...where leaders are nurtured to soar!
Why Choose Brainyville International School?
What is Brainyville? This is a Professional Learning Community (PLC) and we mean this with all intent and purpose. Our cultural focus is to ensure that we have an oiled PLC that ensures academic success for all children, as teachers collaborate to make this happen.
The walls of our classrooms have been broken down and the work of each teacher is open to public scrutiny for collegial support and accountability.
We collectively discuss learning gaps and collectively intervene.
We believe that all our children can be helped if all teachers and members of the faculty are involved and working collaboratively.
Our Educational Philosophy The essence of education is growth
The learner is an experiencing organism
The environment of education should be life itself, where students can experience living – not preparing for it
Growth through the reconstruction of experiences, is the nature and should be the open-ended goal of education
Provision for group thinking in a democratic atmosphere that fosters cooperation rather than competition
To provide an education for the ‘whole child’ centering its attention on all the needs and interests of the child
Through the experience of problem-solving projects by which the child is led from practical issues to theoretical principles
To guide and advice our children, since their own interest should determine what they learn, not authority or the subject matter of text books alone
Concentrate on teaching our children how to manage change through problem solving activities in the social studies, empirical sciences and vocational technology
Projects should be the preferred method whereby the children can be guided through problem solving experiences
Our Vision To be the School of choice for holistic child development, Godly virtues, leadership and outstanding academic excellence.
Our Mission To achieve our vision, we will partner with parents to lay positive and enduring foundation in our children, using an enriched scheme, qualified and experienced teachers, world-class teaching techniques and technology in a conducive environment.

- Almum positivum principe (Nurturing positive leaders) - Born to Soar, Destined to Lead!
The Journey So Far Brainyville International School was founded in 2012, with the intent to build world class leaders of tomorrow and beyond, through collaborative transformational educational experiences. The School is accessible and centrally located in a serene environment in the heart of Wuse 2, in the Federal capital city of Abuja, Nigeria. Proud of its numerous successes so far, Brainyville stands out amongst other schools by its remarkable achievement in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (S.T.E.A.M) since inception. This is reflected in our commitment to world class research activities through our curriculum development, in key areas across Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematical, Arts and Literacy studies, paying great attention to effective and comprehensive communication skills upon which all optimal deep learning are predicated.
Brainyville is an all-inclusive (equality and diversity) International school catering for children in Creche, Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and the primary classes. Construction of the Secondary arm of the school is presently on-going. Brainyville is also noted for its excellence in equipping children with Godly virtues, leadership and relevant life skills, all aimed at empowering them to become global citizens who can take ownership of their learning. The school was founded on universally accepted Christian principles such as love, kindness, perseverance, discipline, goodness, patience, joy, peace and faithfulness. These have formed the bedrock of our core values and the character development of our children.
All areas of support and facilitation are conducted through the medium of British English underpinned by the three major Nigerian Languages which are Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba. In addition to English, other International languages such as Mandarin (Chinese) and French are also offered as part of our normal subjects. As much as possible, the school collaborates with Embassies and international bodies to provide native speakers that have background in education.
Why We Do What We Do Our educational philosophy, aims and objectives are to ensure that every child is supported with the appropriate developmentally tailored curriculum to enhance their optimal development. At Brainyville, we provide programmes supported by activities that are age appropriate and varied, based on developmental milestones. This is crucial within our school community to ensure the holistic development and growth of our children and to prepare them for their external and internal transitioning for immediate and lifelong performance as global citizens.
The core borders of our academic values are based on experiential learning. therefore, we place importance on this and have put in place a systematic learning environment that encourages our children to be broad minded and technologically knowledgeable. This prepares them for excellent national and international second and third level institutions.
Our Curriculum Brainyville implements a curriculum that aims at developing intellectual curiosity and a yearning for learning, supporting and facilitating our children to think critically, independently and transfer their skills and knowledge to excellent use in the real world as global citizens. Our curriculum is based on the British and Nigerian curricular and enriched with well researched content that is uniquely us. Through the very strategic
and systematic application of structured and unstructured indoor and outdoor activities; we bridge the gap between theories and practice. This allows our children to experience creative, imaginative, manipulative, exploratory, physical and social learning. These processes provide avenues for them to take ownership of their learning under the guidance of our very professional members of staff.
Our curriculum is developed based on the needs of the students as a group and as individuals. we therefore provide materials that support intellectual educational experiences by including other educational approaches that have been tried and tested within our setting through the early years stages up to the highest class within the primary section.
Our pedagogical approaches are such that our day to day support systems and structures truly reflect our curriculum in action. Though our curriculum is a perfect blend of the British and Nigerian curricular, we are aware of the changes in global academic practice and new technologies in education, thus we annually subject our curriculum to scrutiny and make adjustments as needed.
How We Teach We are aware of the array of instructional approaches and we tailor our approach to the curriculum objectives and learning goals. However, we try to ensure that whatever approach we take is child centered.
Our Focus In line with our vision, our focus is to raise the total child, by not only equipping them with the academic skills, but with the necessary life skills needed to live independent and successful lives, such as: 21st Century Skills: Collaboration Communication
A major crux of our curriculum is the integration of 21st century skills. We carefully embed these success skills into the daily repertoire of learning and ensure they are effectively taught and developed alongside the other content of the scheme of work. Our cocurricular activities are equally tailored to reinforce this aspect.

