EDINBURG OLE TIME FESTIVAL

FESTIVAL DANCES On Friday evening, Nelson and Jama Wakeman will host a square and line dance at 7:30 in the Senior Center at the Charterhouse School. Again, no prior dance experience is required - just come on out to have some fun! As part of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War’s end, The Ole Time Festival is hosting a Civil War Era dance on Saturday, September 19th from 7:00 to 10:00 in the school gym. The Shenandoah Valley Minstrels will play and the Shenandoah Valley Civil War Era Dancers will lead the dances. No prior dance experience is needed and adults, kids and those with two left feet are welcomed!

• Since this is the 35th year of the Ole Time Festival, there will be a PowerPoint presentation of familiar faces and fun times from previous Festivals shown during the opening ceremony. The presentation will also be shown in the Mill basement where the Heritage Society is selling hand dipped ice cream. • The 33rd Virginia Company and 2nd Maryland Fifes and Drums will have a living history encampment in front of the Mill.

• Don Warlick of Secret Passage Ranch will be giving a harnessing demonstration beside the Mill on Sat. at 10:00 before he starts giving carriage rides under the old railroad tressel bridge out to the Massie Farm. • Get your homemade apple butter at the Edinburg Mill boiled on site by the Columbia Furnace Community Club. • Too much good food to mention it all - homemade potpie at the VFW, Ruritan french fries, Boy Scout funnel cakes, donuts, Sal’s amazing pizza, Bean’s ribs, the Country Supper at the Fire Hall, Creekside ribeyes and the fabulous Pioneer Breakfast are a few of my favorites.

• Wine! Enjoy some of the area’s finest wines at The Taste of Shenandoah area located under the shade trees beside the car show and the live entertainment at the Charterhouse School Stage. The Wine tasting is on Sat. only. • The Ole Time Sing Along at 6:30 on Friday night is always a very special event. Come enjoy the old time songs led by the charming Evelyn Swensson and accompanied by Adam Hockman. • The Ole Timers Baseball and Basketball games feature star athletes slightly past their prime. Look for Ron Sheets, still playing baseball and basketball at 80! Come out and enjoy some good nature fun and competition.
