With the nice weather comes the wedding season in this part of the world. From November to May (if you prefer warmer temperatures but not boiling), couples tie the knot and vow to stay together until death does them part. Ceremonies are planned in advance, and family and friends get together to celebrate the newlyweds. With residents from different parts of the world, traditions are also diverse, but our November issue comes with a white nuptial rite in mind. We bring gown choices, accessories, beauty styles and unique places for a destination wedding.
The opening of Printemps Doha is finally happening this month. We celebrate the new luxury destination in the country with a special cover and lookbook with some eye-catching styles available at the department store. The jewellery and watches scene is also expanding with Pomellato’s new outlet at Place Vendôme Mall and Blue Salon department store adding the unique creations from Qannati Objet d’Art to their portfolio. We had an interesting encounter with Guerlain’s Director of Art, Culture and Heritage, Ann-Caroline Prazan and learned more about this incredible woman and the giant luxury label. Continuing in the beauty department, we visited Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara for a couple’s treatment and went for some exercise at M Active Ladies. This month is also the kickstart of one of the world’s most anticipated sports event: FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. In this issue, you will find more information about the tournament, where to watch and more. Whether you are a meat enthusiast, don’t miss out on our dining experience at Hunters Room & Grill at The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa. And, if you are a car aficionado, read all about the INFINITI QX60 in our test drive.

Fernanda Langhammer Editor-in-Chief @ohlalamagazineqa editor@ohlala-magazine.comGeorges Hobeika does eyecatching evening wear and memorable wedding gowns. A brand-new and unique dress is in most brides’ dreams.
There is a British saying that brides should wear something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue and a sixpence in their shoes on their wedding day. We selected a few ideas to help you embrace this tradition.
When it comes to something blue, the options are vast, from a hairpiece to your shoes. However, if you want something more discreet, look for a piece of jewellery that shows off your style, maybe these not-sosubtle Fabergé earrings?
There's nothing better than wearing your old fragrance to your big day. Spray your favourite scent to help you carry your old self with you on this new phase of your life. Is Chanel N° 5 your trademark smell?
A heirloom piece of jewellery borrowed from your mum or grandma’s collection is the perfect delicate touch to your outfit. This Pragnell Vintage from FARFETCH’s pre-owned selection is a platinum Edwardian pearl and diamond pendant necklace.
A bride should place a sixpence coin in her left shoe before walking down the aisle for good luck, longevity and prosperity. If you embrace this tradition, a closed pair like these from Malone Souliers is the best option.

Say these simple words while wearing your dream dress or special frock. No matter your preference, wear what makes you feel pretty. It can be a fluffy number with layers of tulle, an effortless gown or even a suit. Combine it with eye-catching shoes to walk into your married life in something that fits your style.

While the bride wears pristine white, guests are expected to avoid this colour. The popular black shade is also not seen as the best choice in some cultures, which leaves you with an entire palette of colourful options. Get inspired by our selection of dresses and shoes in striking bold colours to help you celebrate the newlyweds.
Party gowns ask for clutches or minaudière! Small handbags are the key here, leave your everyday carrier at home and pair your look with cute little cases. You can choose a metallic item that looks pretty with any garment or a coloured choice to complement or contrast with your outfit.
Accessories are essential to any look, but mainly to add a special touch to your eveningwear. Choose goldy jewellery, shoes and bags to finalise your outfit with a sophisticated touch.
During the 1500s and 1600s, corsets became popular and were worn as undergarments. With time they started to show up as tops and are a staple in wedding dresses. They are a hot trend this season, and this Gucci at FARFETCH item is a stylish pick!
1. This clothing piece inspired FENDI to create their AW 2022/2023 collection. They opted for matching fabrics of corset and shirt for subtle yet eye-catching detail.
2. Wear your corset with a maxi skirt. CH Carolina Herrera has beautiful pieces with full-on volume that allow you to compose the perfect eveningwear look.
3. They can be worn by themselves; however, adding a corset on top of a buttoned shirt gives the piece a nice and wintery touch. Weekend Max Mara has an array of tailored items that pair well with this trendy top.
