As a serious collector well-versed in classic style, Louis Cartier developed his own jewellery aesthetic and deliberately distanced himself from the Art Nouveau style. From 1904 onwards, his jewellery designs were characterised by geometric lines and

Louis Cartier was the force behind the introduction in 1904 of this watch, designed to be worn on the wrist, which caused a sensation in the world of watchmaking. Sensing the potential for success, Cartier soon grasped that this invention would transform the very nature of the watch and overturn the landscape of the watchmaking business. The wristwatch seen by Cartier would become an essential accessory, as functional as it was elegant. The Tank is a universal watch. Its shape, as if governed by a golden ratio, is not quite square, not quite rectangular. By turns masculine and feminine, the Tank asserts that freedom and elegance have no gender. RAISING AN EYEBROW

spent your life tweezing, waxing, threading and filling your brows trying to get that perfect arch? angela Beitz breaks down the best ways to achieve gorgeously groomed brows. Eyebrow trends

have become hugely important over the last few years and the industry has gone from seeing make-up brands offering a few eyebrow pencils to a full-blown range of gels, powders, pomades, stencils and much more. The lust for the perfect brows are high on any beauty lovers list with many other beauty procedures on offer these days. On a recent trip home to Australia I went to see a very popular salon which specialises in eyebrows - only. Being blonde and fair skinned, I wanted to boost my brows but in a subtle way. We decided on a reshaping and a very light brown dye for my brows. This process was simple and quick but I couldn’t get over how much it changed the shape of my face, not to mention saving me time when I applied my daily make up. My face had a bolder look, my eye colour stood out more and I noticed I only needed to apply very little make up. All this from a simple reshape and dye? I was sold. If you are looking for something a little bit more permanent (my dyed brows lasted about two weeks only) then microblading is your answer. Microblading is an incredible solution to a beautifully natural, fuller brow no matter how bad you think your brow situation is (think over plucked or patchy brows). Cosmetic tattooing has been around for a really long time, but microblading has become popular because it looks so natural. This procedure is well worth the expense but its best to do your research firs as your eyebrows are such an important part of your face and you want to get it right. Microblading involves a sharp object, but it isn’t painful and the results, if done right, are amazing. It’s a form of cosmetic tattooing, but it’s not the old-school method involving blocks of ink. There is no machinery involved—instead, certified specialists use a manual, non-vibrating tool with a tiny, wispy blade that deposits pigment under the skin to mimic the look of individual hairs. It goes nowhere near as deep as a regular tattoo, and the tool allows for more control to achieve those thin, hair-like strokes and leaves behind a dreamy set of brows. It is very natural, but it doesn’t last forever, which makes it great for someone who’s scared of maintenance commitment. It’s a great way to enhance natural beauty and shorten your everyday makeup routine. If like me you are fair or blonde and it’s your first time with microblading I’d 48

suggest a light brown to see the results and then you can always build to a darker shade next time. The other option is the powder fill technique of cosmetic tattooing, which typically lasts longer than microblading. This is because the needle used in powder fill brows goes deeper into the skin. If you are looking for a longer-term eyebrow tattoo, powder fill brows may be the best eyebrow option for you. The powder fill method uses small dots of pigment, gradually built up to look like natural eyebrows. This method has a very defined shape, but does not have to look blocky or heavy when done correctly. Happy browsing!

“It’s hard to put into words the first emotions you feel when first discovering The Reverie.” Our first pit-stop

