NOTE FROM THE EDITOR One of my favourite things to do in the summer is hangout in our own backyard. Sometimes we sit outside from morning to night, starting off with a coffee on the sofa and ending with a glass of wine in front of the fireplace. It’s like a mini vacation right outside our door. We’ve often commented on how refreshed we feel after spending the day outside together. Being outside shifts our perspective and provides a renewed mindset, whether it’s reading, colouring, crafting, napping, listening to music or even working. One area of our backyard we don’t use enough is the dining area. This year I’d love to host more outdoor dinner parties, complete with a beautiful table setting. Don’t miss this issue’s outdoor tablescapes and take this upcoming summer to the next level. There’s something for everyone! We’re also sharing the home tour of our Naramata modern project. This area of BC is somewhere I’d love to return to on vacation. The vineyards and views are spectacular, not to mention the quaint bistros and markets alongside the road. It’s sophisticated and charming all the same. Whatever your summer looks like, road-trips, vacations abroad, lake life or simply enjoying your own backyard, I hope you’ll embrace wherever you are, pick up a book or magazine, enjoy the change of scenery and relish in the unexpected, go with the flow, feeling of summer.

naramata Reveal After a visit to Naramata with friends, our clients knew this was where they wanted to spend their summer months. Situated in BC wine country, built on the side of a mountain, cantilevered over a ravine with views of Lake Okanagan, this residence is a statement of impressive architecture, designed by Sturgess Architecture.
A central black box structure extending out towards the trees, hides a portion of the kitchen and master closet as well as a few hallway amenities. Inside the dark framework lies a light filled ensuite with views of Okanagan Lake. Who wouldn’t want to start the day off in this space?! The overall footprint of the home is well appointed and thoughtfully considered, based on our clients needs and lifestyle. It is the volume of the space that is most impressive with 2 storey, floor to ceiling windows extending the length of the home, on both sides. With a love of colour and pattern as well as being open to taking design risks, we set out to create a space as individual and stylish as our clients. An unconventional angled floor plan draws your eye through the home where the master bedroom extends through to a morning deck. Regardless of the time of day, there is an outdoor space to embrace sun or shade, whatever your preference. There is nothing ordinary about our Naramata Modern project, from the stunning location and impressive architecture all the way to the material selections and furniture. Welcome to “Sweet Ravine”.