4. If you are looking for a different way of wearing this clothing item, opt for jewellery pieces that can do the trick. Rokh added some sparkles to its corset for a striking twist.
5. A dress with a waist detail in a contrasting colour like this Tory Burch number can have the same effect without adding an extra clothing piece to your look. A clever option on this trend.
6. Following the same concept of wearing the corset detail without an extra piece is embraced by Sportmax as well. However, in their case, it is printed in the fabric with a metallic effect – quirky and eye-catching!
November comes with a series of fashion-related stories happening in Qatar. From a charitable initiative to an unmissable exhibition. Check them out!
Gaia Repossi, Creative Director of the Italian jewellery brand, Repossi, has been appointed a member of the Fashion Trust Arabia (FTA) 2022 advisory board. The 2022 board is composed of a list of fashion industry experts responsible for selecting 24 finalists that will get the chance to showcase their work before the FTA jury. Gaia assumed her role in the family business at age 21 and has helped Repossi become a beloved brand for its luxe minimalism and contemporary aesthetic. The designer’s extensive involvement and networks in the fashion world make her the perfect member to provide expertise and guidance for the upcoming regional talents in the competition. The FTA’s mission is to support these local creatives by providing them with global opportunities and creating a network where they can participate in interesting conversations and exchange ideas.
Former footballer David Beckham landed in Qatar to launch his DB Eyewear Spring and Summer Collection 2023. The line is a partnership with the Italian Safilo Group, wellknown in the eyewear field for its high-quality glasses and for collaborating with many high-end fashion brands such as Carolina Herrera and Jimmy Choo. The launch event was set in a desert scenario, which was also the chosen ambience for the collection campaign.
The new pieces feature a complete selection of sunglasses and optical frames and the styles come in an elegant colour palette inspired by the warm tones of the desert, including soft shades of sand, brown and beige. The lenses are made with superior materials, including sunglasses with polarised options suitable for an active lifestyle, as they shield eyes from the intense sun rays. The opticals come with the DB monogram lasered on the frontal lens and a new sophisticated vintage-inspired metal detail adorns the temples to add extra oomph to the timeless designs.
Jewellery brand Bymystique has partnered with Qatari contemporary womenswear label By Noora F to create an exclusive line. The collaboration showcases several jewellery pieces, including the Starstruck Pendant, made with ethically sourced 18-carat recycled gold and diamonds, and the Star Signet Ring, also in 18-carat gold, which embraces the power of stars and symbolises new beginnings. Bymystique creations are ethical and environmentally conscious and designed with the mystic of healing power in mind. The contemporary collections consist of rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings. The brand was born with a mission to drive positivity, empower and inspire. “Collaborating with local designers in the GCC that share the same vision is something we are proud of. We look to further establish our partnerships with unique, creative local businesses across the Middle East to spread a message around positivity, sustainability and the power of local,” says Iman Fawaz, Founder and Creative Director of Bymystique.
As part of the year-round national cultural movement, Qatar Creates, Qatar Museums and Maison Valentino present Forever Valentino, an exhibition that pays homage to its founder, Valentino Garavani. It is the fashion house’s largest showcase of this nature to date and the label’s first presentation in the Middle East. A stunning theatrical experience, the retrospective show explores the haute couture codes of the maison and a voyage through Rome, Valentino’s home, where everything started and its identity belongs. Coinciding with the designer’s 90th birthday and the unveiling of the Valentino Autumn and Winter 2022/2023 Haute Couture collection, the exhibition is conceived as a vast panoramic view of the history of the label. The display is embedded in a striking scenography evoking the Eternal City (as Rome is known), which has been Valentino’s home since its foundation in 1959. The exhibition is happening at the design and innovation hub M7, located in Msheireb Downtown Doha, until April 1, 2023.
