FORMS STUDY Shape exploration design developments started with translating the visuals langauges in to shape. The most apt one was chosen for future refinement

Concept sketches Exploring the shapes with different kinds of handles and finally detailing out the selected one.

IDEATION The intent was to keep the shape of the bag as simple as possible geometric, abstract, organic and complex forms were generated as part of exploration

INTRODUCTION Key bag shapes err on the minimalist and clean side for A/W 17/18, with a distinct lack of superuous detail or decoration.

KEY P O I N T S Longer straps return: cross-body bags become a staple, with a clean-lined, minimalist, portrait shape. Landscape shapes have taken over for handheld bags: totes are wider and shallower as are portfolio-shape clutches. Backpacks remain a key shape: with either a minimalist, clean silhouette or a more contemporary sports-casual athleisure hybrid style. Ladylike and formal is the order of the day: neat and square shapes are key for the hand-held handbag with formed and solid structures.

LANDSCAPE TOTE Why is i t key? The casual tote is elevated from last season to a clean, smarter look perfect for everyday use whilst retaining a sense of formality. What is new? The tote is updated with a shopper hybrid look, with a landscape shape that is wider and shallower

PATCHWORK CLUTCH Why is i t key? The clutch is a go-to style and takes its inspiration from a traditional men's portfolio for this season. What is new? This clutch features a detachable wrist strap and a patchwork body for a clean and modern shape. It is wider and shallower than in previous seasons.
