Bandon Dunes and the Bandon Cottage

For nearly 20 years, Bandon Dunes has been touted as one of America’s great golf meccas, a place you just had to play.

Since the first shot was struck on the original Bandon course, the resort has grown to include five championship courses, a par-three course, amazing practice facilities, several lodging options, and restaurants and bars to relax in. Sometimes, though, there just aren’t enough rooms to go around. That’s when you have to get creative.

For a small to medium sized group, the Bandon Cottage has been a great place to stay. Located just minutes from the Bandon Dunes Resort (and just down the road from where the Sheep Ranch will open in 2020!), the Bandon Cottage features four bedrooms (each with two queen beds), a large living room, a gourmet-style kitchen, billiard room and a putting green, BBQ and fire pit in the backyard. It’s a great place to go home to after a long day of golf.

The Bandon Cottage is owned and operated by four friends from NY who all stayed there in 2013 during their first trip together to the resort. When the property went up for sale in 2016, the foursome felt it was a no-brainer to buy and continue offering it to golf groups.

Paul Catoggio managers the property on behalf of his partners and has made the long journey to Bandon more than a dozen times since the resort opened in 1999. “As an avid golfer myself, I enjoy working with groups to ensure they get the most out of their trips. That includes sharing my local knowledge of the town, restaurants, other nearby courses, caddies and even non-golf excursions. I also highly recommend our available in-house chef Nora who can have a gourmet meal waiting for you when you get back after 36 holes or simply stock the house with whatever you may need prior to your arrival.”

Staying at the resort can be great, but friends being able to stay under one roof and relax after golf is the biggest amenity the Bandon Cottage has to offer. Booking tee times when staying away from the resort is easier than it used to be, just make sure you familiarize yourself with Bandon’s booking policies and speak with Paul so he can share his strategies to get the tee times you want.
