Sun River Resort Sunriver, OR For those in the Pacific Northwest, Sunriver Resort has become a place where memories and family traditions have been made for decades. Fortunately, it’s a location that’s easy to get to and has options to fit nearly any vacation budget. Sunriver is the original luxury resort and residential community in Central Oregon. Situated in the high desert just south of Bend, Oregon, Sunriver is a sprawling resort community that truly has something for everyone in the family. Formerly an army training ground, the land Sunriver is built on consists of meadows, wooded areas, and meandering waterways. The first homes were built in the late 1960’s around the former officer’s club that still serves as the resort’s ‘Great Hall.’ It wasn’t until the early 1990’s that Sunriver was incorporated.

The resort is home to four golf courses: Meadows, Woodlands, Crosswater and Caldera Springs. Crosswater, named one of “America’s 100 Greatest Courses” by Golf Digest, was the home of the JELDWEN Tradition, a major championship on the Champions Tour from 2007 to 2010. Crosswater is a difficult, but fair golf course that’s the PERFECT example of a classic Northwest-style golf course. The Meadows golf course - designed by acclaimed architect John Fought starts at the main lodge and winds its way through a large section of the early resort. It’s a tight golf course, but a fun one. The Woodlands golf course, a creation of Robert Trent Jones Jr., resides in the north end of the resort. The course features wider fairways and

more water hazards, but is an excellent course for golfers of all abilities. All three of the resort’s championship courses have undergone upgrades to their greens and bunkers, making them consistently excellent regardless of the course you decide to play. Each year, the resort plays host to the Pacific Amateur Golf Classic, an individual stroke-play event that gets hundreds of players out to test their skills against the golf courses and each other. Sunriver is more than just golf, though. The resort boasts outdoor pools, tennis courts, a park with basketball courts, miniature golf and ice skating, shopping and dining, and the popular Sunriver Homeowners Association Aquatic Center (SHARC) waterpark. Those looking for a few hours away from the hustle and bustle can receive a variety of spa services at the Sage Springs Club and Spa. Sunriver Resort offers a variety of accommodations, including luxury guest rooms and suites, as well as 400 vacation rental properties. The resort has over 44,600 square feet of meeting and banquet space. The region’s primary winter attraction, Mount Bachelor ski area, is about twenty minutes away by vehicle.
