Happy New Year!
As we begin to execute our strategic plans for 2017, I first want to thank our members, industry thought leaders, analysts and guests that engaged with us in 2016. Whether you attended a town hall meeting, presented at one of our 29 topical events, participated on one of our peer group councils, or downloaded our industry research, I hope you received actionable information and made important connections that helped you advance your organization. Our mission to champion the interests of the automotive supplier community continues to be the driving force in everything we do throughout the supply chain and in Washington, D.C. For 2017, we will continue our strategic focus on the game-changing shifts in today’s automotive industry: • Be a resource on advanced vehicle technology - better understand and present opportunities and challenges for the supplier industry • Advance the interests of suppliers on a global scale - keep our members abreast of relevant international information • Command a seat of influence on legislative and regulatory issues and educate the new administration on the needs of the supplier community OESA is your resource for global connections, OEM access, a robust supplier-tosupplier network, valuable research and relevant industry events. If you haven’t yet joined a council, “test drive” a quarterly meeting to learn the industry’s best practices for addressing the common goals of the supplier base and participate in a roundtable on “what keeps you up at night.” We also invite you to come to a Government Affairs Committee (GAC) meeting to give your company a voice in our policy efforts through our parent company, MEMA. My team and I look forward to the new year and the opportunity to further advance your business interests. As always, please feel free to contact me at 248.430.5963 or jfream@oesa.org.

THE AUTOMOTIVE SUPPLIER’S GUIDE TO 2017: LEGAL TRENDS & INSIGHT | FEB. 2 On Feb. 2, 2017, Warner Norcross & Judd LLP (WNJ) will present “The Automotive Supplier’s Guide to 2017: Legal Trends and Insight for the New Year,” at the MSU Management Education Center in Troy, Mich. This session will shed light on trends that automotive supplier attorneys should understand and prepare for as 2017 gets underway. With a new presidential administration, there are still many unanswered questions, but in a pro-business environment focused on jobs and growth, suppliers stand ready to benefit from reform. At the same time, a president who has promised to be a law and order commander in chief will undoubtedly be holding businesses to a high standard of compliance. Navigating these challenges make business planning and risk management a priority for the year ahead. WNJ attorneys will share information and insight on legal trends impacting the industry, including: • Economic Incentives • Export Controls • Autonomous and Connected Vehicle Regulation • Possible Trump Administration Scenarios • Safety and Recall Policy • OESA Legal Issues Council Identified Issues Attendees can expect to leave the meeting better prepared to help shape their respective companies’ strategies to make 2017 a successful and profitable year. ► SUPPORTING PARTNER

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
HOW WILL TRADE IMPACT SUPPLIERS IN A TRUMP ADMINISTRATION? YOUR VOICE MATTERS The new Trump administration has indicated it may take a significantly different approach to trade and trade agreements, particularly NAFTA and China. Given that the vehicle industry has one of the most regionally and globally interlinked supply chains, changes in trade policy could have a transformative effect on supplier investment, locations and business models which are often based on free trade.
Member Feedback Needed Our parent company and advocacy team, MEMA, is seeking feedback from OESA on a wide range of trade issues, including China and NAFTA. The MEMA trade policy survey takes a few minutes to complete; member responses are critical as MEMA formulates strategies and action plans for the industry. The survey is available here and it closes on Tuesday, Jan. 17. Contact Ann Wilson at awilson@mema.org with any questions.
MEMA’s Trade Webinar MEMA will host a Trade Webinar for members at 3 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, Jan. 18. Confirmed panelists include Eric Farnsworth of Council of the Americas, Michael Robinet of IHS and David Hamill of Arent Fox. These experts will review economic information about the supplier industry and NAFTA, and discuss some of the steps involved in a potential renegotiation of NAFTA, followed by time for discussion and questions. The webinar is free but pre-registration is required here to receive call-in information. For more information, contact Tom Lehner at tlehner@mema.org .
