This pre service course is suitable if you work or want to work as a teacher or trainer in the post 16 education and skills sector.

What do I need? You should be aged 19 or over and have a Level 3 academic or vocational qualification as well as English at Level 2.

What will I learn? l The roles and responsibilities of the teacher l Delivering inclusive learning l Assessing and giving feedback on learning Assessed through written and practical assignments, and microteach.

What can I do next? Level 4 Certificate or Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training. This is an in service course suitable for teachers or trainers in the post 16 education and skills sector.

What do I need? You must be aged 19 or over and hold a Level 3 academic or vocational qualification in the subject you will teach plus GCSE Maths and English or equivalent. You will need to undertake a minimum of 100 teaching hours spread evenly across the course.

What will I learn? l Planning inclusive teaching and learning l Application of theories and principles which underpin teaching, learning and assessment practice l Development of positive behaviours and employability skills l Preparation for the personal tutor role l Implementing an action research project l The impact of wider influences on the professional role of the teacher and trainer Assessment is through assignments and teaching observations

What can I do next? Application for Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills status (QTLS).
