61% Of Nearly 7,000 Randomly Tested Travelers Positive for COVID-19 A whopping 4,123 out of 6,742 “Mudik” travelers randomly tested for COVID-19 at one of the almost 400 checkpoints across the country earlier last week have receive a positive test result, the head of the national COVID-19 Task Force, Airlangga Hartarto, has revealed last week. Around 1,700 of these travelers have been placed in independent quarantine immediately while 75 have been so sick that they required hospitalized which clearly
shows that some people out there don’t even care about the health of others as long as they can fulfill their own desires. Fortunately these 75 were found and haven’t been able to infect their families and friend. Despite the nationwide travel ban, which has been in effect between May 6 and 17, millions of Indonesians have hit the road for “Mudik”, the annual exodus where usually tens of millions of people
travel to their home towns during the Eid al-Fitr holiday season at the end of Ramadan to spend time with their family and friends. We’ll see the result of this reckless behavior within the next few weeks.
