MASTER OF PROFESSIONAL STUDIES IN

INTERIOR LIGHTING DESIGN

Lighting design is both an art and a science, and changing technologies, new energy efficiency laws, and the demand for inspired, innovative solutions have created a strong need for specialists in interior lighting design.

• 30-credit, one-year degree; courses begin in the fall and end in the summer • This program requires full-time study, with all classes in the evenings and on weekends • Applicants must have a degree in interior design, architecture, engineering or a closely related field and an advanced portfolio

Alumni Profile: Matthew McCarthy

Matthew McCarthy was a theatrical lighting designer before enrolling in NYSID’s MPS in Interior Lighting Design program. Soon after graduating in 2015, he was hired as a junior lighting designer at Domingo Gonzalez Associates, a wellknown architectural lighting design firm that specializes in transportation, education, historic preservation, corporate, hospitality, and healthcare.
