983. He was Journalist at the newspaper “Ulaan od” (Red Star) from 1988 to 1990. He became the leader of the Mongolian Democratic Union from 1989 to 1991. In 1990, he was an Editor-in-Chief of “Ardchilal” (Democracy) newspaper. He has been elected 4 times as a
member of the State Great Khural in 1990, 1992, 1996, 2008. He became a Vice Speaker of the State Great Khural in 1996. He became a Prime Minister of Mongolia in 1998 and also from 2004 to 2006. He became a President of Mongolia since June 18, 2009. He has elected again as President for the second time on 26th June 2013. Mr. Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj is married to Mrs. Bolormaa Khajidsuren, they have five children.

Then, the Vice-President attended the 66th communal Maha Kathina robe offer-
ing held at Atula Marazein Sutaungpyae Pagoda and presented Kathina robes and offertories to members of the Sangha led by State Ovadacariya Agga Maha Pandita Maha Kamathanacariya Presiding Sayadaw of Soonloon Monastery Bhaddanta Agga Dhammabhivamsa.
On his arrival at Wailuwun Pariyati Sarthintaik in Kyaungyisu ward, the Vice-President donated cash and kind and offered day meals to the presiding Sayadaw and monks. The Vice-President, the Chief Minister and wellwishers donated K 48
million to build new Panglong building and Loilem Beikman building, for the funds of Shan Pitikat Monastery in Panglong and to interpret Shan Pitikat. In the evening, the Vice-President and party flew back in Nay Pyi Taw via Heho.—MNA