The fashion scene in Qatar is growing exponentially and many engaging activations are happening in the country. The new initiative, EMERGE, is a partnership between Qatar Creates, a gateway to cultural activities, and supermodel Naomi Campbell with her charity, Fashion For Relief. This venture aims to create new apprenticeships, afterschool programmes and university projects focused on creative and alternative industries such as general education, fashion, technology, art, sustainable innovations and agriculture. EMERGE will unfold in three main events leading to a grand couture show. Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the driving force behind Qatar Creates, said: “With the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, we stand at the cusp of an incredible moment for our region. It is our responsibility to seize this moment and draw the attention of the international community towards causes that benefit marginalised people across the globe. I am grateful to EMERGE for joining our efforts and I am confident that we can harness this opportunity to uplift and empower those who need it most while creating cultural milestones.”

Pomellato, the renowned jewellery label from Milan, opened a new boutique at Place Vendôme Mall.
Pomellato and its partner Ali Bin Ali Luxury – Qatar’s leading luxury goods retailer – unveiled a new boutique at the exquisite Place Vendôme Mall. Revered for its hand-crafted jewels that are fashioned in-house at Casa Pomellato headquarters in Milan, the brand has found a fitting home amongst the discerning connoisseurs in the Gulf state.
The 110sq/m boutique incorporates signature touches of the brand such as the deep red panels seen in their Montenapoleone store; the Catene collection inspired the gold grillage on the windows; and vivid colours evoke the precious gemstones that make Pomellato famous and desirable. The store also features two VIP rooms for private sales, designed for comfort, following the brand’s aesthetic codes including feminine, rounded contours, pink Alcantara (a type of suede) upholstery and the luxury label’s warm Italian welcome.
Pomellato CEO Sabina Belli said: “We are delighted to expand our presence in the Middle East with a new store in Qatar and in such a beautiful and prestigious location as the Place Vendôme Mall. The country is a true Arabian jewel and our brand is pleased to make a new home here with its unmistakable Milanese style and uncompromising quality of craftsmanship. We know that the Pomellato designs and creations are
already appreciated by the sophisticated Qatari consumers who look for a unique offering from the world of Italian fine jewellery.”
Crafted by expert goldsmiths, the label stands out for its unique creations and colourful gems which, through innovative stone cutting and setting techniques, have come to define an unmistakable and iconic style. Founder Pino Rabolini is said to have come up with the visionary idea of introducing prêt-à-porter to the then-conservative world of jewellery. Working towards a more eco-conscious future, Pomellato has now achieved 100% responsible gold purchasing. It has increased fair-mined gold purchases as well to create a special collection and continues to invest in the traceability of coloured stones and diamonds while exploring new materials and recycling solutions. Further, it collaborates with a Milanbased goldsmith school to safeguard consistency and craftsmanship.

These new creations from Vacheron Constantin’s Égérie collection are just what you need to add to your ensemble of luxurious timepieces.
The Égérie collection by Maison Vacheron Constantin is entirely inspired by and dedicated to women. In keeping with the brand’s belief of meeting expectations by designing timepieces as technically impressive as they are aesthetically stunning, this capsule symbolises the coming together of haute couture and haute horlogerie.
Each of the meticulously crafted, high-end Égérie watches invites you to make every moment more precious than the one before. Further, each of the luxurious timepieces in this range is a testament to Vacheron Constantin’s rich history. Égérie reinterprets, with refinement, the aesthetic codes from the manufacturer’s iconic models, some of which date back to the 19th century. The exquisite background pattern in the dial is inspired by a tapestry technique made possible by a unique machine dating from 1904.
The two new additions to this exquisite collection are the Égérie Moon Phase, which, as the name suggests, displays moon phases in addition to indicating the time. It revisits the tradition of skilful watchmaking with a
poetic touch, allowing you to follow the lunar cycle over a mother-of-pearl sea of clouds in a star-studded sky. The other is the Égérie Self-Winding, which indicates the date and time. Both come with three interchangeable taupe-coloured straps: in alligator leather, satin and quilted lambskin. Their inner beauty is revealed through a transparent sapphire crystal caseback. The numbers seem to float over a delicate drape of pure silk. While the original versions feature English numbers, watch enthusiasts in the Middle East can order a customised option with Arabic numerals. Their dials feature an 18-carat 5N pink gold ring set with round-cut diamonds. Accentuating the bezel in both versions are 58 round-cut diamonds. The Égérie Moon Phase is adorned with a total of 94 diamonds and Égérie Self-Winding, 92. The crown, used to set the time, holds a moonstone. Two of a kind, these precious bejewelled beauties come with an approximately 40-hour power reserve and are water resistant.

