Letter from the editors
FROM THE DESK OF THE LETTER FROM THE EDITORS Dear readers, Our magazine is for education purposes. It includes the information about the following: Tornadoes, Hurricanes, Indiana’s weather, monsoons, and blizzards. It goes over how each was storm was formed and personal stories about people that has lived through these horrific events and what they did to survive. During this project we learned what to do to stay as safe as possible when severe weather occurs. These severe weather patterns can form by you and we wanted to make sure everyone is safe if it indeed does happen. Weather is important to know about. We can’t stop the natural causing events but we can do as much as possible to limit the deaths of people when they happen. We hope you enjoy our magazine and the information that is included. I thought to myself this tornado was throwing cars like missals coming out of a cannon. This tornado felt like the wind was blowing 200 miles per hour. I was scared.This tornado destroyed the

whole town in safety places to minutes,our keep safe during house was a tornado. nothing,it was gone.I thought we were going to have to move.Move out of Lowell,out of were all my friends were my family.....I was devastated.This tornado only lasted 7 minutes it was the worst 7 minuets of my life.... the worst minutes of the towns life.. the only thing left was a little gas station on the main road.This Bytornado changed Zac Galvan everyones life.Now the town has a better tornado

My Hurricane Story
Hurricane Andrew the most horrific story
I walked along the oceans bank through the soothing water of the golf coast. It was a steamy day in Florida.The dark thunderous cloud filled the horizon as far as my could see. Hurricane Andrew roared towards the shore.My mother told me it was time to go back to the house now,I could feel the storms electrifying winds blowing on my face.The sand grains pounced around on the ground.We watched from high grounds,the wave surge knocked more then 100 people.You could see the warm and cold air fronts fighting each other.The wind was rapidly changing direction,while the rain was attacking everything in it sight.The air in our house was very moist from the storm.You could almost feel the pressure dropping off of our bodies as the storm neared .Then we saw it a category five hurricane. It was the most gruesome storm i have ever seen The monstrous storm was said to be up to 400 miles wide.We went up to the second story of our house to escape the flooding.We turned on the radio and they said the hurricane was closer minutes away from we were at. I was so frightened I wanted to cry! We had all of our supplies we needed, water, food, a knife to cut stuff, a flashlight with extra batteries, and several candles. Suddenly, were heard a loud booming noise and the power went out! My younger brother screamed his brains out. A little bit later we calmed him down and he stopped. We eventually fell asleep. When our family awoke the devastation. Our house was all in one piece but the bottom floor was flooded. We had no power at all in our house. But we still have one of the most important things, a radio. It advised everyone to stay inside of their house. Continue on next page---> [6]
Outside the window we saw, trees ripped out of the ground, streets flooded, and the power lines were down. Our house seemed to be the only house without damage. Almost every other house was barely standing or destroyed. They said this storm was up to 50-60 billion dollars in damage. My whole family was fine and unharmed luckily. My life was changed by this storm. Now it was time to clean everything up.

MONSOONS
Monsoons are common in other areas in the South, like Arizona, New Mexico, Southern California, and Utah. They are very uncommon in the United States. Monsoons occur in the months July through September in North America. The temperature needed to create a monsoon is 105 F the dew point is average 55 F or higher and the humidity is 70 F. Some dangers during a monsoon is dry lightening it sparks wildfires with no hope of rain. Weeks later the rain arrives. The average rain fall during a monsoon is 13 inches or more. The sverage rain fall is 330 mm. Mudslides can bury villages and destroy crops in Arizona. Your safety is very important during a monsoon. Avoid low-
water crossings, Do not attempt to cross flowing streams, go to higher ground, driving around barricades is ILLEGAL and dangerous, when in dout, wait it out,or find a safer route,be especially cautious at night, and do not let children play near storm drains. Store materials like sandbags, plywood, plastic sheeting and lumber for protection form flood waters and to make quick repairs after a severe thunderstorm. Store materials above flood level.
Indiana’s weather
Im a 14 year old girl who has lived in Indiana her entire life. The fact that I have lived in Indiana my whole life, means i've been in a few different types of weather storms. I have been in thunder storms, flooding, a blizzard, theres been tornado warnings and more. There are all different types of weather that occur in indiana.
There is every day weather such as clouds,sun,wind and then theres not everyday weather such as fog, freezing rain, hail, lightning, rain, snow, thunder. During the 14 years i have lived in Indiana I have experienced different temperatures in different seasons and why it happens.
Well you see the earth is at a tilt, so different parts of the planet are warmer during different times of the year. There is also a jet stream. A jet stream is fast flowing relatively narrow air currents found in the atmosphere. Sense i have lived in lowell my whole life i know a lot about indiana. I know that Indiana is a mild climate. I also know what weather events that could cause flooding. Excessive rain, rapid snowmelt and more can cause flooding. As you know thunderstorms occur but the question is how do they occur? Well the earths surface heats the air just above the surface through the process of conduction. There are 3 main types of thunderstorms: orographic, air mass, and frontal.

The whole time i have lived in Indiana the weather hasn’t bothered me. I really wouldn’t mind staying here for another 14 years. I enjoy the 4 seasons because you get a mixture That is how it is to live of all different in indiana if you like climates. different climates and 4 seasons i think indiana is a good place to live. All the different weather Indiana has is very interesting The different weather storms are pretty interesting too.
