Anika Duncan

About Me My name is Anika Duncan. I am currently a senior at Lakeside High School and take Advertising and Graphic Design 2 at National Park Community College. I love to listen to music and pick up singing every now and then. I like to describe myself as a fun person who loves going on fun adventures around the world. I like my designs to reflect my personality and often find myself sketching outside of class, so you could call me an artist as well. I personally want to major in Marketing and a minor in Graphic Design.

Identity Personal Branding and Logo My logo shows my name as well as my personality. I chose fun colors and geometric shapes. The triangle in my name indicates the first letters of my first and last name “A” and “D.” I tiled the forms and made them look cohesive.

Elements of Design Design Poster

For this project, we took our cameras outside and took pictures that represented each Element of Design. I thought of many ways to incorporate seven elements into something unique. I began to draw the seven continents and realized design is all over the world, so I worked the map into the main design. I loved this project and the end product, and I think it shows something different.

Andy Warhol Inspiration Poster This poster was inspired by no other than Andy Warhol. He is such an icon and has been for many centuries. We were told to create a piece using Photoshop that shows his style and inspiration. I chose a picture from an online magazine and utilized mostly cool tone colors while still incorporating warm accents.

Candy Cane Card Christmas Fundraiser Around Christmas of 2017 our objective was to incorporate a candy cane into a design to put on a card. I searched high and low to find the perfect words to use that were still relevant and were cute. I ended up going back and forth in Illustrator using the different color palette and came up with using red tones. I enjoyed working on this project a changing it up.

Glow Run Imagine Poster We created this flyer for a local Glow Run for the Center for Art & Education in Van Buren, AR. I wanted running to be a focal point but also using a shoe. In Illustrator I was able to maneuver the text how I wanted to. We had to use the word Imagine in some way for the company hosting it as well as incorporating CAE logo in it. I love the final product using the rainbow and fun text interpretation.

T-shirt Design Graphic Design Creating a Tshirt for our NPTC Skills USA fundraiser helped me figure out what kind of branding and logo representation I wanted to use. I decided to go with the classic spray paint can and use complementary colors while working them into the design such as NPTC and Skills USA logo.

Typography Smile:) For this project, we were to all chose a word and using many different steps in Photoshop to achieve the end product. I played around with different words and thought that “SMILE would not only be a right and challenging word but also a word that shows me a lot as a designer. The picture that blurred is the background is a sunset above water, but I loved the colors so much and knew I needed them in my design.

Band Poster Justin Timberlake For this project, I wanted to do Justin Timberlake and show an older version of him. The objective was to pick any band and remake a poster for an upcoming or previous show. I used Illustrator to complete this project. I decided to go with a watercolor look showing through his tux and the silhouette of his body.

KUHS T-shirt T-shirt Design A local non-profit radio station reached out to our Graphic Design program to help them create a new logo that shows their representation and station. I chose to go with a microphone and make it work in any color of any t-shirt to show my logo being versatile.

Little Rock, AR Photography One morning in North Little Rock, AR my family and I took a trip around the downtown area, and I had to bring my camera. I captured the “Riverfest Stage” where some of the most iconic artists have performed. We also took a trip to the ‘Old Mill” which was featured in some of the first scenes of the movie “Gone with the Wind.”

Oaklawn Fireworks Photography Fourth of July 2018, we took our annual trip to Oaklawn Racing and Gaming to watch the fireworks. I remember the last year I went I did not get to capture the beautiful display. This year, I took the opportunity and captured the final firework burst. I wanted the focal point to be left centered but still have the balance on the right.

Virgina Beach, VA Photography Summertime rolled around, and we took a trip to Virginia. Sitting out in the sun the beach was empty, which is rare. I took a moment to enhance the waves crashing to shore and brought out some of the blues I saw. I wanted to capture the sun setting at the local go-cart track. I noticed when capturing this photo how the value and shade took place.