in Ho Chi Min City (HCMC for short), after an eight-year absence, was sandwiched right in the middle of what was turning out to be quite the epic Vietnam adventure. Not the adventure bit; that was always planned. Rather the epic-ness was something that we perhaps underestimated when booking 10 different places to stay within the same trip – not counting the three sleeper trains required to get to them. Not so smug now were we? We had originally planned a meticulously organised excel spreadsheet, to end our 24 days in Saigon (HCMC’s other name) supposedly only reserved for District 1, but the moniker that most people actually usually use for the whole city. A sort of five-star, all out, city treat (good food, great museums and lots of shopping). But halfway through this mass voyage of ours, after planes, trains, automobiles and bicycles; far too much mountain hair and sun-kissed faces later; we were all itching for the noise, grit and yes, ultimate luxury, that only a major metropolis can offer. As we were finding out at every juncture, it’s actually rather tiresome and tiring to constantly swing between beach and mountain, packing and unpacking bags every three days, on repeat, for a family of four. Perhaps we had taken on too much? Either way we were all in agreement that a little urban interlude was now much needed before we headed to the island of Phu Quoc in the south, known only for its pepper, Fish Sauce Factory and forests. So, we penciled into the diary our little intermission smack bang in the centre of District 1, arguably the hippest, slickest, and most culturally diverse area of Ho Chi Min City, and more importantly completely walkable to every main sight in town, and at worst a 10-min taxi hop to the rest. “Let’s try something different,” I said excitedly, whilst flipping between various luxury hotel websites. And I meant it. It’s hard to put into words the first emotions you feel when first discovering The Reverie. They don’t happen very often, perhaps that’s why. When I say, “there’s nothing else truly quite like it”, I genuinely mean it. It is quite simply, utterly surreal. And this was just from photos on the world wide web. We landed at HCMC airport from Ninh Van Bay, all sweat pants, sweat marks and soul destroyed from a 3am start. When you’re lugging manatee-sized backpacks around in the middle of the night, sartorial success is the last thing on your mind. Big mistake. Entering The Reverie Hotel lobby a sweaty, saggy mess, was to be my very own 52

Even Rafi (my son) who is five. “We’re wearing trainers,” I whisper-hiss-shouted at my husband from under my hand. The lobby is quite simply, jaw-droppingly spectacular. Largely down to the whopping great egg-shaped-lightcum-sculpture hanging from the ceiling. “Are they dinosaur eggs?” asked Rafi with awe and wonder etched on his face. “No my child,” I replied with awe and wonder etched on mine, as the light beams bounced around the polished marble and gilt everything, “It’s Murano glass in the shape of Vietnam.” The interiors and design features, as I was going to find out all too soon, are the most fantastic, and yes totally bonkers thing about this beautiful property, followed by, in very close succession, the absolutely impeccable service. Far from being made to feel like a fancy dress version of the Beverly Hillbillies, the welcome could not have been warmer or sincerer. I might as well have been wearing custom-made Oscar de la Renta; we were treated like royalty from the moment the doors were opened by the immaculately suited and booted doormen, you know, like in the movies with one doorman either side and the doors opening in unison like the parting of the waves? The kids obviously thought it was a joke and we were in the wrong place. I was already on cloud nine, documenting the entire arrival on Instagram stories, and eager to slide out of the aforementioned hideous jogging bottoms and into some Frette sheets toot sweet. The Reverie Saigon is actually a multi-usage tower, comprising both apartments, offices and 286 room hotel boasting Saigon’s most expensive hotel suite, set over 39 stories, and the tallest hotel in Saigon. It sits elegantly and conveniently in the best part of town, neatly slotted between two of the cities key avenues, Dong Khoi Street and Nguyen Hue Boulevard, where crumbling colonial French buildings still proudly hold their own among their taller more angular modern descendants. The latter avenue is largely pedestrianised with a rather lovely statue of a waving Uncle Ho, the cities namesake, positioned right in front of the old Hotel De Ville, now the People’s Committee Hall, and still as beautiful as it was in 1908. One of the first surprises about The Reverie, is that in a city so well known for its monumental French architecture, is how quintessentially Italian the design is throughout. travel Escapes gilded and peacocked corner, laughing at you, as if to say, “you didn’t expect that, did you?” Well, no actually, as a matter of fact I didn’t. Take the upper lobby for instance (yes there are two lobbies, the first to presumably assess the riffraff and the second on the 7th Floor, to check you in), where you’re confronted by a cacophony of colour coming at you from every direction. Up, down, left, right, you’re dizzy before you’ve even thought of doing the hokey cokey. It’s often laugh out loud brilliant, especially much of the art produced by Visionnaire, and the beauty of it, is that it completely works. One part art gallery, one part design mecca and one part hotel, the upper lobby easily became my favourite place to stand and soak up the clever clashing colour usage, from swirling pastel rugs, to beautifully mosaicked flower walls and epic chandeliers. I want to make a joke about Versace, Louis IV and Liberace having a hotel baby while riding a unicorn, but the simple fact is that it’s really truly stunning. There are no images that could possibly do it justice. How could they when the list of brands who painstakingly worked on curating the interiors during the hotel’s 7-year build, range from Visionnaire and Colombostille, to Giorgetti and Poltrona Frau? The end result is nothing short of classically bombastic. And very brave. From the custom made green and gold Baldi Firenze clock worth $500k and standing 3m tall, to the Colombostile Esmeralda gold leaf and purple ostrich leather giant sofa (the only one in the world), the overarching aesthetic is one of pure unadulterated, unhinged and unleashed opulence. But you also get the impression that the design brains behind the interiors, that were scrupulously worked on from 2011 till the launch in 2015, also simply had one hell of a ride and a whole lot of fun in the process. Because that’s what The Reverie is at heart, it’s really really good fun. What could be better than a property who makes art and design accessible, to be enjoyed by everyone; that inspires, wows, and well, makes your day that little bit brighter? Interestingly, our particular room for the two-night stay, was surprisingly calming, with a pale green, white and cream aesthetic, albeit with gigantic glass floor chandeliers that we had to painstakingly concentrate on not knocking over. None of this really matters because it was outshined by two major things: the most insane views of the Saigon River from the 30th floor, from every floor to ceiling window, including the bathtub that was flush to the window and made you feel like a soapy superhero floating above the financial district, and the heated toilet seat. As one would expect, both the husband and the children found this absolutely genius. I was slightly more interested in the aforementioned Frette sheets and Chopard beauty essentials, not to mention the hippest high-end and contemporary shopping in all of Vietnam, right on the doorstep. The Reverie is a city hotel unlike any other, that’s for sure. It gave us the funny old problem of not actually wanting to leave and step beyond the gigantic glass frontage to explore the city, yet being in such a superb location to do so. It’s one that we have never encountered before, and will be doubtful to ever encounter again. If only all hotels were able to deliver that conundrum in a rainbow of pure art and entertainment. Jazzing up Bahrain The Bahrain Jazz Fest is the first international festival curated as a month- long (september- october) celebration of jazz showcasing a multitude of exciting artists from around the world.

