Shrinkage Belts Daytex® Shrinkage Belts Controlling the World’s Excellence

Shrinkage, also called Sanforization, was patented in the US in 1954. This process is extremely important to the textile fabrics produced in today’s industry. Almost 80 % of all cotton fabrics are subject to the Sanforizing Process. The remaining 20 % are chemically treated for fabric appearance and/ or softness.

The oustanding status of Daytex® Shrinkage Belts has been reached through high efforts as reflected below: •

40 years experience in producing high quality shrinkage belts

Complete and full use of the highest quality natural rubber, sourced only from a limited number of approved plantations

A unique production method on modern computerized equipment: - Daytex® Cross Blend and - Daytex® Cross Bias Process

Your Benefits with Daytex® Shrinkage Belts • • • • • • • •

Constant quality of each belt Resist cracking even under heavy load Outstanding heat and chemical resistance Truly seamless Can be installed in either directions Unique homogenous belt structure for constant shrinkage results Outstanding long life Maximum performance for all type of fabrics

Synthetic Rubber Advantages

• • •

• • •

Excellent physical properties Good tear resistance Good chemical resistance

Lower raw material costs Even material quality Less fluctuation in raw material prices

Disadvantages • • •

Raw material price fluctuation Limited supply of high quality raw material Dependency on raw material import

• • • • • •

Will crack/split more easily than natural rubber Lower tear strength than natural rubber Less compression and recovery Causes unstable shrinkage after processing Can’t handle as much pressure and stretch as natural rubber Poor physical properties

Dimensions When ordering, it should be clearly specified whether the width ordered, is the belt’s working face width, or the belt’s overall width. For example, a Shrinkage belt with a short bevel will have an overall belt width of 25.4 mm (1”) greater than the rubber belt’s working face. To determine the ideal Shrinkage Belt width for any specific operation please take into consideration the following criteria: •

Cloth width - It is recommended that the rubber belt should have a working face width which is at least 75 mm (3”) on each side wider than the widest cloth to be processed. The belt width should not be more than 100 mm (4”) on each side wider than the widest cloth to be processed. Overall belt width - If at all possible, on narrow sanforizing machines, the overall belt width needs to be at least 25.4 mm (1”) less than the width of the shortest roller or steam cylinder.

Daytex® Shrinkage Belt Production Shore Hardness Daytex® Shrinkage Belts are offered with a 38° Shore A hardness. This Shore A hardness provides a maximum Shrinkage potential for all types of fabrics. The 38° Shore A hardness also provides excellent rubber durability. Belt Thickness We do not recommend the use of rubber belts thicker than 70 mm (2.755“). It has been determined in rubber belt life cycle studies that the thicker rubber belts not only do not last longer than the 67 mm thick belts, but in most cases the thicker belts provided measurably less useful life when used under similar working conditions. It has been determined that the greater thickness creates stress on the rubber belt and the machine parts.

The Unique Daytex® Cross Blend and Daytex® Cross Bias Process In the Rubber Industry Daytex is setting the standard for the Shrinkage Belt production. Due to the experience over decades Daytex was able to develop a unique production process. During the special Daytex® Cross Blend and Daytex® Cross Bias Process a perfect belt is produced without ply separations and seams. It is free of contaminants with a smooth interior.

What Makes the Difference? Daytex® Shrinkage Belts Daytex® Shrinkage Belts are produced in a modern industrial plant, where, from start to finish, all stages of the manufacturing process are computer controlled.

Older technology does not allow optimum quality.

Daytex® Shrinkage Belts are produced in a modern plant using numerous proprietary technologies, including the Daytex® Cross Blend process and the Daytex® Cross Bias process, which are exclusively used by Oerlikon Textile Components.

The outdated calendar technology relies on the combination of thin rubber plies, which often results in a series of problems such as air bubbles between each ply, ply separations, open seams etc.

Daytex® Shrinkage Belts are truly seamless.

Other belts, using thin plies, have starting (interior) and ending (exterior) seams. These belts can be installed in one direction only and have a potential of seam splits.

By using the Daytex® Cross Bias process, Daytex® Shrinkage Belts never have vertical seams.

Calendared belts are more prone to have vertical seams. The widest width the calendared sheets can be produced is 1905 mm (75”). Larger calendared belts are made by joining two widths together.

By using the Daytex® Cross Bias process, Daytex® Shrinkage Belts are free from contaminants.

Calendared belts can be easily contaminated. Foreign materials can be easily trapped between the plies of the belt and will later be exposed in the resurfacing process.

Daytex® Shrinkage Belts are constructed of 100 % premium grade natural rubber.

Synthetic Rubber construction has many known disadvantages.

Daytex Shrinkage Belts have a uniquely engineered packaging, assuring maximum product protection during shipping and handling. It also insures unequaled ease of removal of the rubber belt from the packaging and minimal danger of damage to the belt. It is ready to use out of the box for any fabric.

Others do not provide the same kind of engineered packaging as provided by Daytex.

Daytex® Shrinkage Belts have an outstanding quality assurance and support system: from opening the packaging to installing the belt, our professionals will provide customers technical guidance.

Other manufacturers do not provide the same level of technical support and service.

Daytex® Shrinkage Belts have an unsurpassed Support Team, prepared to assist the customer in every way possible.

Others provide only limited support.
