LOCAL COMMITTEE PRESIDENT Dear new member, It is a pleasure to welcome you to and to introduce you an amazing organization that has taught us a broad range of skills and knowledge while realizing a life-changing experience together with students from all over the world. This guide will contribute to your understanding of and I hope that some of you remaining questions regarding will be answered: - What are we doing? - Why are we doing it? - How are we doing it?

Having taken the first step into the organization in the last weeks, it is now up to you, how much YOU will gain and what YOU will experience in the next months and year. ABOUT US

AIESEC HISTORY

What began in 1948 as an organisation to help develop „friendly relations“ between member countries is now a global association with activities in 107 different countries and territories. The founding members of AIESEC started to build the organization between 1946 and 1948 but a clear identity was only defined in 1948 and later in 1949 at the Stockholm Congress. 89 students participated in the Exchange Program in 1949 and Exchange was defined as the core activity of the organization. In the coming years more and more countries joined the network and AIESEC became global in a very short period by being present on all the continents. The number of students and organizations involved in the exchange program grew rapidly and constantly, reaching 2467 exchanges by the end of 1960 and 4232 by the end of 1970. Seminars were first introduced as part of the trainees‘ reception experiences, in a proposal from AIESEC in Germany in 1961. It was well received by other countries, and a general set of seminar topics to be addressed was proposed and accepted. They were mainly economic in nature, and for the first time AIESEC was addressing specific issues in its activities - stated clearly in a non-political way. At the 1974 International Congress in Bordeaux, an important motion was passed: the minimum length of an Exchange traineeship had to be 6 weeks. This measure improved the quality of our Exchanges. In 1976 an International Theme Programme was established that focused all international, regional, and local seminars on specific topics. This idea continued and grew through various stages.

AIESEC HISTORY

After this the focus of the organization was on addressing global themes besides the traditional Exchange Program. Themes like International Trade, Management Education, Sustainable Development, Entrepreneurship and Corporate Responsibility were discussed at local, national and global seminars. In the late 90‘s the discussion about the relevance of the organization brought the Exchange Program back on the main agenda and more and more effort was put in ensuring growth in this area. Information systems were developed to make the process faster and easier. As the focus of the organization was the eXchange program again, the number of exchanges started to grow.

Looking for more relevance, nowadays AIESEC is the international platform for young people to explore and develop their leadership potential. The innovative approach of AIESEC to developing young people focuses on taking a proactive role, developing self-awareness and a personal vision, building networks, and developing capacity to drive change. We do this through an international platform of opportunities that provides over 8,000 leadership opportunities, 7,500 work abroad opportunities, 470 conferences, and virtual tools to build networks.

AIESEC LC SKOPJE HISTORY

AIESEC Skopje was formed as part of the AIESEC Yugoslavia in 1953. In 1993 AIESEC Yugoslavia was finally shut down because the Yugoslavian federation did not exist anymore. This is how AIESEC Macedonia was born as an independent organization~ which became full-time member of the AIESEC International. During its long existence AIESEC Skopje transformed into one of the most active and successful student organizations in the Republic of Macedonia whose headquarters is in the Faculty of Economics - Ss. Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje. Since its founding AIESEC Skopje has cooperated with up to 500 Macedonian and international companies - organizations. We have long-term experience of organizing and implementation of the student exchange program which helps our city to get closer to the world.

Leadership opportunities that we are offering, positioned our organization and our Local Committee as a leadership skills developing spot that can help , young people to find themselves as future leaders and successful individuals. AIESEC Skopje has realized over 500 projects cooperating with the Macedonian companies which have employed many of the students that showed knowledge, skills and abilities that were useful for their company. Many students have also got employed by international companies and became part of the successful story. Today, AIESEC Skopje has over 100 active members who are working very hard in the implementation of the student exchange program and many other projects which makes AIESEC Skopje one of the best student organizations in Macedonia and beyond .

ELD PROGRAMME ENGAGEMENT WITH AIESEC

Engagement with AIESEC can mean two things. One is that you come to events organized by us and have a connection with us that can be also loose in its nature. The other one is that you want to be more involved with the organization and after getting to know us better you apply for membership.

TMP - TEAM MEMBER PROGRAMME One of the most important ingredients of AIESEC is its excellent learning environment. When you join a team, you get valuable experience on being a team member, taking responsibility and taking care of different voluntary work. As a team member you keep on learning new skills and receiving new information about various topics from all around the world. You will also be creating contacts that you will need later on in working life, with businesses for example.

TLP - TEAM LEADER PROGRAMME Leadership is an integral part of AIESEC’s foundation. We aim to influence the society positively by developing and supporting the skills of our members and helping them to discover their true potential. The theories and concepts learned on courses are meaningless unless you get to apply them in practice. For this AIESEC offers annually over 5000 leadership positions around the world.

EXCHANGE - AIESEC AIESEC has two exchange programmes Global Community Development Programme (GCDP) and Global Internship Programme (GIP).

The main goal is to attract, create and build partnerships with external organizations via different products and platforms that we provide and use to maintain the relationships. Through trainings, the team provides AIESECers the knowledge about cold calling and company meeting and afterwards the members have the possibility to get in touch with companies and sell AIESEC and also themselves as a person to the companies.

Kristina Sushelska Vice President of FIN (Finance)

The Finance team operates the economic functions of AIESEC Skopje. As representatives of FIN it is our responsibility to manage and oversee the budgeting of the organization and administrate the bookkeeping. It is also expected to supervise and conduct the purchasing for the office and keep track of invoicing. It is our responsibility to search for grants. It is also our responsibility to create annual and semi-annual accounts.

