OCL Visual identity Guideline

Introduction Oasis Community Learning is part of the Oasis group of charities. As the overarching brand, Oasis is represented with the logo on the right. Each subsidiary organization has developed it’s own specific identity. Oasis Community Learning and the Oasis Academies share a common visual identity. The shared building blocks of this identity are: •

The core Oasis logo which incorporates the Circle of Inclusion.

The frame which houses associated words (eg. Community Learning or Academy xxx).

•

A simple slider graphic device that is in keeping with the logo, frame and fonts.

Together these building blocks ensure that Oasis Community Learning and all Oasis Academies have a distinctive look that identify them as part of the same family, and differentiate them from other education providers. The colour palette for the Academies remain the same as they have been since their inception. Oasis Community Learning is adopting its original colours of orange and blue. The following pages show the detail of this visual identity.

Exclusion zones The logo requires breathing space around it to maximise its visual presence. Leave at least this area clear around the logo (ie the area displayed with circles) to prevent any other graphic elements or type interfering.

Font family All brands have a font family; number of fonts which can be used. It is typical for there to be fonts preferred and used by designers and more accessible fonts for general use.

Typography Example of font usage If this piece were to be created in Publisher or another Microsoft package, please use the font sizes as shown here, but use Arial instead of Uni Sans and Helvetica. Line spacing should be at the discretion of the user but please note that text must be well spaced and legible.

Introducing the sliding divider Portrait angle Oasis use a simple slider graphic device that is in keeping with the logo frame and brings visual differentiation for Oasis Academies. The objective for this is to create a distinctive Oasis brand, so that when you walk into an Oasis Academy you can’t confuse it with any other education provider’s school. This sliding divider allows the user to adjust the design to suit their requirements. This device makes the brand highly flexible for all different types of content.

For portrait applications we use a 11° angle from the horizontal and for landscape applications we use a 70° angle from the horizontal. These two angles complement the logo and keep commonality throughout the brand.

Using the sliding divider Portrait format Having employed the correct angle (either the landscape or portrait variant), the next step is to set up the divider between the copy and image space so that the piece looks clear and balanced. The divider simply slides up or down on a portrait piece or left to right on a landscape piece.

Sliding divider misuse Only one slider should be used per page/media. Please note: a divider is not obligatory on any page/media apart from the front cover of a document.

Logo positioning The Academy logo can be used in various locations on different layouts. Due to the thick white keyline around it, the logo can work on colour backgrounds or overlayed on imagery. This allows for dynamic and flexible designs.

Transparent divider Transparent divider examples A transparent divider can be used to add variety. It allows a full image to show through which may be important for context but still provides the opportunity for text to be overlaid. 90% opacity should be applied. The effect should be used sparingly and only if a solid coloured divider is not appropriate. Most of the Oasis colours will work in the transparent but if text becomes hard to read, the Generic Blue should be used. There may be instances where the colour of the text will have to be changed for legibility - if this is the case then Generic Blue should be the primary colour to use. For Academy prospectusâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;, the front cover divider must always appear as a solid colour. If you choose to use the actual image with a transparenct effect and overlay it with a slider, the slider used must be a solid one such as the example to the far right.

Circle of Inclusion

Example of how to use the Circle of Inclusion within printed materials Circles of Inclusion can be added to a spread to add interest. These should be used sparingly and only in obvious white areas with no content. Ideally the circles should have a 20% opacity. Circles should be in generic blue or Academy accent colours.
