“WOW” what a crazy fullon year this has been. I can’t believe we have blasted through a year already! It has certainly been full noise around here that’s for sure!

We kicked off this year rocking over to Summernats in Canberra to fully cover that incredible “must do” event! Thanks to CHEMZ, we covered that event in Issue 29 to produce our special CHEMZ Summernats Edition. That is one massive, action-packed issue and definitely our biggest yet! Straight after that, I hooked the caravan on and headed South to the very bottom of NZ to capture Rev South and the Prowear Chrome expression session which we covered in Issue 30. That was one very cool trip! I love getting down South and getting amongst the action down there! My poor ole BA Turbo wasn’t happy about its third voyage South towing the caravan though and has been giving me grief ever since about the kilometers the poor ole girl has to do. It does do them well though! Haha After that cool-as trip it was fully back into the local scene rocking around the North Island capturing as many cool shows as I could squeeze in. We had our very own show with Jessica from Blissful Photography in Tauranga in November which was an awesome day. We’ve covered that one in this issue here so you can see what we got up to with the Farmer Autovillage Tauranga Motorfest show next up.

Check out our video coverage on our YouTube channel

As soon as the camera gear was recharged from that show, I was off to SEMA in Las Vegas to get blown away by that massive huge show! That is definitely one to get on your bucket list for sure! IT’S HUGE, and the build standard is out the gate!!!!

So this issue is another full noise action packed issue. We have our very own show and then we rip into AutoFest! What a wicked weekend of action that was of burnouts, cruising, shows and even a retro pageant to get amongst!

After three full days trying to capture all the going on at that massive show, it was straight back to Los Angeles and off to the Irwindale Dragway to capture the Nitro Revival Drags. That was so my highlight of the trip. FED Dragsters and Gassers are sooo my buzz!

So park ya butt and GET AMONSGT this one! Don’t forget to get amongst our YouTube channel as well with the huge coverage we do of the events over on that platform. Theres’s hours and hours of action there.

Next day was a Swap meet to wonder about before flying back to NZ to catch up with things here. So, it’s been a crazy full-on year for sure. In between all this going on. I’ve been trying to finish getting the Coupe back together and that’s been its own mission by itself. Holy, squeezing a Supercharged 400 Cleveland into an XB is not on any of my future “to do lists” and will definitely not be! DAMN that’s been a mission!

So have an awesome Christmas and if you’re having a break, don’t forget to pamper your ride! ROCK N ROLL all and thanks so much for all the support over the year! It’s been an amazing year again. ROCK N ROLL! Giggles (aka Bogan)

But it’s almost done, now that the headers are finally in! Like that’s been … OMG!!!!! I so want to give a massive thank you to our amazing sponsors that have stuck with us this year. We all know it’s been a crap year as far as business goes, but CHEMZ, Mount Shop and Castlemaine Rod Shop have been rocks with their support and encouragement to keep capturing all the awesome action that goes on in our scene to bring to you.

Photo credit goes to the awesome Rod Dunn from Creative Auto Photography

I don’t think I’ve ever done so many kilometers on the ground as well as in the air as this year! I also don’t think my feet have ever been as sore running around some of our massive weekend events before either! What a crazy cool year it has been!

I honestly can’t thank them enough and my only hope is that all of you support them like they do us here.

MOTORFEST 2024

What an amazing turnout we had yet again for our very own show at the Tauranga Crossing Mall this year. For the second year running, together with Jessica from Blissful Photography, we managed to fully pack the lower car park of the shopping mall with a whole heap of very cool rides. Ranging from home-built sport cars to hot rods, muscle cars, midget racing cars and alcohol snorting dragsters to import JDM builds and Euro performance cars including a Lamborghini Aventador!

long as the car’s different and cool in its own way, it’s welcome to join in and make the show the variety packed event that it is. To me, it really doesn’t matter what the ride is. We all put the same effort into building our cars to make them our very own. Whether it’s a custom build, restored classic or a performance animal, they all take a similar amount of work, effort and patience to get the end result, and it all starts with a dream. With some builds, that dream starts as a kid and with others, it just happens by chance with the ride grabbing your attention and making you go “what if”.

All this wow’d the massive crowd of people that wandered through to check them all out for sure!

Generally, all logic leaves the building when that “what if” happens and the beginning of a new creation is born.

I simply love shows like this. Where as

For this year’s show, we had Farmer

Autovillage join us to help make it an awesome day at The Mall. With a random name draw for two hundred dollars’ worth of fuel vouchers and some great giveaways, they also had a few of their own top-of-the-line cars on display for people to check out and even drive away in if they wanted it. The Tauranga Crossing is an awesome place for the show. With heaps of food stores inside and a massive range of shops to roam around once you have checked out the show, it works great for everyone! This year the weather behaved itself and we had beautiful sunshine all day, so there was no need to shelter in The Mall from the odd stray shower of rain this time. It wasn’t just a great turnout of cars in the show either, the Tauranga public turned up

Farmer Autovillage were on hand representing the modern performance with their awesome support.

