Gehring L.P.

The automotive industry is one of the classic areas for the application and use of honing. Whoever wants to be a leader in this field must make high demands on the precision of its engines and transmissions. Functionally optimized surfaces with improved tribological properties ensure lower oil consumption, emission improvements, reduced wear as well as lower fuel consumption. Gehring's wide range of products and customer-friendly service will convince anyone. In addition to honing, Gehring has developed another method for the production of functionally optimized surfaces - laser structuring. Laser structuring is increasingly being used for the roughening of surfaces. By roughening functional surfaces that have the function of static friction, laser structuring creates a nondissipative connection between two parts, e.g. between the connecting rod and crankshaft.

SURFACE COATING CONVERSATION – THE IMPACTS OF OEM REQUIREMENTS APR. 18 Join the conversation on the impact of OEM requirements relating to surface coating and treatments. The purpose of this meeting, to be held on April 18, 2017, at the OESA Conference Center in Southfield, MI, is to determine potential next steps in addressing this issue. Member participation in this meeting will help shape MEMA divisions activities in this area for the future. Business-to-business suppliers are frequently required to surface coat products in accordance with customer specifications. Many customer specifications require surface coatings that can be environmentally detrimental, which can lead to increased scrutiny by regulatory agencies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Insight discussed will help drive the applicable next steps. Capacity is limited for this event; early registration is recommended. We look forward to welcoming members to this conversation to learn how OEM requirements are impact them.
