Choose a Hospitality qualification that suits you Diploma in Hospitality Management Level 5 & 6 NZMA, partnered by the globally-recognised Edexcel Group and City & Guilds, offers you the opportunity to study for a Diploma in Hospitality Management Level 5 (one year), a Diploma in Hospitality Management Level 6 (eighteen months) or to graduate from our Honours programme* (two years) which includes a paid internship. The key objective of this programme is to train students to have the professional skills required in hospitality and hotel management.

So how does it work?

Academic entry requirements: Applicants less than 20 years old must have: • New Zealand - Entry from NCEA. Preference will be given to students with NCEA Level 2 or higher, OR • Successful completion of a Level 4 or higher qualification taught by a New Zealand TEO. You choose what you want to do Our goal is to ensure an international approach to education. Within a multi-cultural classroom atmosphere, students gain an international awareness of the hospitality and hotel industries and develop the ability to effectively communicate in the global environment. Choose to study a Level 5 diploma in 1 year, a Level 6 diploma in 18 months or extend your study and earn Honours* recognition with NZMA.

What will I learn? The Diploma in Hospitality Management Level 5 is the first year of the Diploma in Hospitality Level 6. This diploma focuses on the development of general hospitality and hotel capabilities – both practical and theoretical.

Diploma in Hospitality Management Level 6 Really serious about your career in the fastest growing industry in the world? Extend your study for an additional six months and complete a Level 6 diploma. You can also gain the globally recognised City & Guilds Diploma in Food and Beverage Service and BTEC Higher National Diploma in Hospitality Management when you complete the Diploma in Hospitality Management – that’s three international diplomas for the price of one! This programme prepares you for a general management and business career in the hospitality industry. On completion of the Diploma in Hospitality Level 5 you can further your studies with NZMA’s Diploma in Hospitality Management Level 6. In your second year of study this diploma allows you to choose one of three specialisations. When you graduate from this Level 6 diploma you can take your internationally recognised qualification overseas to finish your studies at university, or you may choose to continue your education or seek employment in New Zealand.

What will I learn? The Diploma in Hospitality Management Level 6, allows students to develop their skills in papers aligned with their major specialisation.

Three major specialisations are available: 1. Hospitality Management 2. Licensed Retail 3. Leisure and Tourism Note: Availability of specialisations is subject to minimum enrolment numbers.

Honours Programme Get not only three globally recognised qualifications but get first hand experience working in the industry Nothing is more attractive to an employer than someone who already has first hand experience in the industry. With NZMA’s Honours programme we give you the chance to get just that. As an important part of the training in our Hospitality programme, NZMA offers students an opportunity to do an internship. This internship is designed to assist our hospitality students make contacts and gain work within the industry. In addition this internship supports our students in achieving the industry experience needed to complete their Honours programme with NZMA – the highest academic success possible.
