Hello!
My name is Emily Talos and I am a level two graphic design student at National Park Technology Center. I want to become a functioning member of society, a designer and freelance artist. I have been told most of my life that art and design aren’t actual careers and that it would be better suited if I became a doctor or a lawyer. But through thick and thin, art was always a part of who I was and who I have become.
Pop Art and Warhol Project
We were studying the pop art style and Warhol as part of our history unit, and we’re assigned to find a famous person or someone we admire to use as our model. I chose Jennifer Lawrence because her personality is so open and that is something I admire so much. I used the Warhol effect to kind of give a modern retro vibe to my piece.
Personal Logo I was looking for a logo that represented me as a person and my style as an artist. Of all my logos this was the one I felt a stronger connection to because as an artist I am constantly comparing myself and striving to be better.
Graphic Design T-shirt Our SkillsUSA group each designed t-shirts that were supposed to represent graphic design and in a creative and fun way. I felt this shirt design was a fun twist on graphic design and my style. I used geometric shapes to represent the practical and logical side of graphic design. The face represents the individuality and the uniqueness that comes with being a graphic designer.
Backgrounds I enjoy using Photoshop a lot. I love going on and discovering new things and that is how my newist hobby happened. I use the painters mode on photoshop to create backgrounds that pop and fit my style. It also acts as an almost Zen activity, because it is so soothing watching colors blend and become something new.
Photography
My photography was actually inspired by my older sister. She was always so good at taking pictures and because the way I grew up I strived to become better than her. So I naturally took interest in photography and observing everything. Photography also serves as a refrence for colors in my traditional art and an asthetic.

This was a recent painting of a cat for my host brother from my time in Japan. It is done in acrylic and while not perfect I approched the idea with the more abstract mentality than hyper realism.
This is a breadth peice I did for AP- Art, it was at the start of the year and I was struggling due to my over comparitive self. I needed a simple flowy peice to just let loose on. Ths was done in watercolor and graphite.

This is a bookmark comision. There was a total of twenty-three bookmarks, but shown above are the ones that turned out the best artistically and stylistically. I had some minor limitations due to space and the fact I used watercolor.
This is a short and quick painting I did to help me utilize flow and form as well as help relieve a lot of stress and frustration that had built up. The people shapes are inspired by a family member who holds a huge place in my life. I also wanted to experiment with balance and placement.

This a watercolor and acrylic painting I did of myself for the current Inktober.
This is a watercolor and acrylic painting that too was made for Inktober.
This is another of my breadth’s, it is watercolor and scratch art paper. I cut strips from the water color background and wove the trees into it then pasted the edges onto a gray paper.
