• Be sure to visit the Bridgewater 4-H Petting Zoo to get a close-up education about livestock.
• Courtesy Shuttles will stop at designated locations to pick up and drop off passengers. Service is limited during heavy traffic hours. • In addition to the livestock shows and the Market Animal sale (Friday), the Rockingham County Extension Office will have Ag Ed stations across the fairgrounds with information for all ages about this important industry, an Aquaculture Display (#40), and information about the pork industry (barns).
• Stop by the Poultry Museum and have fun learning about how Rockingham County feeds the world. • Compete in the Buckaroo Rodeo on Wednesday night in the Harrisonburg Ford Arena.
• Monday, August 13: Calling All Kids!!! Come out for an opportunity to become an on-air “WHSV Daybreaker”!
• Compete in the Pedal Tractor Pull on Saturday, August 18, in the Hog Barn
• Wednesday, August 15: WVPT Public Media will be on hand offering free books to children while they last. Kids can test their skill at roping a steer and win a prize! Meet Jeff Ishee and Amy Roscher, hosts of Virginia Farming and learn more about growing things!”
• Create something to enter in the Jr. Homemaking department or bring a plant to enter in Jr Horticulture or Flowers. If you like photography or art, we have contests for those items too.
• Saturday, August 18: Meet characters from a Galaxy Far, Far Away. • Every Day, Sentara RMH Medical Center will offer health screenings at their booth in the Exhibit Hall. See the schedule for details.
• Visit the Poultry and Rabbits Exhibit Hall to see a variety of chickens, ducks, geese, rabbits, and even guinea pigs.
• Winners of the Rockingham County & Harrisonburg City Schools coloring, essay, and video contests will be on display in the exhibit hall (coloring, essay, and video) and the barns (video).