The Qannati Objet d’Art tagline is ‘The Art of Time-Keeping’, which is exactly what this unique brand offers – an exquisite way of both marking and freezing time.
If you are looking for a completely out-of-the-box concept when choosing your next watch or piece of jewellery, Qannati Objet d’Art is definitely the best brand to fulfil this desire. Mahmood Qannati created the unparalleled label in 2018, the first luxury concept anchored in France and Bahrain, designing handcrafted, wearable and collectable art objects. In the quest to make his ideas come to life, Mahmood partnered with two exceptional French master artisans, the designer Frédéric Mané, Qannati’s Artistic Director, and Jothi-Sèroj Ebroussard, a jeweller and sculptor. Both are well-known in the industry and have worked with the Place Vendôme elite, a destination in Paris for luxury and extremely high-end jewellery and watch brands.
“In Qannati Objet d’Art, we focus on the art of time-keeping rather than time-telling. Our clients are masters of their time. They travel through their lives, learning from their past, enjoying the present and having a clear vision of their future. And because every person is unique, Qannati is a canvas for those who want to celebrate precious instants by freezing moments and converting them into breathtaking wearable art pieces,” explains Mahmood.
Qannati’s brand philosophy and design identity revolve around the sacred geometry of the Flower of Life, an overlapping pattern of circles that have been present in art, sculpture, objects and architecture for thousands of years. The ancient ornamental motif symbolises divinity and power from the civilised world’s origins.
Each item created is a masterpiece with one-of-a-kind aesthetics and superior craftsmanship that combines ancient history and ancestral symbolism with authentic French savoir-faire in the jewellery-making and miniature sculpture fields. Qannati’s striking pieces can be personalised and express each client’s memory or favourite elements, a token to be kept forever. The brand is launching its first collection, Celebration of Time, with 13 masterpieces to be worn on the wrist.
All the creations are placed under a sapphire glass dome, each featuring a singular universe using a combination of precious stones and exotic materials to narrate, through miniature sculpted pieces, a chapter in the millenary journey of humankind. “Each scenario is designed to appeal to and echo what I call the dreams and aspirations of the wearer. They are a masterpiece of craftsmanship that bridges the aesthetic divide between art, jewellery and horlogerie, whether purely ornamental or functioning as a timepiece,” says Mahmood. This debut collection is comprised of six Eternity Bracelets and six Quantum Timepieces, each complementing the other as they can be worn separately or together, one on each wrist like the ancient kings of Mesopotamia. The 13th piece will remain in Qannati’s private collection and is not available to be purchased.
The Eternity Bracelets, each representing a chapter of the greater spectrum of time, from the beginning of the universe to the conquest of space, include Eternity Bracelet pieces titled Jurassic, Gladiators, First Civilization, Pearl of the Gulf, Monaco and Space Conquest.
“I have always been fascinated by watches and loved them on my wrist. However, I never cared so much about the time-telling part. In fact, when I see the seconds moving, I feel anxious, I think that I might be late and I feel that time is passing by fast like never before. Therefore, I decided to freeze time (or time-keeping). At the beginning of Qannati, I froze a lovely and dear moment in my heart. Every time I look at a 90-degree angle at the precious green emerald from my mum’s collection on my Qannati piece, I see a reflection of myself, which takes me back to when I was seven years old, holding my mum’s hand in the streets of Hamburg. It was a very happy moment and I don’t get tired of travelling back in time to it,” shares Mahmood. In high jewellery, brands find rare gemstones and then create masterpieces around them. Qannati does the complete opposite. They design the bespoke piece and then search the world to find the right gem or material, from fossilised dinosaur bones and meteorite rocks to raw diamond slices and natural freshwater pearls.