azz was born in New Orleans about 100 years ago. But its roots can be found in the musical traditions of both Africa and Europe. In fact, some people say that jazz is a union of African and European

music. The Bahrain Jazz Fest is an open-air festival on 6 October hosted at the Royal Golf Club congregating vibrant sounds of jazz, blues, swing, gypsy jazz, Ska and electro as the spotlight falls on five highly acclaimed international bands and three of Bahrain’s best jazz outfits. After 13 peaceful years in beloved Bahrain, the country I call my second home, I still come across brilliant restaurants that I have never had the chance to dine in up until this date. Today, I visited Furn in the lovely Westin Hotel adjacent to City Centre Bahrain; very elegant place if you ask me! The marble floor, multiple decorative openings in the walls, the subtle earthy colors of tortilla, brown, and pine green matching perfectly with white globe lights like a Christmas dream . Coming from inside the mall, The Rotanda is a very casual place perfect for business meetings or a quick lunch break. Furn Bakery welcomes you with the scent of fresh bread with a coffee shop like setup amazing for those morning gatherings with friends. Passing by a beautiful arrangement of candles and spices, you walk in to Furn Bistro; a vast space of comfort and grace. And even though the Bakery and Bistro offer two different menus, guests can order what they desire from either one wherever they choose to seat. A warm welcome from the staff in charge puts us right in the mood. While we are waiting to be amazed, an open kitchen structure allows us to observe the vibrant energy going on in the kitchen. Shortly after, magic started to pore onto our table. We started with Arabic cold mezzah: Hummus, a flavorful Smoked Mutabbal, Fattoush, Authentic Muhammarah, and a yummy creation Njoumiyah Labneh. The last is a true discovery, I would order it solo with a cup of tea and a basket of fresh warm pita bread for breakfast or lunch. A couple of hot mezzah items followed with Batata Harrah, simply spicy fried potatoes smothered in comforting tomato sauce on a bed of fried onions... not traditionally executed but really delicious, chicken liver; pan fried with a bit of pomegranate molasses, and a plate of Falafel with a side of green salad. For the main course, we were treated with an original Chicken Machboos, Quinoa Madrooba; Furn creation figure friendly mixture of Quinoa and pumpkin with a rainbow of steamed vegetables on top - great 74

