Dear EPCAS member, Dear EPCAS friend, We are happy to invite you to our EPCAS Summer General Assembly, taking place from Sunday July 24th to Tuesday July 26th in Porto, Portugal. The upcoming Assembly revolves around the theme ‘Concepts & Formulas’, which is a perfect link to our host this summer; Artur Junqueira from Grupo Ibersol and Silva Carvalho Catering. Both companies offer a great variety of brands and specialties. Besides a presentation on this subject, Artur will show us some of his (preferred) venues and we get to experience a diversity in tastes during the culinary elements of our programme. Our speakers will use the theme ‘Concepts & Formulas’ as their focal point, as well. Also part of the official meetings are the EPCAS matters, and an elaborate interactive session on the development of the European Event Catering Academy. Porto is well-known for its historical city centre and bridges, excellent Portuguese cuisine and of course Port wine. All of these elements are incorporated in our programme, aiming to provide something inspiring for all. We look forward to welcoming you in Porto! Last May, the Pilot Course of the European Event Catering Academy took place with 16 participants, representing 11 companies from 7 European countries. The 3-day programme contained many elements, ranging from a training on personal behavioural styles to a culinary trend tour. During the session we will focus on the development of the EECA for the coming 2 years, so we can collectively build our academy.

HIGHLIGHTS TOUR, TASTING & DINNER CAVES FERREIRA When visiting Porto, a trip to a Port Wine house is an absolute must. Ferreira is the only great Port Wine house to have remained in Portuguese hands since its foundation in 1751. In the Ferreira Cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia, lies what is probably the largest and finest collection of nineteenth and twentieth century wines, the oldest wine dating as far back as 1815. We will end our first day with an exclusive dinner, by Silva Carvalho Catering, in the surroundings of the cellars.

TOUR, TASTING & LUNCH SUPER BOCK BEER HOUSE The Super Bock Beer House is full of tradition and authenticity, it is a truly unique space located in the production centre of Unicer in Leça do Balio. It is a “living house” in full operation where you can learn about the details of the brewing process. Besides a behind the scenes tour, we will get to taste some of Super Bock’s finest brews. Between the old coper beer kettles, we will enjoy our lunch prepared by Artur and his team.

MEETING, DINNER & PARTY CLUBE UNIVERSITÁRIO DO PORTO This mansion from the 19th century is the newest venue of Silva Carvalho Catering; an oasis on a prime location in the city. Throughout the day, we will have our meeting here. In the evening, we will have an exclusive dinner, enjoying the beautiful gardens of this venue.

6 BRIDGES BOAT TOUR Another a must-see in Porto are its 6 bridges. And what better way to do this than on a boat over the Douro River, offering us the opportunity to admire the old city of Porto, with its typical houses and the hustle and bustle of the Ribeira people, while admiring the architecture of the bridges that connect the two river banks.

LUNCH ALFÂNDEGA CONGRESS CENTRE Situated by the Douro River is the Alfândega Congress Centre (voted Europe’s Best Meetings and Conference Centre by Business Destinations Travel Awards 2014 & 2015), which is the former Customs House of Porto. With a private dock and an amazing view on the Douro River, the Alfândega Congress Centre is the perfect location to close our Assembly with a typical Portuguese lunch.

Registration & Costs Please confirm your participation by completing and sending the attached registration form to the EPCAS Secretariat via office@epcas.eu before Friday June 24th 2016. • Per EPCAS Full member, two representatives can attend the Summer General Assembly free of charge, as this is included in the membership fee. • Per EPCAS CoRB-member, one representative can attend the Summer General Assembly free of charge, as this is included in the membership fee. • For EPCAS Basic members, as well as for each additional attendee (national association representatives, potential members, business partners, spouses), EPCAS asks for a contribution of €795,- per person. The following is included in this contribution: • Hotel accommodation from July 24th until July 26th (2 nights) • F&B during the official programme • Transport during the official programme Should you wish to prolong your stay in Porto, you are more than welcome to stay an extra night prior to or after the Assembly (on own expense) at the Porto Palácio Congress Hotel & Spa for a special EPCAS rate. In any case, we would be more than willing to assist you with extending your stay.

Travel information Our hotel is centrally located on Avenida da Boavista; the longest street of Porto and the cultural and economic heart of the city. Even though the hotel is situated only 13 km from Porto International Airport (Francisco Sa Carneiro Airport), please take at least half an hour of travel time into consideration between the airport and the hotel.
