The Oxfam Times DAILY NEWS FROM THE DELHI2014 CONFERENCE
Tuesday 2 September 2014 LOOKING BACK TO STEP FOWARD
Monday was a day of inspiration and insight, reflecting on our shared past and looking towards the future. Standing on the history line, we embodied the Oxfam story; one of pride in who we are and our joint success. Looking forward and outward, guest speakers painted an external picture of “Oxfam in a changing world.” Local voices, Kiran Karnik, Nitin Desau and Priya Paul spurred our thinking on sustainable development, youth engagement, and Oxfam’s need to move quickly in response to changing global trends. pour cette 2e édition de cette Newsletter Delhi2014! “Our Moral compass must stay the same as when we started. Who are we trying to help? Whose interests are we trying to protect?” – KIRAN KARNIK
“How do we respond to the youth bulge in our programming, especially given that decision makers in our organization are quite old?” ALEXIA HUXLEY PROGRAM DIRECTOR, AUSTRALIA WIN: “It seems WIN is becoming all about campaigns... How do we make WIN an agency competence?” Learning from Others: Is people suffering in poverty in the centre of Vision 2020, or are we using them to survive as an NGO? Collective Resource generation: “Maybe our peers have better ‘products’ - children, animals and religious donors” “Start with priorities, not percentages.” HEARD AT THE MARKETPLACE

Tip: Creating Dialogue Two monologues don’t make a dialogue. Otherwise, we just exchange statements. Explore underlying interests. Ask WHY?
Thought of the day Diversity matters. Respect of one another’s culture, respect of language and custom, this is a big part what makes Oxfam so rich. In our search for more efficiency, more rapidity, more "commonness", let's not forget our respective foundations.