for vegetarians beautifully presented, and finally, a one-meter-long mix grill platter; such a crowd pleaser with a combination of beef Kofta, chicken kofta, shish tawook, beef kebab, and lamb chops. A wide range of beverages are available including fresh juices. And only in the Bistro, diners can enjoy an alcoholic drink. The end of this great meal came in a shape of an enchanted Arabic Ice Cream plate with three scoops of homemade glory introduced in a very artistic way over a cloud of liquid nitrogen vapor - an interesting experience if your child is at the table. We also had the chance to taste Muhallabiyah served with a scoop of rose ice cream and a sprinkle of Dragon Beard Candy - Arabic flavor perfection! It started off with having a dip in the Heat Experience chamber – made up of a steam room, sauna, hot and cold Jacuzzis. The beautifully ornate blue tiled space is exotic in one way and peaceful in another. We spent about 15 minutes there until we were whisked off to our treatment room to begin the indulgent experience. The Detoxifying Retreat starts off with a Shiffa Dubai basil and mint body scrub. Our therapist both vigorously yet still gently scrubbed us down and we felt our entire body open up. It was exhilarating. It was as if new air was entering our body. After washing it off, we had a gentle and caressing apricot and grapefruit aromatherapy massage using the Bahrain based brand Green Bar – the fruity wafts were sleep inducing but also made us feel alive and incredibly soft. The part we most looked forward to was the essential C facial using Natura Bisse products. Our therapist took expert care with our sensitive skin and made sure everything was applied with attention. We particularly indulged in the extraction process as we felt all the grime go at once and replaced with the supplest baby skin. The head massage we received as our mask was drying definitely did the trick too. In all, all the top-notch wellness boxes were ticked and the results were instant. After a hectic work schedule, I wanted to zone out and pamper myself, but, where to even start? After procrastinating over where I should venture to, my girlfriends quickly pointed me in the direction of Dessange, situated in Adliya. After a little bit of help from Google I discovered that Dessange is a Salon, Spa and Health club all of which are dedicated to women. They offer relaxation and rejuvenation at their spa facilities, personal training, fitness classes, a juice bar at the health club and all your hair, nail and beauty needs at the luxury salon. I sourced their telephone number and booked an appointment for a facial, pronto. So the day had come to overhaul my dreary skin and as I turned into their valet car parking area, I was already running through my to-do list for the day, but, as I stepped inside the reception area I was joyfully welcomed by their smiling receptionists and my worries seamlessly started to drift away. After taking my appointment details, I was escorted to the changing area where a therapist showed me how to use their private electronic lockers and advised me to put on their dressing gown and slippers. Well, you didn’t have to ask me twice, as I allowed the fresh fluffy cotton gown to snuggle my frame and sank my toes into their comfortable footwear. Absolute bliss. At this point I walked out and was greeted by my beauty therapist, Soknang. Offering me a glass of water and a refreshing towel I completed a consultation prior to my treatment, since this was my first time visiting Dessange. This enlightened me to the knowledge that I do not actually drink enough water, nor do I have a skincare regime to properly clear my face of makeup which can cause breakouts and indeed I’m not helping myself with the ongoing battle of the effects of ageing. We further discussed exactly what I wanted to achieve from my facial and we decided that the ‘Elemis SOS Purify Facial’ was indeed the best option to aid a clear complexion. Overall, it is a purifying treatment for congested skin. As Soknang went through the process I was pleased to hear that my SOS facial is encompassed as a powerful face and eye treatment that helps regulate and balance the function of the skin without being evasive. orsche is introducing the third generation of the brand’s successful SUV. A completely new development from the Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer, the Cayenne combines typical Porsche performance with excellent everyday practicality. Powerful turbo engines, a new eight-speed Tiptronic S gearbox and new chassis systems, alongside innovative display and control concept with increased connectivity take both sportiness and comfort to a next level. At market launch, there are two newly developed six-cylinder engines to choose from: The Cayenne’s 340 hp (250-kW), three-litre turbo engine delivers 40 hp (29 kW) more than the previous model. The 2.9-litre V6 biturbo engine in the Cayenne S, which reaches speeds of up to 265 km/h, brings it up to 440 hp (324 kW) – an increase of 20 hp (15 kW). Equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package, the new Cayenne S accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in less than five seconds. Based on the iconic 911 sports car, the brand’s SUV has been enhanced visually and features mixed tyres, as well as rear-axle

