The1980s: A Totally Tubular Decade

During the 1980s, conservative politics and Reaganomics held sway as the Berlin Wall crumbled, new computer technologies emerged and blockbuster movies and MTV reshaped pop culture. Everything was neon and featured insane mismatched patterns. Color combinations were interesting to say the least. Fashion was stange and new, music was over-digitized and commercialism consumed everyone. The Cold War ended and the Berlin wall fell, which was a great achievement for the United States.

UPRISING

HOPE

Not only will there be extreme amounts of triumph in the world of politics, throughout the upcoming era of the 1980s, but there may also be a downfall in the lives of regular citizens of the United States in the form of epidemic. People will have a new enemy coming after the death of a more visible fear, communism. Not only will this fear cause similar effects to its Soviet counterpart, but it will also create tensions between certain groups and outcast those affected directly by the disease. Although this will become a fear in everyday activities, it will be extremely difficult to battle and most likely last into the eras to come taking the lives of many innocents. But this epidemic will not only bring sadness as it will bring people of all ages, nationalities, and sexualities together. Through the process of raising awareness those from all classes, especially celebrities will band together through performances and charity events. Not only will people raise awareness for ourselves here in the United States, but also for other places and people in the world. Money and aid will be given to those in faraway places as Americans become more aware of the suffering going on around them.

REVOLUTION

In the previous decade, the people of the United States have been kept under the thumb of fear of nuclear warfare and the spread of communist rein to their own homes. This fear has caused the innocent to lose jobs and be outcasted under false claims of being communist spies or conspiring with the Soviet Union. In the upcoming decade, the American people can kiss that fear and rejection goodbye as they watch it dissolve in front of their very eyes. The wall that has risen between social lives and protection from fear will at last fall, freeing people of all nationalities and backgrounds within the United States. Not only will fear of life be tackled, but women will finally earn their well-deserved place in the harsh world of politics after years and years of fighting for it. This will be a triumph for women as they become more inspired to enter the workforce and stray away from tradition homemaker values. Although their battles will not be suddenly solved within one decade, the revolution will begin at last. Lastly, politics will extend into areas in which they aren’t normally present, as the government continues to secure the defense from the Soviet Union rein.

FANTASY

REVOLUTION

The 1980s will prove to have great technological advances, differing from the previous decade. No longer will television consist of just movies and the same mundane made for tv shows, but musical entertainment will enter the scene as well. This new type of engagement will have the power to influence the physical styles and even languages of the younger and older generations. The radio will begin to lose popularity in homes as television takes over the scene combining the best of the two entertainment worlds. Not only will these technological norms we know be shattered completely, but a new kind of imaginative engagement will be introduced. Through the use of stationary and handheld video gaming devices, the minds of people will begin to undergo serious change. Their thoughts will begin to differ from ordinary everyday routines to the fantasy worlds in which they have explored from their very own homes. Technology itself will begin its very own revolution in the eyes of the people. No longer will the people be strapped down by cords and wires, but they will be freed by the use of more mobile technology. A new generation will be born from their television screens and lifestyle will undergo serious changes as the entertainment industry continues on its uphill stride.

The upcoming era, the 1980s, will also prove to be a lot of fun as the essence of pop culture begins its long growing journey. Television is going to become a large influence as the younger generation becomes completely submerged in its addicting grasp. People will begin finding similar solutions to their everyday routines, even switching from the traditional dining room table to their lazy chair for dinner time. Not only will the way of life change, but also the way people of the new century express themselves. Clothing is going to be heavily influenced by the favorite shows and movies of the people wearing it. In the foreseeable future expect to see wacky colors and interesting print combos. Exptic fashion accessories from other countries will rise in demand and teenagers will be buy them at excessive rates. The majority of these changes are going to occur in the younger generation and eventually be phased out just like previous trends coming before the ones of the 1980s. The new generation will be expressing themselves in all the ways previously mentioned, most likely creating suspicion and disapproval within the minds of the older one.