Stefan Dimevski Vice President of TM (Talent Management)

The Talent Management team prides itself on the key, strategic role that plays within the organization.The TM team is responsible for all human resources processes within the organization and ensures the personal and professional development of its members. The team is in charge for implementing different constructive,educational and social environments within the local committee.

Stefan Trpkovik Vice President of OGX (Outgoing Exchange)

The team is responsible for selecting suitable, good quality Exchange participants, as well as providing them with the necessary preparation and information to have a significant experience on the “Exchange” stage of their AIESEC Experience. The team is further responsible to be a contact person for the members that are going abroad and to help and support them while being abroad.

PR is a strategic communication process that builds beneficial relationships between one organization and the public. It conducts activities like market research, making marketing campaigns, planning online and offline promotions, partner’s promotion, building relationships with the media, media appearances etc.PR is a tool for building great reputation, which is built by developing relationships with the public, and by having a great reputation you are half way on a successful brand

MyAIESEC.net is a collaborative networking platform. It is a user centric system developed to connect members, partners and alumni. It allows you to join them and live your own AIESEC experience online. It is an internal tool used by AIESECers around the world. Steps to register your very own myaiesec.net account: 1. Go to www.myaiesec.net 2. Click on register here 3. Select Member, and then click next. 4. Fil out the form. 5. And wait until you get approved by the LC. 6. Once approved go back to www.myaiesec.net. 7. Write in your email and password and press login. 8. Click on the My Experience tab (located in the top left corner of the blue lane) and under My Account Settings (located on the bottom) click on Raise Email Request. 9. After that write down yor name under First Name and your surname under Last Name. Click Raise Request. 10. Afterwards go back in the My Experience tab (located on the top left corner of the blue lane) under the Programmes and Phases (located on the top right) and click on Take Team Member Programme. 11. Press Apply. (IMPORTANT!: Before you can apply you must fill all of your credentials) 12. You get to Search Team Member Opportunities. Under Committee, choose Local. Select Macedonia, LC Skopje. Select your area (TM, OGX, ICX etc.), under Job Description write down Team Member. Start date 01.10.2013 to (blank). It‘s that simple. You‘re not an AIESECer unless you have a myaiesec.net profile.

MOSEM

MOSEM (Macedonian Open Seminar for Education and Motivation) is a multifaceted AIESEC conference that is geared towards new and experienced members. The conference itself is designed as a unique and energetic medium to equip members with soft skills as well as with AIESEC knowledge and deeper understanding of how AIESEC can play a significant role in the discovery and development of one‘s potential. The impact of this seminar is greater since its members interact with international delegates and facilitators, as well as with AIESEC Alumni and stakeholders. MOSEM offers 3 tracks, carefully designed to fit the needs of 3 diistinct delegate profiles: - Newbies: people who have recently joined the organization. - Leaders: Executive board, team leaders and experienced members of the organization who want to reactivate their participation

PROJECTS

United for Tomorrow United for Tomorrow is ecological project which deals with environmental issues. This educational project, divided in two parts - United for Tomorrow and United for Tomorrow junior, takes place in the educational institutions in Skopje. United for Tomorrow takes place in elemental and high schools, and United for Tomorrow – junior in kindergartens. It will be realized in March and April 2014. Whole project is divided in educational sessions and creative workshops. The sessions are held by the interns, which are from different countries and cultures, and by the NGOs, which are specialized in this area. The educational sessions are consisted of presentations with text and pictures from different areas such as global warming, deforestation, endangered species etc. and during the creative workshops the students are able to talk about current ecological problems in the world, give their ideas and thoughts about their solution and what they can do about it. Also on this workshops the students do some recycling on some everyday items. Part of the project are some specialized workshops where the students would build a solar collector for hot water and a windmill model. Open day is an event where the first day of spring is celebrated and it will take place in the city park. Here the participants will have the opportunity to make some bird houses and place them on trees in the park. Also through games and fun the participants will have the opportunity to learn about the major ecological problems and will learn ways how to contribute in their solving. The final event that will take place on the Faculty of Economics is the seminar. On the seminar the participants would be able to learn about environmental issues from reputable names from the governmental and the non-governmental institution whose expertise in this field. The main aim of United for Tomorrow is to make the youngest population aware of the ecological problems which surround us and contribute to their solution.

PROJECTS

Career Direction Career Direction Project is educational project in the area of business and management. The main purpose of the project is to make the high-school students more proactive and lead them to choose where they want to continue their studies. Career Direction sessions will start in March and April 2014, it will consist of interactive trainings and creative workshops. The project takes place in six high-schools in Skopje. Sessions will be held by certificated trainers and members of the NGO’s in Skopje and most of them will be presentations from the area of soft-skills, self-assessment, risk and time management, body language etc. Also, there will be interactive games so the students can gain their skills practically. There will be a fun part, a competition, where the students can compete with their colleagues about the task they will be given at the beginning of the seminar. The students will be given opportunity to talk with the trainers about any labor issue that our country deals with. Career Days Career Days is a central career development seminar and company fair in Macedonia. The general idea is to provide effective and efficient way for postgraduate and under-graduate students to communicate with the corporate sector in which they wish to work in the future. It is a place where companies present their qualities, their projects and programs for students to learn how to involve in their working process. Target group of Career Days are: - Students at all years of studies from the faculties of social sciences. - Every young individual from 18 – 28yrs of age. This year Career Days celebrates 18 years of its existence.