steering for the first time. On-road capabilities of the model are also further improved thanks to active all-wheel drive as standard, Porsche 4D Chassis Control, three-chamber air suspension and the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) electronic roll stabilisation system. Despite its significantly extended range of standard equipment, the Cayenne S weighs up to 65 kilograms less than its predecessor and remains perfectly suited to off-road use.

DYNAMIC DESIGN LANGUAGE: FIRMER DESIGN & LARGER WHEELS The appearance of the Cayenne has been further enhanced in line with the Porsche Design DNA. The enlarged air intakes at the front are clear indicators of the increased performance. Meanwhile, the new horizontal light edges result in the SUV appearing wider and more athletic, even when stationary. The Cayenne is 4,918 millimetres in length and 1,983 millimetres in width (excluding mirrors), creating a noticeably enhanced elegant and streamlined silhouette. The luggage compartment volume has been increased by 100 litres and now offers 770 litres capacity. The wheels are one inch larger in diameter, with wider tyres on the rear axle for the first time, emphasising the improved driving dynamics. The iconic Porsche lettering spans across the redesigned rear lights, which feature a threedimensional design and end-to-end narrow strip of LEDs. As standard, every Cayenne is fitted with LED headlights, combined with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS). This offers a variety of light modes such as cornering light and motorway light. LED main headlights with matrix beam including PDLS Plus, is the new top system available as an option. With this system, variable light distribution and intensity are enabled by 84 individually activated light-emitting diodes. This results in the Cayenne offering new functions such as high beam that does not glare opposing traffic, as well as adaptive sign glare control.

CAYENNE AND CAYENNE S MARKET LAUNCH The new Porsche SUV is launching in two variants: Firstly, the Cayenne with a six-cylinder turbo engine and displacement of three litres, delivers 340 hp (250 kW) as well as developing 450 Nm of torque. This all results in a zero to 100 km/h time of 6.2 seconds (5.9 seconds with the Sport Chrono Package) and a top speed of 245 km/h. The second model to launch is the Cayenne S. Driven by a newly developed 2.9-litre V6 engine with twin turbocharging, this model delivers 440 hp (324 kW) – 20 hp (15 kW) more than its predecessor. The vehicle achieves 550 Nm of torque and accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds (4.9 seconds with Sport Chrono Package) and has a maximum speed of 265 km/h.

NEW DEVELOPMENTS: REAR-AXLE STEERING, AIR SUSPENSION, ROLL STABILISATION Providing the optimal basis for the active chassis systems, which are analysed and synchronised is the integrated Porsche 4D Chassis Control system. The system works in real time, optimising handling even further. With the exception of the active PASM damper system (as standard with the Cayenne S), all other chassis systems are new developments. For the first time, the Cayenne is available with electric rear-axle steering – a system tried and tested both in the 911 and the Panamera – improving agility on bends and stability when changing lanes at high speeds. The reduced turning circle also makes every day handling of the SUV easier. The adaptive air suspension (standard in the Cayenne S) with new threechamber technology significantly increases the spread between a sporty, firm connection and the driving comfort expected of a touring car. Just as before, the system enables adjustments to the ground clearance on rough terrain. With the optional Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) roll stabilisation, sporty drivers benefit by changing from a hydraulic to an electric system.This switch is made possible by a powerful 48-volt vehicle electrical system. Shorter response times enable even more precision in the driving dynamics – and even more comfort on moderate drives.

