JOHANNES FLEISCHMANN: The Viennese Violinist
Born and raised in Vienna, Johannes Fleischmann epitomises the young and aspiring artists of this vibrant city. As the “Viennese Violinist” he has developed a remarkable repertoire, consisting of hidden beauties and highly-valued treasures of varied eras. His versatility and passion for chamber music are evident in multiple collaborations with outstanding musicians such as Rainer Küchl, Hyung-ki Joo, Norman Shetler, Christopher Hinterhuber, Sergey Malov, Andrej Bielow, Alexey Stadler, André Cazalet, Johannes Meissl, François Benda, Neue Wiener Concert Schrammeln, Symphoniacs and members of the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonic Orchestras.
Since his solo debut of the Brahms Violin Concerto at the Wiener Konzerthaus, Fleischmann has been appointed by the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a cultural ambassador, as well as the Artistic Director of the renowned Palais Coburg, and is currently teaching at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna as assistant to Elisabeth Kropfitsch. As a chamber musician, he has shared the stage with numerous celebrated artists and performed in famous concert halls including the Wiener Musikverein, Wiener Konzerthaus, the Great Hall of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, Philharmonie im Gasteig Munich, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Brucknerhaus Linz and the Flagey in Brussels. Devoted to contemporary music, Johannes Fleischmann has worked with notable composers throughout his career. Collaborations with Christoph Ehrenfellner, Serkan Gürkan, Fabio Vacchi, Paul Gallister, Rudolf Kelterborn, Ernst-Ludwig Leitner and others have been formative encounters and have led to several world premieres. Christoph Ehrenfellner’s Hunt Sonata and Serkan Gürkan’s Mein Wien have been dedicated to Johannes Fleischmann. He currently performs on a violin by Stephan von Baehr, Paris anno 2016, and is endorsed by Thomastik-Infeld.
