NZMA prepares students for certificate and diploma level qualifications accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). These qualifications are highly respected and sought after by employers and the community.

An exciting new future Since 1985 NZMA has earned a reputation for delivering high quality specialised career training. We provide vocational programmes which ensure that our students graduate with real skills to succeed in today’s competitive workplace. We have stateof-the-art bar and front-of-house training areas. We also have student-run cafes so you can practice your skills.

A warm, welcoming environment There are four NZMA academies, in central, south and west Auckland, as well as in Hamilton. Each has a unique atmosphere. Each academy has a dedicated team of Student Advisors to help students, so you will receive plenty of support throughout your studies with us.

You will meet your Student Advisor team during your first week at NZMA – they are there to support you while you study. This support incorporates everything from building your confidence and finalising loans and allowances, to helping with your personal issues.

Our Student Advisors do their utmost to provide all the support you need to enable you to attend your course – and, ultimately to achieve your goals!

Fun in a supportive environment We’ll do everything we can to help you to achieve your study and career goals. You’ll be given lots of practical hands-on experience and because your progress is continually assessed while you learn there are no major exams at the end of your course.

National Diploma in Hospitality Management Level 5

The hospitality industry is as diverse as it is dynamic. It promises careers which can take you not just around New Zealand but all over the globe. Whether it’s a job on a cruise liner, in a cocktail bar or a hotel that you’re after, NZMA has the ideal qualification to get you started. Our practical Level 3 Certificate in Hospitality and Employment Skills will give you an excellent introduction to all aspects of the industry.

You’ll come away with relevant, specialised knowledge of hospitality skills and beverage operations.

If you are passionate about pursuing a dynamic career in hospitality management, then you’ll need superior qualifications to help you get ahead and achieve your goals. NZMA’s National Diploma in Hospitality Management Level 5 will give you a leading edge. National Certificate in Hospitality Level 4 If you have your sights set on a supervisory position within the hospitality industry, NZMA’s Level 4 certificate has the right ingredients to take you there. This innovative, exciting programme will equip you with advanced knowledge and relevant skills in food and beverage service, as well as preparing you for sought-after supervisory roles. If getting ahead in your hospitality career is one of your top priorities, then this qualification will be invaluable.

Diploma in Hospitality Management Level 5 NZMA, partnered by the globally recognised Edexcel Group and City & Guilds, offers you the chance to study a Diploma in Hospitality Management Level 5. This qualification is not only respected by hospitality employers in New Zealand, but also globally recognised. This one year programme will give you a solid grounding in core modules relating to Hospitality and Hotel Management. The great thing is that its qualification is recognised by universities around the world. We can offer you guaranteed pathways into DCT in Switzerland and Birmingham College University in the UK.

Diploma in Hospitality Management Level 6 If you really want to maximise your qualification, you can extend your study for an additional six months and complete a Level 6 diploma, You can also gain the globally recognised City&Guilds Diploma in Food and Beverage Service and BTEC Higher National Diploma in Hospitality Management when you complete the Diploma in Hospitality Managementthat’s three international diplomas for the price of one! This programme prepares you for a general management and business career in the hospitality industry.

Diploma in Applied Hospitality Management Nothing is more attractive to an employer than someone who has first hand experience in the industry. With NZMA’s Diploma in Applied Hospitality Management we give you the chance to get just that. As an important part of the training , NZMA offers students an opportunity to do an internship. Business Programmes of Study NZMA Certificate in Business Administration and Employment Skills Level 3 If office work and customer service roles appeal to you, this qualification is the perfect start to landing your dream job.

During the course you will develop general administration skills while also covering vital areas like text processing, database, spreadsheets, transaction processing and reception services.

NZMA Certificate in Business and Employment Skills Level 4 If you’ve set your sights on a career in business administration, then this qualification could be just the ticket. This is an advanced level programme which allows you to develop your general administration skills as well as focusing on areas such as communication skills, document integration, specialist text processing and payroll functions.

National Diploma in Business Level 5 Do you want to start your own business? Or are you eager to work towards a managerial role? NZMA’s oneyear business diploma will give you a leading edge when it comes to forging a successful business career. Our innovative, intensive course will prepare you to manage a small to medium-sized business. It will also equip you with all the skills required for an exciting future in business management. Our industry-respected, NZQAaccredited qualification will ensure you get ahead in the business sector.

Diploma in Business Level 5

Diploma in Business (Advanced) Level 6

If you are looking for an internationally recognised business qualification then NZMA’s Diploma in Business Level 5 could be the right option for you. This one year course will give you a solid grounding in core modules including marketing, management, finance, common law, human resources and business strategy. You will also develop personal and professional capabilities including problem solving, presentation skills, leadership, customer service and managing conflict.

After completing your Diploma in Business Level 5 you can further your studies with the Diploma in Business (Advanced) Level 6. This year of study allows you to chose one of the following five areas of major specialisations; management, marketing, finance, e business strategies and information technology.

In addition you complete four of the following eight modules; MS Office solution development, operations management, financial services, industry experience (internship), administrative practices and procedure, project management, microeconomics, macroeconomics.

Recognised in New Zealand, Australia, the USA and the UK means you can take your qualification overseas to work or to continue your studies. If you are staying in New Zealand you can continue to your studies at NZMA with the Diploma in Business (Advanced) Level 6 or pathway to other tertiary institutions in NZ including AUT and Waikato University.

Once you have completed your internationally recognised Advanced Business Diploma L6 you can enter the business world here or overseas. Alternatively pathway on to universities overseas or New Zealand.

Other Programmes of Study MANAGEMENT NZMA Certificate in Supervision Level 5

CONTACT CENTRE NZMA Certificate in Contact Centre and Employment Skills Level 3

Do you want to gain the practical skills needed to be a great leader and team player in today’s business environment?

NZMA’s Certificate in Supervision will give you the necessary supervisory skills you need to succeed within a range of business roles including supervisory positions, human resource administration and general administrative roles. This NZQA-accredited certificate is offered within both the National Diploma of Hospitality Management Level 5 and the National Diploma of Business Level 5, or can be studied as a standalone programme.

Contact Centre is a dynamic, booming industry and qualified staff are in hot demand. Most of our graduates initially move into CSR (Customer Service Representative) roles and from there they can progress into team leader and supervisory positions. If you like talking on the phone and are good with people, this industry-respected qualification is the perfect stepping stone to a bright new future.

RETAIL NZMA National Certificate in Retail Level 3 20% of New Zealand’s workforce are employed in retail. If you want to join them and start a career in retail, you need to show employers you are committed to making it happen. Show them with a NZMA National Certificate in Retail Level 3. This certificate will give you an excellent and practical introduction to all key aspects of retail.