FASTER ON THE ROAD, EVEN MORE IMPRESSIVE ON ROUGH TERRAIN: TIPTRONIC S AND PTM The Cayenne’s expanded range of improved performance and comfort, is due in no small part to the new eight-speed Tiptronic S gearbox. Shorter response times and sportier ratios in the lower gears enhance both on-road performance and off-road capability. At the other end of the spectrum, the long-transmission eighth gear ensures low torques, optimised fuel consumption and relaxed driving. On rough terrain, off-road modes make it easy for the driver to select the right setup for their journey. The SUV’s default setting is the Onroad programme, however, four other modes activate the conditioning for mild off-road terrain: Mud, Gravel, Sand or Rocks. The drive, chassis and differential locks can be selected to adapt to the relevant scenario. For power distribution, Porsche utilises the active all-wheel drive in all Cayenne models. The intelligent, fully variable Porsche Traction Management (PTM) distributes the driving force between the drive axles. Its hang-on concept is a key principle for the excellent sporting performance of the Cayenne. At the same time, it fulfils all requirements for extensive traction on non-tarmac terrain.

FOLLOWING THE 911: LIGHTWEIGHT CHASSIS WITH MIXED TYRES The new Cayenne combines three chassis concepts in one new design: sports car, off-roader and touring car. To achieve this, Porsche developed a new lightweight chassis base, with a front axle featuring a separated link design and a multi-link rear axle. Mixed tyres which are now on wheels 84

WORLD PREMIÈRE: PORSCHE SURFACE COATED BRAKE WITH TUNGSTEN-CARBIDE LAYER With its innovative Porsche Surface Coated Brake (PSCB), the sports car manufacturer is once again assuming a pioneering role in the development of high-performance brakes. This world first is available as an option for all Cayenne models and consists of a cast-iron disc with a tungsten-carbide coating. This finish increases the friction values, whilst reducing brake dust and wear. Exclusive to Porsche, the brakes are also visually impressive, with callipers painted in white, while the surface of the discs develops a unique gloss level after bedding-in. The PSCB is only available in combination with the 20-inch or 21-inch wheels, meanwhile PCCB ceramic brakes remain the top system in the range.

NEW SPORT CHRONO PACKAGE WITH PSM SPORT The new Cayenne offers even more potential when it comes to sporty performance. Porsche has redeveloped the Sport Chrono Package based on the model of the sports car, with the Mode button on the steering wheel,

a clear indicator of this approach. As well as the Normal, Sport and Sport Plus driving modes, the driver can select an individually configurable mode. Pressing the Sport Response button in the centre activates the engine and transmission maps, which are calibrated for maximum performance. REDUCED WEIGHT MEANS LOWER FUEL CONSUMPTION AND EVEN MORE DRIVING PLEASURE Sports cars need a lightweight construction, so similarly to the 911 and the Panamera, the new body of the Cayenne also uses an intelligent combination of alloy and steel. The exterior is made entirely of aluminium, the floorpan assembly, front section and virtually all the chassis components are manufactured from alloy. One particular technical highlight is the innovative lithium-ion polymer starter battery, which alone accounts for a weight saving of 10 kilograms over the predecessor model. In total, the weight of the Cayenne when empty has been reduced from 2,040 to 1,985 kilograms – in spite of the significantly extended range of standard equipment such as LED main headlights with PDLS, larger wheels, ParkAssist (front and rear), an LTE telephone module, Porsche Connect services and anticipatory pedestrian protection.