in mass to wander around the rows of cool cars on display. Looking over the sea of people roaming through was absolutely awesome and the buzz in the air with the excitement was even more awesome! Steve Daniels kindly set up their tuff-as 1923 Model T altered drag car to sit some lucky kids in for engine start ups during the day. The smiles from ear to ear on the kids’ faces showing just how cool that dragster is to light the fire within our future drag racers. Mag and Turbo Tauriko & Tauranga were another awesome sponsor on board with a display of cool wheels and rides to check out. Our sponsors this year were amazing again with some awesome giveaways to give as random prizes for being part of the show and also raffle prizes for anyone at all to grab a ticket or three. With each car entered into the show, the

driver received a Mount Shop sticker with a number on matching the car entry number for the People’s Choice votes. Randomly throughout the day, we would draw out an entry number and hand out goodies ranging from car care products to Chemz packs and all sorts of goodies from our amazing sponsors. Prowear provided 5 massive gift vouchers for some of their custom race suits, Bowdens Own provided a heap of car care and polishing goods to give away as part of the Top 5 trophies and random giveaways, as well as a heap of goodies from Alien Speed Parts. For any entrant working on a car in the shed, we also had five one hundred dollar vouchers from Mount Shop to go towards the build for pretty much anything that bolts to the chassis! So it was a massive day for all those that came along! Rhonda at PURE CNC in Tauranga

designed and built six amazing trophies for the show. Five for the Peoples Choice and the sixth trophy for the Farmer Autovillage Choice of the show. Each trophy winner also received a CHEMZ pack of goodies and a Bowdens Own pack of car care products making for awesome prize packs to take home. Just like our first show last year, we were stoked to have people drive from all around the North Island just to be there and support Jessica and myself with what we do within the scene. It’s hard to describe how we feel about the scene because we both just love the action, the people, the creativity, the skill and we just love capturing it all as much as we can with our cameras. It’s a hell of a lot of work and a hell of a lot of hours that no one really knows about, so it is honestly awesome when people roll up from far and wide to back us just by being there!

Some seriously cool custom work in this Zephyr running a turbo rotary engine

As for our amazing sponsors, we honestly can’t thank them enough for backing us to do what we do as well!

Chevy Nova parked next to his fathers street / strip Chevy Nova, the show definitely had something for everyone!

Our only desire is that the people who follow us support our sponsors as well. After all, that is what keeps all our wheels turning and burning to the next event!

The Lamborghini Aventador was certainly a piece of auto art to admire and study the engineering in that design.

As for the standard of the rides rolling in for the show, I can honestly say “WOW” to a fair few of them! Seeing Paul Ransom’s brand-new interior in his stunningly awesome coupe that I’d sooo park in my garage, for the first time was truly “WOW”! Flicking back through the photos while making this article, I’ve seen so much more of the creativity that has gone into that build than what I did looking at it on the day! From a stunningly engineered twin turbo rotary engine in a Zephyr to the hard out drag racing blown alcohol guzzling V8

Listening to this stunning machine try and idle certainly pricked your ears up! Ramo Simpson rolled all the way from Auckland to represent the burnout family with his blown Holden one tonne ute with wheels wide enough to make sure no possum escaped! Standing up in the car park building gazing over the show area with so much colour reflecting in the sunshine and the massive crowd of people moving through was an awesome sight. With the cars laid out to show them off properly for our cameras and people to be able to wander about them freely made for an awesome show.

With Jessica and myself both being camera and car crazy, you sooo know that there is no way we would park the car park out too tight to take away any opportunity for grabbing a cool shot! So, all in all, it was a massively successful day for all involved and the feedback has been amazing! The bug from the first show last year certainly bit good enough for us to do it all again, so watch this space it’s about all we can say for now. Hahaha A massive thank you to all of you that came along to support us, it honestly means soo much to have the appreciation shown! Cheers all, SEE YOU THERE NEXT YEAR! ROCK N ROLL!

AutoFest 2024

GET AMONGST THIS FULL-ON ACTION PACKED WEEKEND! HOLY! What an action-packed weekend this event was! Downtime Entertainment certainly ROCKED IT with this one! It all cranked up on the Friday evening with a casual cruise to Repco in Pukekohe for a hard park show for some of the cars entered for the weekend. For those arriving late or just looking to get ready for the weekend, the burnout pad at the NAPA Auto Parts Dragway Meremere was open for practice skids before fully cranking it up on the Saturday morning.

awesome for being able to chill at the end of the day with your mates and soak up the scene, celebrate the wins and laugh at the losses! Plus you can roll in Friday night instead of the dawn breaker mission to get there first thing Saturday morning.

The weekend was split in two with Saturday being held at the Dragstrip and Sunday next door at the Hampton Downs Motorsport Park.

This weekend honestly has something for everyone. There’s no real presidency of what style of car can enter, meaning there is everything from hot rods, muscle cars, rotary to homebuilt, JDM and Euro performance rolling in to get amongst the action.

The bonus with the Dragway at Meremere, is that camping is allowed. It is such a massive weekend to get amongst, staying on the grounds is

The variety is awesome including the low -rider scene with custom bikes and all lining up for an awesome show ‘n shine to wander around.