Uniqueness, skilled and creative jewellers, superior materials, passion for history, freezing time and beauty are some of Qannati Objet d’Art’s qualities. A combination of characteristics you rarely find in any other luxury brand – wearable art in its most refined conception.
For more information on Qannati Objet d’Arts collections, please call Blue Salon at 4446 6111.

OHLALA - After beginning your career in finance, you moved to the luxury sector and joined the Bogart Group, an independent fragrance and cosmetic company. How did that transition take place?
Ann-Caroline Prazan - It’s a beautiful story. It started with an encounter with a man who was the CEO of a luxury fashion and perfume house, including Balenciaga. I met him during an art exhibition and we discussed our passion for art and we just clicked; he hired me immediately. That’s how I started my career in the luxury sector. I worked with him for 10 years. Among other roles, I headed the marketing operational development for Balenciaga Perfumes from 1990 to 2000. It became a huge passion of mine. I discovered fragrances and the beauty industry; it was so amazing. Especially when you have a strong connection with your CEO, it’s not the same if you work in a big company and you are just a number. I had so many ideas all the time. It was fantastic because it was a creative playground for me. I was given carte blanche, complete freedom as we say in French, to create fragrances, to be inspired by the brands we had and especially Balenciaga House, with their fantastic archives.
OHLALA - You’ve just launched the biggest Guerlain boutique in the GCC, in Qatar, at Place Vendôme. Why did you specifically open it here as opposed to any other country in the region?
The French heritage perfume powerhouse Guerlain is renowned globally for its fragrances, skincare and cosmetics. The luxury brand dates back to 1828, when it started life as a small perfume business in Paris under Pierre-François Pascal Guerlain, who created scents for the rich and famous. Since its inception 194 years ago, Guerlain has created over 1,000 fragrances and still holds its own, despite fierce competition, in the luxury perfume market.
Ann-Caroline - We are very proud about that and to be here – we absolutely love the region. I’ve travelled here so many times and I go back to France with a huge smile. People in Qatar really like their perfumes and fragrances and they are so educated. It’s a passion for them and I love to share this passion with them. It is always a pleasure being here. I think Qatar is a jewel and so many people here love Guerlain, perhaps because they love the roots of the company. It’s so amazing to see that they know our perfumes so well. For me, it’s one of my favourite countries because we share the same passion. They also love art! It’s a small country but at the same time, they are so knowledgeable and proud of art. I always come here and visit the museums and exhibitions. It is a beautiful country.
OHLALA had the opportunity to meet Guerlain’s Director of Art, Culture and Heritage, Ann-Caroline Prazan, who talked about the brand’s success and why women should be daring in business.
“I think perfume is like a piece of art, it doesn’t use colours, but instead, a beautiful fragrance is ‘painted’ with the essence of roses, wood or jasmine.”
– Ann-Caroline Prazan
OHLALA - What makes Guerlain unique from other perfume, skincare and cosmetic houses?
Ann-Caroline - Guerlain is almost 200 years old. It is the only brand that does what it advertises: beauty and perfume. We don’t try to do fashion, bags or shoes. We stick with what we know and focus on excellence and I think that is important because no other brand does that. We have been the pioneers when it comes to memorable scents. We have revolutionised the industry. We have had so many firsts from the very beginning. We created the first ‘modern’ perfume in 1889. Our well-known fragrances are timeless such as L’Heure Bleue, created in 1912, and Shalimar, the first Oriental perfume for women, in 1925. Forty years later, in 1965, we launched the first Oriental perfume for men: Habit Rouge. This scent was a scandal because it was unusual to put sugary notes, vanilla and floral notes in a fragrance for men. But the brand believed that it was important to mix genders because, within each man, there is an element of femininity. That’s why Guerlain is so famous; we have always been daring!
OHLALA - What are your personal must-have Guerlain products?
Ann-Caroline - For me personally, the first one has to be L’Heure Bleue; it is my second skin. I feel stronger when I have it on – I immediately feel the difference! I think it has captured all my memories. The fragrance is amazing and L’Heure Bleue is more than just a perfume. My other favourite Guerlain product is our famous Terracotta Bronzing Powder, I never leave my home without it. The Guerlain family created it in 1984. In terms of skincare, I am in love with the Double R Renew & Repair Serum in our Abeille Royale range and also the Orchidée Impériale Light Cream.
