2 What is RSS? RSS ("Rich Site Summary" or "Really Simple Syndication") is a set of feed formats used on the Web to easily distribute updates from a specific resource to a large audience. This way of distributing content is commonly used by news providers, blogs, social networking websites, etc. The content delivered by RSS feeds can vary from a simple news headline to a full article with images and videos embedded into it.
3 Why use RSS feeds? RSS feeds help to: ●

Receive updates from many sources easily

Receive updates as soon as they are published by original sources

Ensure privacy

Stay focused on the content that matters without being distracted by irrelevant "noise"
4 How to import RSS feeds into Intelligence2day®? This process includes 2 simple steps: 1. Get the URL of an RSS feed you wish to monitor 2. Save the URL in Intelligence2day® interface A more detailed description of the steps above follows.
4.1 Get the URL of an RSS feed Many websites have a special section with a list of RSS feeds they offer. One has to search for a word "RSS" on the home page or in the navigation menu. It is also common to use an icon like the one below to indicate that a website provides RSS feeds.

To find RSS feeds on CNN website (http://edition.cnn.com/), for example, one will have to scroll to the footer of the home page and find "RSS" links under Tools & Extras:
This leads to a page with many RSS feed URLs provided by CNN.com:
Copy one of these RSS feeds and log in to your Intelligence2day® dashboard.
4.2 Save the URL in Intelligence2day® interface 1. Browse to ADMIN -> FEEDS using the navigation menu 2. Click the "Add RSS feed" button 3. Paste the RSS URL into the "URL Address" field, like in the image below.

4. Click "Verify URL Address" and the "Name" field will be populated (if name was provided by the RSS feed) 5. Click Save
Sample article content and logo from RSS feed will show on successful retrieval and content will be imported to your Intelligence2day® dashboard automatically every hour. To see and manage all RSS feeds added to Intelligence2day® dashboard, browse to Feeds and click the button for ‘List all content’. The page looks like this:

5 Web resources providing RSS Feeds It is not only news websites that usually offer RSS feed updates. Here are some of the websites/services that have valuable content in RSS feed format: ●
News websites - CNN (e.g. http://edition.cnn.com/services/rss/), Financial Times (e.g. http://www.ft.com/intl/rss)
●
Google News - a service providing an easy way to monitor the Web for specific news searches (https://news.google.com/). Do the search and click the RSS icon in the bottom of the page to get the RSS feed URL.
●
Bing - Offers subscriptions to regular web search results via RSS feeds. http://bing.com/search?q=volvo&format=rss is an example of an RSS URL searching for "volvo". Do the search on a topic of choice, then add &format=rss to the URL in your browser.
●
Facebook – a service that enables you to get updates in RSS format from any open Facebook page. Firstly, find the ID of the page you are interested in here: http://findmyfacebookid.com/. Secondly, replace the number with the ID of your page of interest: https://www.facebook.com/feeds/page.php?format=rss20&id=10740459928672 4. The resulting URL can be added to your Intelligence2day® dashboard.

YouTube – a service that allows performing keyword searches in specific categories and delivers results via RSS. Sample RSS URL looks like this: https://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/videos?q=comintelli+intelligence2day, where the last part of the URL “comintelli+intelligence2day” is the query. Please note that Google News, Bing and YouTube RSS feeds allow doing pretty complex searches that can help identify and deliver only the content one is interested in.
