Fall Exhibition Angelo Donghia: Design Superstar Angelo Donghia: Design Superstar will document the career of one of the design industry’s most versatile and talented practitioners. In the 1970s and 1980s, Angelo Donghia was almost as celebrated as his high-profile clients like Liza Minnelli, Ralph Lauren, and Mary Tyler Moore. In addition to his widelypublished modern interiors with trademark features like gray-flannel upholstery and silver-leaf ceilings, he designed furniture, fabrics and wallcoverings, domestics and tableware. This exhibition will display original drawings, photographs, magazine features, and actual products from his student years until his death in 1985. The exhibition will be on view from September 17– December 5, 2015 NYSID Gallery 161 East 69 Street, NYC Gallery Hours: Tuesday–Saturday, 11am–6pm Admission is free. nysid.edu/angelodonghia

Inside the Four Seasons and Other New York City Landmark Interiors We enjoy looking at historic interiors, but there’s more to them than meets the eye. Behind the walls, beneath the floors, beyond the painted surfaces are the back-stories few people know about the city’s known and not-so-known landmarks. Design historian Judith Gura, preservationist Kate Wood, and photographer Larry Lederman, the team behind the new book Interior Landmarks: Treasures of New York (published by The Monacelli Press and New York School of Interior Design), will take us behind the scenes in some of the city’s most interesting spaces. Museum of the City of New York, 1220 Fifth Avenue, NYC. Tickets: $10 for NYSID community; use code SAVE50 at checkout. Purchase tickets at mcny.org/programs.

Designing Tomorrow’s Library
Look Inside: Hudson Yards
There was a time not long ago when a library not focused solely on books seemed unthinkable. Today, many libraries are transitioning into the digital age to provide services beyond book lending. Designers and architects are rising to the challenge to develop new ideas to broaden the impact of local libraries. Architect Andrew Berman (who designed the Stapleton Library in Staten Island and the Washington Heights Children’s Reading Room in Manhattan) and architect Chris McVoy, Steven Holl Architects, senior partner in charge of the Hunters Point Community Library in Queens, will be joined by David Giles, The Center for an Urban Future, to discuss designing libraries for New York’s diverse communities. The talk will be moderated by Raymund
Hudson Yards, an entirely new neighborhood on Manhattan’s far west side above an active train yard, will eventually include more than 17 million feet of commercial and residential space, including five office towers, shops, restaurants, cultural spaces and public places. But how does the largest development in New York City since Rockefeller Center come to be? Panelists Mark Boekenheide, design director, Hudson Yards/Related Companies; Joel Brenner, VP Project Management, Time Warner, Inc.; Brian Tolman, global design director, Unispace; and Marianne Kwok, director, KPF Architects, will discuss design and planning
