Level 3 Sports Psychology

Improve your approach to golf by improving your thought process

Sports Psychology is the KEY to unlocking your athletic potential

Watching a professional golf event on television or thumbing through a golf magazine leads many fans to believe that the golf industry is made up solely of clubs and apparel from major manufacturers. That couldn't be farther from the truth, with more and more professionals, instructors, and amateurs learning about game improvement through fitness and psychology.

Sports Psychology was an ongoing theme throughout the movie Tin Cup, which features hapless driving range pro Roy McAvoy fighting to tame his inner demons and win the U.S. Open. His love interest/therapist jokes several times that she could make a living working with professional golfers and their caddies.

Now, some people really are.

At this year's PGA Merchandise Show, Dr. Richard Trammel conducted several sessions to show club professionals the types of mental training that he specializes in. After starting with exercises to show how the brain operates during a typical round of golf, he discussed strategies to improve the process.

"How much of your sport would you say is mental in nature? Some say up to 90 percent at the elite level. If that is the case, how much are you working on your mental game? Sports Psychology is the KEY to helping any athlete unleash their potential with sound theoretical approaches."

Dr. Trammel's company - Level 3 Sports Psychology - offers information and training for players of all abilities. And, in keeping with the technology available to all of us, his program is available in a variety of ways: In-person consultations and workshops, applied golf workshops, video lessons, and a library of pre-recorded sessions.

"What makes Level 3 Sports a unique sports psychology consultancy is my experiences in athletics, business, and academics. I currently play competitive golf and have taught the game for about 30 years," added Trammel

Golf is Dr. Trammel's passion, but he's recruited like-minded teachers with the drive and knowledge to help players in several other team and individual sports.