DIGITAL EVOLUTION: PORSCHE ADVANCED COCKPIT AND NEW PCM With this new generation, the Cayenne is writing the next chapter in the relationship between driver and vehicle. The Porsche Advanced Cockpit is fully integrated into the sporty, luxurious atmosphere. At the heart of the new display and control concept is a 12.3-inch full-HD touchscreen from the latest generation of Porsche Communication Management (PCM), launched last year with the new Panamera. A range of digital functions can be operated intuitively – including by voice control. The standard Porsche

Connect Plus allows access to online services and the Internet, as well as navigation. The analogue controls on the new centre console are focused on the main functions of the vehicle. Other buttons are harmoniously integrated into the smartphone-like touch surface, which produces acoustic and haptic feedback when operated. In typical Porsche style, the driver has a central analogue tachometer, flanked by two 7-inch full-HD displays. They present relevant driving data plus additional information selected using the multi-function steering wheel. Night Vision Assist with a thermal imaging camera is one of the most important assistance systems, along with Lane Change Assist and ParkAssist with Surround View.

YOUR PERSONAL CAYENNE – MORE CUSTOMISATION, MORE ONLINE SERVICES The new PCM introduces an enhanced level of interaction. Alongside the start screen and main menu being adjustable to the driver’s needs, up to six individual profiles can also be configured. As well as a large number of interior settings, a preference data is stored on specifications for lights, driving programmes and assistance systems. Depending on the equipment, the driver can also apply their own adjustments to the new sound systems from Bose® and Burmester®. Additionally, the new Cayenne is always online if the driver needs it to be, thanks the expanded Connect Plus services which are available through the integrated LTE-enabled SIM card. The Offroad Precision App, specially developed for Porsche’s SUV, is now also available as part of the new standard package. It allows roughterrain drives to be documented in detail, helping the driver to improve their own skills using video recordings. MISS OHLALA TRIES TO ADAPT HER FASHION PROWESS INTO HER GYM OUTFITS…AND FAILS.

There are many struggles that we dames face in life and my current drama is trying to look good at the gym. Having never been a fan of exercise I had to get over that first before now facing the inevitable “what should I wear saga” before each class. Because I don’t care what anyone says, we all like to dress the part. To make matters worse, it’s a simple fact that your gym will be brimming with attractive people looking at you with judgement while you try to hold that 2 minute plank while your face is as red as lobster and you’re trying oh so hard to look normal. Is it seriously too much to ask to rock up to a gym class in a perfectly coordinated outfit looking effortlessly striking? Well apparently it is. The people at the gym at winning at this and I am losing and I don’t like to lose in the fashion stakes. Yes, I’ll admit it. I don’t care so much that I’m not that great in an exercise class but if someone turns up in a better outfit then it can ruin my confidence for weeks. My gym is a live catwalk of the very best outfits from Reebok, Nike, Lululemon and Lorna Jane. My workout buddies are the perfect example of this. Not only are they super fit, toned and strong but they look so good in their gym gear it almost hurts. These women have full time jobs and children and they manage to continually look like perfection at each class. There’s just no stopping them. Then there’s my favourite instructor who turns up in perfect colour coordinated numbers to each class and I swear I haven’t seen him in the same gym outfit twice in two years. It seems I really needs to lift my fashion fitness game. My goodness, the pressure! It seems I need to swap my Manolo’s for a few new pair of Nike Flyknit’s for starters. The fitness industry is now a billion dollar a year business with Sports Luxe now having its very own clothing category and you only have to look at sites like Net-A-Porter which now have an entire section dedicated to luxury sportswear. It makes sense that the better your gym outfit the better 98

you will feel. The more your like our workout clothes, the more likely you will want to want to wear them. I’m not saying you need to apply a face full of make up or sport head-to-toe designer gear but putting a bit of effort into your outfit will give you a nice little extra boost of confidence. So maybe you are one of those lucky people who can do 50 burpees in a row while not looking exhausted or even perspiring the slightest bit or maybe you are more like me but the most important thing to remember is that working out is supposed to be about you, not about everyone else. Exercise is good for you, improves your mood, helps you sleep better and recharges your batteries. My best piece of advice for looking good at the gym? Have fun and fake it till you make it.
