VALO PAR K
GR OU ND F LOOR TE CH SU I TE
A unique project beginning with the demolition of two Ground Floor suites with no natural light, one containing an office, the other contained both a bank and a barber shop.
We worked directly with the building owner to design a spec suite suitable for a tech related tenant while retaining the two entries doors to the main Ground Floor corridor.
The suite is divided by a portal into individual spaces and an open concept space.
007
The individual spaces include a reception area, hoteling space, flex work area, conference room and one executive office. Beyond the portal is the copy area, kitchenette and open office space. ABOVE : Concept illustration of view from main entrance. LEFT: stacked life safety, finish, floor, power, furniture, and reflected ceiling plans

LEFT: 3d revit model showing new phase construction layout, lighting, finishes, and potential furnishings TOP (LEFT/RIGHT): view from main entrance view of hoteling space and reception area
BOTTOM: open office space to kitchennette and copy area
Lighting design was a driving factor in space planning creating datums both in plan and elevation. Finishes were chosen to accent the high ceilings while creating a intimate grounding feel.

BUOYAN T F O R CE “Buoyant Force is a 50-foot steel sculpture by Sue Wrbican inspired by the paintings of American Surrealist Kay Sage (b. 1898, Albany, New York; d. 1963, Woodbury, Connecticut). Sage is recognized for her paintings of scaffolded structures and furled fabric in desolate landscapes. Tephra ICA organized the first comprehensive exhibition of Wrbican’s work, entitled Well Past the Echo, in Fall 2017. ... Based on the success of the exhibition, Tephra ICA commissioned Wrbican to realize one of her structures at full-size in Reston Town Square Park.” (Tephra ICA)
buoyant force
We worked closely with Artist Sue Wrbican to translate the maquette to a build-able reality. 3/2/2018
GRACE WRBICAN SCULPTURE
Keeping the human scale in mind, the proportion of the tower entices the viewer to look upward. Blue columns pierce the sky, supporting large “wind-filled” parametric sails attached seemingly by just enormous clothes pins. Panels of varying colors and textures interrupt the view, encouraging a closer inspection. Horizontal rungs appear to encourage an upward venture. Without allowing or encouraging physical climbing, Buoyant Force draws its viewers to let their minds venture upward towards the sky while engaging from the ground plane. Two sister sculptures and coordinating fencing were envisioned but omitted.

ELEMEN TAR Y SCHOOL A public elementary school renovation project including a total project area of 83,115,09 SF. Extensive interior work, two small additions, and some exterior upgrades results in a building better adapted for teachers’ needs and meeting current building and sanitary codes. While most areas receive reconfiguration of classroom dividing walls, some areas are complete revitalizations. Three Kindergarten classrooms fill the space left by the two Industrial Arts Shops. Two Special Education classrooms take the space of the former Auxiliary Gym. Additional Special Education classrooms are created in spaces that were once dank and dreary locker rooms. A corridor addition, connects the Special Education suite to the existing breezeway and memorial courtyard while providing an additional learning space. The final additions improve efficiency of the cafeteria kitchen, which also underwent renovation.

PR OF E S SION AL
E X PER IENCE Internships with the luxury tile brand Rookwood Pottery Company and Architectural Incorporated provided opportunities to build a well-rounded and flexible skillset. These internships gave me a background in many project sizes, and software including AutoCAD, Revit, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. Additionally, I had the opportunity to learn project management from schematic through construction administration.

The Reggio Emilia inspired Learning Center is approximately 22,000 SF including Classrooms and Secondary Learning Spaces VIEW FROM THE NORTHWEST CORNER for 120 students ages 1-5. All age groups benefit from access to Piazzas, Altilier and Music Room. Age group 1-2 are on the ground level as well as a Parent/Community Resource Center. Age group 3-5 are on the 2nd level, along with the commercial kitchen and Cucina - a hands on cooking learning space for adults and children.

The development provides 22 apartments, space for 1 retail business on the front facade, 2 commercial spaces on the plaza level, and pleasant walkable area encouraging a connection between the University of Cincinnati and the greater Clifton community. The facade’s material and proportions pay homage to nearby Architecturally Significant Buildings such as Corryville Catholic Elementary, Hughes High School and, Old St. George. The plaza level houses a cafe and office space, creating environments conducive to educational facilities.

CR E AT I VE OU T LE T S Expressing feeling and human experience through color and artistic liberty. Humanity is not separate from nature. It is deeply rooted within it. Nature does not choose color for specific harmonies, rather it uses color to serve relational purposes. Using color in this manner invokes emotion and engages the mind. Drawings come from photographic references and are less replicas than they are examinations of the expressions. Abstract acrylic paintings are inspired by natural color pallets and emotions. My creative outlets are an investigation into humanity’s essence and consciousness relating to nature. Identity, existence, purpose, energy, nature... it is all intertwined.