OHLALA - You’ve had an incredible 22-year career with Guerlain and held numerous high-ranking positions, including Head of the Perfume Group and International Fragrance Marketing Director, to name but a few. What advice would you give to someone wanting to go into this profession?
Ann-Caroline - Work with passion and pleasure. Be curious. Please dare! Because I think today, for a long time now, the beauty industry isn’t daring and people tend to follow trends. I would advise anyone joining the industry to be creative. Be linked with art because I think back to when the founder, Pierre-François Pascal Guerlain, decided to collaborate in the beginning with the most impressive sculptors, painters, and artists; it was because art gives inspiration. I think perfume is like a piece of art, it doesn’t use colours, but instead, a beautiful fragrance is ‘painted’ with the essence of roses, wood or jasmine. Forget what you have learned in school and put more emotion into your creations. Put sincerity and truth into your work if you want to leave history and a legacy behind. Keep your sensitivity; it is our force as women. Men don’t have that. We must be militant. Are we too emotional? I don’t care!
@guerlainThe most interesting bridal hair and make-up trends of this season are shortlisted by Melissa Nazareth. Whether you’re a romantic, vintage, unconventional or modern bride, we have you covered.
Winter marks the onset of wedding season in the Gulf region. The weather cools down drastically, making it the perfect time for a garden or beach reception with family and friends. Moreover, the atmosphere all around becomes festive and merry, giving off celebratory vibes. While that’s the good side to planning a wedding, there’s a flip side too. Organising an event such as this, no matter the size of your guest list, can be a nightmare. In the middle of all that, as the bride, you’ve got to take care of yourself, so you look gorgeous on your special day. Our beauty team at OHLALA understands this. Whether you’ve decide to hire a hair and make-up artist or do it all by yourself, we recommend you bookmark this feature for an overview of some of the best bridal trends this season.
Characterised by a classical aesthetic, the vintage bride dreams of a Bridgerton-inspired wedding. Think gowns with balloon puff sleeves and corset bodices, which are trending this autumn. Complementing her traditional dress are hairstyles such as elegant ponytails and buns or braids. You could bring the best of both worlds together; braid the hair on either side of your head or tie one braid in the centre, starting right under the crown of your head. Then, connect the loose ends as a low ponytail or twist them into a bun. You could even braid your hair first and then knot the braid as a bun. Embellish with bejewelled hair accessories such as rhinestone and pearl-studded hair pins, exaggerated headpieces or veils, and even feathers for some retro glamour. The vintage bride doesn’t shy away from full-coverage make-up. She gracefully flaunts a bold red lip, which brings the entire look together. Intense, sweet-smelling scents complement her aesthetic. L’Heure Bleue by Guerlain was created in 1912, the perfect fragrance for girls that like retro scents. Its top notes are anise and bergamot.
The romantic girl has been dreaming of her wedding day since forever. She is feminine and, in a way, traditional – no coloured gowns here! The perfect hairstyle for this bride is the half-up and half-down look, with delicate beach waves or soft curls. It will bring out her natural beauty and feel like an extension of her flowy, Cinderella-inspired gown. We recommend accessorising with a fresh flower crown, seen on the bridal fashion runways this season, or fresh blossom studs to adorn her cascading tresses. Dramatic eyes characterise the romantic bride; having an autumnal solid aesthetic, the soft smoky eye, with voluminous lashes, is perfect for a daytime wedding and, perhaps, more intense for the night. Luscious, rosy lips complement this look, balancing the dreamy eye make-up. Floral and sweet fragrances vow to magnify the romantic bride’s aura. Viktor&Rolf’s Good Fortune scent merges floral and vanilla aromas, a great pick for the girly bride.
