CREATE A POSTER DISPLAYING THE ELEMENTS OF DESIGN This poster was meant to display each element of design from photos I took myself. My class was set loose to find objects to take photos of around campus or recent photos in our galleries that clearly displayed a certain element such as shape, space, line, form, color, texture, or value. Each photo had to be labeled clearly and arranged in a visually interesting manner. I wanted my design to utilize the white space around my photos and to draw the viewers eye across the page from the top down.

CREATE A BAND POSTER FOR A FAVORITE BAND This project was a very fun one with the objective of creating a new poster for my favorite band. I chose a band I’ve loved for years who go by the name Nero. The criteria for the project was basically just to capture the essence of the band and create an interesting design. Nero has a very futuristic techno vibe in all of their songs and most of their existing posters are abstract and dark so I continued that theme with my own poster. I used a picture of the band members and used the pen tool in Illustrator to recreate their logo for my poster.

CREATE A PERSONAL LOGO For this project, I designed a logo and branding style guide for myself. I made several thumbnail sketches and mockups to explore different ideas that I might want to represent myself and my style, and overall chose the design that showed the most creativity and originality. After creating the logo itself, I made several variations with color and text and applied them to a style guide sheet and the mock up shown above of how my logo would look on products.

CREATE A MUTANT ANIMAL I created this image in Photoshop using five different pictures. The project demanded that I found four pictures of animals that I could combine with similar stances and positions in the photos. I combined a bison, a newfoundland dog, a jaguar, and a gold eagle in my mutant animal. The fifth photo had to be the type of climate I imagined my animal would live in, and I chose a colder heavily wooded area. I used the clone stamp tool and the dodge/lighten tools for most of this project.

CREATE A TSHIRT FOR CLASS For this project, everyone in my design class created a tshirt to be worn during fundraising events and events that have to do with our SkillsUSA club. The requirements for the shirt were that it had to say Graphic Design, SkillsUSA, and the name of our college program. I wanted to make Heni netusam facil elignis exceperitia qui something pretty interesting but professional and omnis por mod et reperum que enis ad qui ut had a lot of fun creating this design. voluptae si di dipidel magnimi nciminus, con restemperi diam, eaque et officid ellaut aut estem nia consequi blatem errum aut qui dolorem litaepr eperatusciat minverio veles ab inciis enet volor rehenim qui aut ex ent estia con exerit re nos ea in restrum arum d

Principles Of Design by Camryn Gulledge

CREATE A POSTER DISPLAYING 12 PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN This poster was meant to show 12 principles of design, including: three types of balance, contrasting color and size, hierarchy in typography, repetition, proximity, alignment, directional force, movement, and space. Each individual principle we designed had to be composed with similar elements we had put together, like the snake, marble pattern, flower image trace, and the quote used throughout my designs. The poster as a whole had to feel balanced and like it was meant to be put together even though I created each design for the principles on their own. On top of all this, each principle was paired with a certain tool in Illustrator that had to be used while making the design, such as the step and repeat tool in the radial balance design. A gradient was required in the symmetrical balance design, and the pattern tool had to be utilized in the design for space.

CREATE A POSTER REPLICATING ANDY WARHOL This project description was to recreate an iconic Andy Warhol design by using the same editing techniques on Photoshop to create the bold contrasting colors that Warhol uses. The poster had to include a date and place to make the poster seem like an advertisement for an art exhibition for Andy Warhol.

CREATE A POP ART POSTER This project was made right before the previous Andy Warhol project, and uses the same photo. For this project, I followed youtube tutorials on how to create a pop art style in Photoshop by using filters and styles. For both of these projects I used a photo of a singer and creator I love very much, Robyn. I added slightly dramatized shiney spots in her eyes to make the poster seem more cartoonized.

CREATE AN ANIMAL OUT OF TRIANGLES For this project, I found a copyright free image of a bluejay and used the pen tool to create triangles over certain colors and shapes in the image. The criteria required the use of the pen and fill bucket tool to create some type of polygonal animal. Although the project rubric suggested we place the animal into a background, I decided that my animal would look better contrasted to a plain red background rather than a triangular forest or tree that would complicate the design as a whole.

CREATE A DESIGN FOR A LAPEL PIN FOR A COMPETITION This design was made for a SkillsUSA competition requiring the year, the state, and the organization SkillsUSA. I made several mockups of this design that all had similar elements and a professional, simple style. I wanted to use the colors black and gold to create a slick and professional pin design that wouldn’t be too complicated for a small 1x1” pin. I presented by design to a judge in person and although my design wasn’t chosen as the winner, I still learned a lot of professional practices from the experience.

CREATE A NEW LOGO FOR A LOCAL RADIO STATION My design class was approached by a local radio station to redesign their logo and rebrand their station. The criteria for the design were only that we must include the station name and the number 102.5. The clients told us some information about their station including the general feeling of what they play and that it’s on 24/7. I wanted to emphasize on the fact that they are a bit retro and a radio station, hence the triangle and headphones in my logo.

TRADITIONAL PAINTINGS This is a self portrait created for my AP Studio Art class as a breadth piece. I spent a considerable amount of time sketching the shape of the face to make sure everything was in the right place and right size then settled down for a few hours and painted this 16x20 acrylic piece.

DIGITAL AND ACRYLIC BREADTH PIECE This was the first breadth assignment I completed for my AP Studio art class. I painted clouds on an 11x14 canvas board in acrylics then digitally added the red area at the bottom and then the figure to draw the viewers eye around the piece a bit more and add some visual interest. I wanted to create a mix between realism and a surreal landscape with red lines.

HEART IN THE ROOM This is another breadth piece for class. I wanted to paint my bedroom in a simplified manner from an interesting perspective. I used a limited color pallette with small areas of color to add interest. Done in acrylic on an 11x14 piece of paper.

HANDS IN GRAPHITE Another breadth assignment for class done on an 11x14 piece of paper and done with graphite pencils.
