Our teacher is very experienced and we are learning a lot of new things. She is very helpful and is always happy to give me extra work when I want to do more study in my free time. I am working hard and I can see how much my English is improving. I love it here. – Sena Nur Arslan (Turkey): IELTS

I am really enjoying the course. The classes are small so you get lots of one-on-one time with your tutor and the environment is friendly. It’s very easy to make friends here. At the moment we are studying bartending in our EFH class, which is especially useful for me since I am working part-time as a bartender. I get to practice everything I am learning in class when I get to work each night. – Eleonore Watrin (Tahiti): EFH

I really enjoyed my time in the Upper Intermediate class. I was very impressed with my teacher. Her teaching methods were very clear and also a lot of fun. I was able to improve my grammar in a short period of time and I received enough additional support (such as grammar material) to continue improving my grammar at home. I was also very impressed with the facilities at Fern and enjoyed the daily lunches in the NZMA cafe. – Marco Braida (Italy): General English

Life in New Zealand

NORTH ISLAND

AUCKLAND

New Zealand is made up of two main islands (North and South) and is home to 4.3 million people who live together in a diverse multi-cultural society. Auckland, where Fern is located, is on the North Island of New Zealand and is the largest urban area in the country. In 2009, Auckland was voted one of the top five cities in the world for offering the best quality of living. There are many exciting things to do in New Zealand and Auckland is a great place to start your exploring. With a mild climate, it is close to unpolluted beaches, rivers and forests and the “winterless” far north. Outside of Auckland, the geothermal wonders of Rotorua are three hours away and the lake, hot pools and ski-fields around Taupo are only four hours from Auckland. More information about living and studying in New Zealand can be found at www.fernenglish.ac.nz

Location Fern School of English is located at 80 Anzac Avenue in the heart of Auckland City. Fern is an easy 10 minute walk from the Westfield Downtown Shopping Centre, Queen Street and Britomart (central bus and train station). Auckland University is only a 5 minute walk from Fern. There is a supermarket and many local shops, cafes and bars nearby.

I’ve really loved the course. All the teachers here are really kind and friendly and I’ve made friends from all over the world. I have classmates from Russia, Korea, Turkey, Vietnam and Taiwan. I will be very sad to say goodbye to them all. Another good thing about Fern is that every Friday the school has an activity so I’ve been able to have a really good look around Auckland. Our class has been to Mission Bay, looked at volcanoes and done lots of other sightseeing activities. It’s been great! – Arisa Kinjo (Japan): General English

I really like this school. On the first day my English was terrible and I found the first week pretty difficult! But it is a very friendly environment and the tutors are very good. They have helped me a lot and I have improved a great deal. It is much more relaxed in the classroom than it is back in Russia so I am really enjoying that. – Aliya Khabirova (Russia): IELTS