The staging lanes for the drag area were set up for the show cars with an awesome display of cars from the Fast & Furious movies on display along with a great line up of low riders to kick it off. With heaps of parts, clothing and nicnak stalls set up next to the live band jamming away, it’s a pretty cruisy atmosphere to partake in the lead up to the drag racing and burnout sessions. The food and coffee stalls at the dragway are always awesome for catering to the masses. The drag racing was a casual line-up next to your competitor and go for it. No dial in times, just randomly line up or pick your challenger and sort it out for some fun drag racing.

Miss Bricka Diction had an awesome picnic basket for the Miss AutoFest comp.

Hayden Wilby with flames an all taking home a ticket to Summernats 37.

It’s always cool to see what cars can jump off the line and what cars reel them in at the end of the strip. Come burnout time and it was all go! With over sixty cars lining up to battle it, it was definitely going to be a massive day on the pad! An awesome contingent from the South Island rolled in to get amongst the action making the long trip up from the very bottom of the Island. With AutoFest and Burnout Masters combing to help send four burnout winners to compete at the famous Summernats 37 Burnout Comp in 2025 in Canberra, Australia, you can bet that it was going to be balls out or nothing on the pad for the competitors! With one round of burnouts to show your worth before qualifying for the finals, complacency was definitely not allowed here! As you can imagine with that many competitors, it was a full afternoon of wicked tyre frying burnouts to get through before the Top 20 could be picked.

With judges on the corners of the pad and the top judge from Australia’s Summernats there to score the points, it was a case of use the pad or not make the finals as all the competitors were already well versed with frying tyres! The name of the game here is a big tip-in with skill to cover the pad and sneak back up the tip-in lane for points and back around as much of the pad as possible with as much smoke as possible, and still drive off the pad in under two minutes. There were certainly some massive tipins going on! Fats Nicol always throws a massive tip-in in the LS powered Starlet but Ryan Shirtcliffe in VIOLENT, the turbo charged V6 Mitsi smashed the pad earning himself crowned “S1CKEST T1PIN KING” winning an amazing trophy built and presented by the one and only Jake Myers – S1CKO, famous for his blown Mustang shredding tyres in the Australian burnout circuit. The burnout finals with the Top 20 rolled on into darkness with some awesome flames, glowing exhausts and sparks from bare rims bashing the pad lighting the pad up like fireworks.

Miss Pandelina won Best Personality with her cheekiness for Miss AutoFest 2024.

The man himself! Wayne Brake from The Tip-IN showing he aint just lookin good!

After some incredible burnouts including blown engines, driveshafts and screaming limiter bashings, the final burnout was well into dark time making for a huge day at the pad.

The honour of winning this trophy for the very first time and the privilege of having their name on it went to Shaun Dury for his epic burnout of the night making an incredibly amazing event for him.

With prizegiving on the pad before the fireworks display to end the night, the top 2 drivers were announced, both receiving Pro Tickets with direct entry to the fiercely contested Summernats Grand Final at Summernats 37 in Canberra as well 2 wild card tickets with a final effort to make the big show at Summernats 37.

As you can imagine the celebration in the campground Saturday night went off rather well after the massive day it was.

The winners being PRO CARD WINNERS, Shaun Jury “BARELY”, Turbo six Falcon and Hayden Wilby “NUTOUT”, Blown Commodore. The two WILDCARD WINNERS being Hayden Kirkwood “MRRLPH” Rotary Cosmo and Leon Kenny “TAINTED” Blown Commodore Ute, all putting on an awesome show for the judges. This year’s AutoFest event had a special note to it. With the passing of Jen Ireland last year who has been an icon in the scene both here and in Australia, a special trophy was created in her remembrance as the “Jen Ireland Memorial Cup”.

Sunday morning rolled around pretty quick though and it was off to Hampton Downs Motorsport Park to get into some fun cruising around the track, roll racing, power skids and just getting amongst the scene again. A taxi stand was running for anyone who wanted to grab a seat in car rolling around the track which included some very cool Euro performance cars lining up to share the experience. Inside the main pavilion, the Miss AutoFest Pageant was running with a series of events for the contestants to show off their talents and skills in. This is always an awesome fun show taking you back to that cool era of retro. With lots of categories in the competition, the winners this year were Best Personality: Miss Pandelina, Best Biography: Miss Katie Cupcake, Best

Hair and Makeup: Miss Bricka Diction, Outstanding Outfit and also Runner up for Miss AutoFest : Miss Sweet Jean and the Ultimate winner of Miss AutoFest 2024 was Miss Stella Moon taking away an awesome bundle of goodies and the crown of Miss AutoFest. Outside in the carpark area remained a revolving hard park show as cars rolled in and off the track from the different cruising sessions. A good line up of trucks were also on display which is a pretty cool sight to behold. This is such an awesome weekend to get amongst! Even if you don’t have a cool ride ready to cruise the track or compete in the comps, just get along and enjoy the buzz and atmosphere this event has. Having the Dragway and Motorsport Park split into Saturday and Sunday makes for a full-on weekend of fun and entertainment for all and this is such a well run event to make the most of if you do want to get your ride there. So, catch you there next time! ROCK N ROLL 
