FROM THE EDITOR
Sweater weather is upon us! In fact, as I write this note, it’s snowing outside. No, this is not the winter issue, it is indeed fall, however we currently have a beautiful dusting of white fluf f atop a mix of gold and green leaves. A date, or time of year, doesn’t necessarily dictate the weather. You may live in a place where seasons don’t particularly change throughout the year, or in one like Calgary, where seasons seem to overlap and cross-over from one to the next. Funnily enough, as I get older, I love fall more and more. It’s currently a close second to summer. Each beautiful day is a gift rather than an expectation. The extra layers are welcomed and I find myself pausing to take deep breaths of the fall fresh air, even if they are more on the crisp side. This issue is packed, and our longest yet! We’re so excited to share a first look at our Mount Royal project; a massive NFDI team ef fort alongside Stonewater Homes and Davignon Martin Architects, almost four years in the making. We hope to inspire you with a neutral and textural approach to fall decor, as well as insight into what the team at NFDI has their eye on this season. As we move into a time of gratitude with Canadian Thanksgiving quickly approaching, we are so thankful to you, our readers, to our clients who welcome us into their homes and to the many people we work with to create beautiful spaces and experiences. We are always so grateful to collaborate with incredible people. Welcome fall and Happy Thanksgiving to all!

REVEAL Close your eyes and imagine a wheat field with it’s warm golden hue, and an intense storm overhead, full of rich navys and many shades of gray. Now, consider this at dusk when the light is perfection.
This prairie colour story was at the helm of the design process. It gave us focus, a point of reference and inspiration as we moved through each stage of the project. Walnut and rift cut white oak grace this home in abundance, however do not overwhelm. Rich charcoals, soft greys, navy and wheat colours are considered throughout the home, creating a cohesive palette from one room to the next. Situated in an established urban area in Calgary, with city views and downtown access, the house reflects a juxtaposition from traditional exterior to modern interior. The home has an appreciation for nature in all aspects. Everything from stone, wood and foliage, to the materials selected for furniture and accessories; a simple, reserved approach meant there are no items in place purely for the sake of it. Every detail was considered from a function and aesthetic perspective with little to no excess. Our clients had a vision, and we helped bring it to fruition from concept to completion. Teamwork, collaboration, trust and design intention brought forth the final product, of which we are so thrilled to finally share. We welcome you to our Mount Royal home tour!