The modern bride is minimalist. While she believes less is more, she is all up for making a statement. It could be by wearing a piece of jewellery, a family heirloom handed down across generations, or a gown with asymmetric hemlines or sensual cutouts – very much this autumn. Keeping the focus on one thing at a time, the modern bride isn’t afraid to let her hair down, literally and figuratively. Embrace this look sans accessories or continue the asymmetric theme by gathering your loose hair on one side using decorative hair slides. Another option for hair is the messy updo or messy bun, which has an easy-going, contemporary vibe. The modern bride swears by the barely-there make-up look. It includes sun-kissed and glossy finishes. Accentuate your best features and stick to earthy pallets – warm peaches, beachy blues and sage green. Leave a trail wherever you go with For Her by Narciso Rodriguez, which has an irresistibly light, sensual scent.
Standing on the other side of the spectrum from the vintage bride is the unconventional bride. She doesn’t care for tradition; she makes her own rules. Move over, voluminous skirts, ruffled hemlines and tiered tulle! Hello, bridal suits. Whether you go for an oversized silhouette or a tuxedo-inspired fit, wedding suits for women are back. Sleek hair is the way to go here; the Dior-inspired centre-parted Dutch braids are a great option, accessorised with a beaded headband that replaces the veil. Ribbons and bows are this season’s popular bridal accessories and will go well with bubble braids, where you bring your hair together in a high ponytail and then tie it at multiple points across the length. If you have curly hair, the pineapple style or high ponytail on the crown of your head is a great way to show off those tendrils. Embodying the unconventional vibe are quirky winged eyeliners, metallics swept across the eye, and Simone Rocha-inspired face jewels. If you want to highlight that pout instead, a pop of bright neon pink could easily seal the deal. Unisex perfumes continue the non-conformist pattern. Maison Francis Kurkdjian 724 fragrance brings the freshness of bergamot mixed with white musk for a scent for all.
A spa day is a fantastic self-care moment, but it gets even better when accompanied by your significant other. Bianca Apps enjoyed a couple’s Hammam session at Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara.
It is no secret that as you dock at Banana Island’s jetties, you are greeted with one of Qatar’s most iconic pieces of architecture. The walk towards the Welcome Centre at the resort is said to make you feel that you have magically teleported onto a dreamy holiday island of white sandy beaches and golden sunsets. Our arrival invoked precisely that. The warm and friendly staff welcomed us with claps and cheers, and Cindy Beyers, the Anantara Spa & Wellness Manager, promptly ushered us to our golf carts. We hopped aboard and set off to our eagerly awaited couple’s treatment at the award-winning retreat.
As the palm trees and long golden stretches of beach passed by, Cindy filled us in on some details about Banana Island. We were pleasantly surprised to learn of the island’s fantastic and expansive activities for everyone, ranging from the
recently re-opened Q-ONE, the resort’s floating outdoor hubbly-bubbly lounge, to their famous surf pool experience.
Sitting on the back of the golf cart, whizzing through lush tropical foliage, it truly felt like we could have been on a farflung island in the Maldives or Seychelles.
Upon driving into the spa entrance, we were cordially greeted and offered cool towels and refreshing cold water with delicious dates and warm almonds. The lobby was impressive and welcoming, with deep earthy tones and lush greenery, exuding a feeling of wellness and tranquillity.
Cindy helped us with our new client forms and told us that we were being treated to the exclusive Golden Delights couples’ treatment, a Moroccan Hammam consisting of an exotic goldinfused mask and argan oil body wash. We were so excited, as Cindy made it sound like heaven; she wasn’t wrong.
We were then conducted through a lush courtyard that felt like a portal to a different realm of peace and tranquillity, transporting us to the grand Hammam reserved for the couples’ treatments. The space was composed of changing rooms, a lounging area, showers, bathrooms, a sauna, a steam room and a Jacuzzi that opened up to another garden, all to be enjoyed upon setting foot inside.
After changing into the rich, fluffy robes and comfortable slippers, we were greeted by our two therapists, who guided us to the Hammam bathing and ritual area. The space was breathtaking. With a gentle, soothing light and calming atmosphere, it felt like stepping into a Moroccan paradise, a peaceful haven of marble, blue and white tiles and a magnificent central fountain accompanied by the soothing sounds of bubbling water.
