Derby Theatre believes that every child deserves the chance to fall in love with theatre. We’re asking for your help to give them that chance. 30% of children in Derby are living in poverty. 19% receive Free School Meals.* For these children, the theatre can seem to exist in another world. Through our Derby Theatre Children’s Appeal, we will invite schoolchildren in receipt of Free School Meals to enter the world of theatre and experience the magic up close. Derby Theatre’s in-house artistic team creates numerous shows for young people every year, including our spectacular Christmas shows. We have been producing children’s theatre and award-winning learning programmes for many years, so we know that the smallest spark can ignite an imagination. Engaging with the theatre has been proven to boost confidence and creativity, and enrich the way children relate to their world. With your support, we will open the door for children in Derby into a world of imagination and make sure no child in our city misses out on the power of storytelling.
