I have always loved magazines. As a young designer, magazines were my go-to resource for inspiration, new products and beautiful homes, which resulted in stacks of publications. The internet certainly did not have the flood of activity it does now. House & Home, Metropolitan Home, Elle Decoration, Style at Home and Martha Stewart (to name a few) were added to my library monthly. With magazines piling up, I went through each and every magazine, tearing out the images and articles I loved and wanted to keep. I then created a binder, organized by tabs, into categories such as design ideas, articles, travel destinations, fashion, recipes etc. I still have it. While recently skimming the pages I laughed as I realized this was life before Pinterest. The digital age has transformed how we read, share, save and subsequently get inspired. I love Pinterest, but I still adore print magazines. With these two ‘loves’ in mind we set out to create a new platform to share an extension of the world at Nyla Free Designs through a lookbook. Welcome to NFDI STYLE, an exclusive, quarterly issue of our own projects, tips, new and noteables, behind the scenes and overall design inspiration. We hope you love it just as much as we do!

OFFICE Reveal We were introduced to this space by good friends who previously leased it. Knowing immediately it was a good fit for us with its size, location and natural light, we couldn’t wait to start designing.

We focused first and foremost on leasehold improvements and anything we would need to function as a working office. With the schedule going (mostly) according to plan, we moved in, as planned, in December of 2017. Once we were settled, we began to add our own flavour with our fresh and modern design approach with wallpaper, artwork, wall details and furniture. Slowly but surely the office came together with each installation bringing us closer to our vision. Our goal was to create a bright space, infused with colour, pattern and unexpected details. Welcome! We’re thrilled to give you a virtual tour of our new office.