Road Map to Success in Common Entrance
Cambridge English Qualifications
For pupils in upper primary (Key Stage 2), we also put them through a programme called: Road Map to Success in Common Entrance. We do not only prepare our primary children for National exams such as Common Entrance Examination but also entry exams into top Secondary schools in Nigeria and beyond.
Our Primary pupils are also exposed to the Cambridge English Qualifications, which the school recently adopted to offer an international testing opportunity to our children so as to bench mark their performance in such test with other candidates in the UK and other countries. The Cambridge English Qualifications Exam is administered every two years and particularly at the start of the child’s language learning journey and at the exit point (Year 6). According to Cambridge UK, “they are indepth exams that make learning English enjoyable, effective and rewarding. These qualifications are specifically designed for school-age learners. They provide a strong foundation and learning framework to help children
and teenagers gain confidence and improve their English language skills. The exams are based on authentic situations and test all four skills – speaking, writing, reading and listening – so preparing for their exams helps students develop the skills they need inside and outside the classroom. The exams are full of motivating topics and tasks that make learning enjoyable, effective and rewarding”.
Achievements of our Children beyond the school & after Graduation from BIS Brainyville is already setting new records by producing the first ever NARSDA Space Ambassador, Daniel Gashinbanki, who attained this feat in Year 3 (Grade 3). Not only that, all the three children who were the first harvest of the school, 2018, being the pioneer pupils to graduate from Brainyville, the three of them who moved on to secondary in 2018 have done remarkably well in their various schools. Even though two of them left to secondary from Primary 5, a practice not encouraged in Brainyville, the children all did well and gained
Early Years Session Our early years Department provides attractive safe and secure environment for our children. The early years is organized in such a way that all children are brought together and consideration is given to the different needs and abilities of each child in the early years, our children learn to succeed in an atmosphere of care, developing selfesteem.
entry into very good secondary schools. One of the three pupils who moved on to secondary is currently representing her new school outside the country in an international competition,The World Scholars Competition, having won nine gold medals at the 2019 World Scholars competition held in Abuja in March 2019. By this feat, she set new records in her new school and through her letter to Brainyville, she accorded the credit of her brilliant performance so far in secondary school to her Alma Mata, Brainyville International School.
We pay attention to each child’s progress through teacher observation and consistent consultation with their parents. Parents are encouraged to share their view of their child’s progress, weakness and developmental needs. Teacherpupils relations have been one of our major achievements in helping the development of our children.
Early Years Scheme Our Early Years Scheme is driven by a UK based EYFS teaching, monitoring and evaluation software. With this, we are sure of the outcome of every Early Years child at the point of entry and transition to Key Stage 1. In addition to the EYFS scheme, we also expose our children to other learning reinforcement activities in our Montessori room as well as loads of outdoor and indoor fun activities, science experiments, art & craft, pencil control activities, practical life skills, music, French, Elocution, handwriting, etc are also taught along
with the EYFS seven Learning Goals. Our Early Years are not subjected to formal examinations, but rather we measure their developmental goals and level of understanding of topics taught through documented formal and informal daily observations and structured and unstructured formative assessments. We also administer bench marking tests at the start and end of every session.
Creche Department (Daycare & Playgroup) Our Creche is made up of two arms; the infants (between the ages of 3 months to 12months) and the junior toddlers (between the ages of 13 months to 2 years +). The creche is situated in a separate building away from the Nursery and Primary Classes. It is well equipped with its’ own infant playground. The
creche learning and development is also driven by age appropriate EYFS scheme and monitoring tools provided by the EYFS software. This ensures that developmental goals attained by the pupils at every stage of their early years is in accordance with the UK standard and that daily and weekly observations are well documented. Where developmental gaps are observed and depending on the gravity, an early intervention by an expert may be recommended. The school also encourages healthy feeding for all our children, on request, we provide fresh, nutritious and hygienically prepared meals for our creche babies up to four times a day. Like our whole school menu, our creche Meal Plan is also periodically updated and vetted by a renowned Nutritionist and dietician. Our Creche offers two enrollment options for the convenience of our parents: 7:30pm-3:00pm (half day) or 7:30pm5:30pm (full day).
Assessment
Fun & Educational Field Trip
Our assessment instruments are highly sophisticated and meet the global criteria for authentic assessments.
Most of our units and content areas kick off with field trips within the first few weeks of resumption. This is important because we want our students to have experienced the curriculum in real life context before learning the curriculum within the four walls.
Student Culture
Staff Culture
We place a high priority on student character as we are nurturing positive leaders. Therefore, we expect that our teachers hold a termly in-class conference with the students and develop class routines and rules as guides for the smooth operation of the classroom. We also encourage the use of behavioral contracts. However, it is important that the Office of the Head Teacher ensures it leads discipline in the school. The Head Teacher must set the standard of discipline and must be firm with love in ensuring that students develop moral strength.
In order to ensure effective mentorship from teachers, it is expected that a culture of discipline is maintained. Thus the Head Teacher leads weekly staff meetings where majority of the issues discussed is on academic matters as it relates to students. Agendas of such meetings must be duly documented by a secretary and signed. Also staff are required to meet for morning briefing and to pray for at least five minutes daily before school commences. However, staff discipline policies of the school should be followed and enforced where necessary.
Special Events The BIS Termly events calendar has been carefully planned to complement the children’s holistic learning and academic activities. Each event comes with curriculum linkages and our teachers are trained to look out for

Admission/ Enrolment Brainyville International School caters for all children, provided the School can meet the needs of the child. Our enrolment policy requires a strict adherence to student cognitive and affective readiness for the respective class. Students are duly tested and assessed and parents requested to produce evidence of previous and present academic results before student can be admitted. We ensure that students are admitted into age appropriate classes and class teachers get an opportunity to assess students before they are enrolled. If a student does not meet with our required criteria for the said class, we will not in any way compromise our stand and procedure. This is because we are concerned about the student and will not jeopardize the life of such a child.
