OCEANOLOGY INTERNATIONAL WELCOMES YOU I would like to welcome you to the Oceanology International Event Preview. Giving you a taster of what to expect at the 2018 edition, once again taking place in ExCeL London from 13–15 March.
Now approaching the 24th edition, Oceanology International has developed alongside the industry it serves since its inception in Brighton in 1969, and the very core of this event are the people who make up the industries we serve. Every two years, thousands of people from across Industry, Academia, Research and Government, including the users, developers and manufacturers of ocean technology come to London. What can you expect this year? Over the following pages you will discover how this world-class exhibition will again feature over 500 exhibiting companies representing 79+ countries from across the entire ocean technology supply chain including primary manufacturers, component and instrumentation suppliers, global service providers and contractors. Looking to upskill your knowledge? Attend our 3-day technical conference, with multiple tracks covering a variety of end-use and discipline-focused topics including Oil and Gas, Marine Renewables, Imaging & Metrology, Unmanned Vehicles & Vessels and Ocean Observation & Sensing. Discover the newly developed Ocean Futures Forum. This will form an integral piece of the Oi content programme, bringing together senior strategists and heads of business to discuss long-term energy trends, ocean growth, diversification and sustainability.
For the first time, Catch the Next Wave, in association with The Explorers Club, has been moved to ExCeL London on the final day. It will examine the intrinsic relationship between exploration and technology and how each drives the other. Pairs of leading explorers and senior technologists will discuss the role technology has played in man’s ability to explore environments on the seafloor, in the ocean, over the ocean and into space. Join us and be enthralled by the likes of James Cameron, Director of Avatar and Explorer, Dr Michael Gernhardt, NASA Astronaut and Rory Golden, Diver and Explorer, to name but a few. A full dockside, product and vessel demonstration programme is currently being finalised with a full schedule of in-water demonstrations already confirmed for the dockside theatre. Additionally there is a growing range of working survey and research vessels taking visitors on-board and around the Royal Victoria Dock. Whether you plan to explore the show, be inspired and see what’s new, reconnect with existing contacts, learn industry trends or socialise with new and existing networks, Oceanology International has plenty on offer to satisfy your needs. Be part of the largest gathering of ocean and marine professionals in the world, by registering today and place yourself at the heart of this fast-moving and passionate community. I look forward to seeing you in March.

CATCH THE NEXT WAVE FRONTIERS OF EXPLORATION 09:30 – 18:00, THURSDAY 15 MARCH Organised in association with The Explorers Club
Catch the Next Wave (CTNW) is a prestigious annual conference that takes a longer term view of the capabilities that are shaping our future ability to explore, understand, exploit and protect the oceans. This full day forum will highlight how the spirit of exploration drives forward science and technology, with consequent benefits to society and the protection of the natural environment. Speaker pairings, comprising a leading explorer with a scientist or technologist, will examine the role technology plays in exploring environments on the seafloor, in the oceans, over the oceans and into space, pushing the boundaries of what is possible. Speakers will cast a look at how emerging technology will make ‘waves’ for ocean exploration over the coming decades. Engaging, visual but also technical presentations are the order of the day. A ticket to CTNW includes a networking lunch and closing drinks reception.