We were invited to indulge in a relaxing soak in the large pool that dominated the room and chill while our therapists prepared the steamed areas. After rinsing off the pool water in the steamy showers, our therapists applied a rich eucalyptus and black salt blend referred to as Savon Beldi (Moroccan black
soap). The fragrant blend was uber-aromatic and awakened my senses, promoting deep breaths and serenity. With the product on our bodies, we were escorted to the steam room, where we relaxed and drank cool water. After around 10 minutes, we were asked to lie down on the warm and surprisingly comfortable marble beds. At this point, the therapists poured litres of warm water over us from beautiful golden bowls. This was a new experience for both of us and one I thoroughly enjoyed. The soothing trickling sounds, paired with the weight and pressure of the water, felt like it was washing away the stress and worries of everyday life.
Then came the loofahs to remove dead skin and promote healthy new skin growth. These were amazing; I felt like I had brand new skin after this! The therapists then gently applied a gold-infused body mask, smooth and creamy in texture. The movements were so light that, in fact, we were both so relaxed that we drifted off briefly. While the mask was soaking in, we had our hair washed and we were treated to an express facial massage. This was a beautiful touch and elevated the whole experience. These bonus treatments were followed by the last
rinse in the stunning waterfall-style showers and it was sadly time to dry off and get dressed.
As we exited the Hammam facility and walked back through the beautiful gardens, leaving a little piece of paradise behind us, we felt so rejuvenated, relaxed and energised; ready to continue our island adventure!
The Golden Delights couples’ treatment was an amazing and unique experience that left us in extreme awe and redefined our ideas of Hammam. The quality of the products used, the outstanding and friendly service, along with the world-class, five-star facilities were genuinely exceptional. We are eager to return as soon as possible to try the many other treatments on their expansive and impressive menu.

An unforgettable wellness experience curated especially for women by women. Homara Choudhary spent an afternoon working on her combat moves at M Active Ladies gym.
Designed over two floors and kitted out with the latest stateof-the-art equipment is the city’s best kept fitness secret. M Active Ladies isn’t just a gym; it’s a journey and having frequented a number of health clubs over the years, I was surprised at the physical size of this venue and the number of women sprinting their way through a Wednesday afternoon on a treadmill. This establishment has almost 1,000 members and I was about to see why it’s such a popular choice amongst the fitness elite.
Raja, M Active Ladies’ Senior Sales, gave me a grand tour of the place. The changing rooms, which were immediately to the left as you walked through a discreet entrance, had a steam room, sauna and a Jacuzzi. It was extremely tempting to plunge into the sky-blue whirlpool, but I needed to finish the tour first. Shower booths surrounded the bright dressing area with its array of impressive space-age lockers. We walked back out to the ground floor, which is home to a reception area, a Functional Training gym for advanced members, a spinning club and the inhouse restaurant Calibre, where you can pick up a freshly-squeezed smoothie or enjoy a post-workout lunch. And it isn’t just a dine-in service, Calibre also offers various meal plans to help women along their nutritional journey. We took the lift to the second level, where a running track encircled the
entire floor. There was abundant high-end gym equipment imported from the United States, ideal for any kind of strength workout. The dedicated heavy weights area was impressive and framed by a row of treadmills, cross-trainers and air bikes – there was even a yoga and boxing studio! Finally, a gym catering for all tastes and talent levels.
Before I could begin cultivating Jennifer Lopez-style abs, I was introduced to coach Rania for my full InBody test. Each new member receives a complete body composition analysis when they join, measuring their total weight along with the amount of water, protein, mineral and fat in their body. A report with a full breakdown of the results was handed to me, including my muscle-fat analysis. Sadly it confirmed my suspicions that it was going to take me a few more months before I achieved a J-Lo-inspired washboard stomach.
Ever positive, Rania told me it was certainly possible and signed me up to the Body Combat class, which was filling up quickly. Dozens of women of all ages were pouring into the studio and it wasn’t long before coach Nour Abouassi was putting us through our G.I. Jane paces.
Body Combat is not only a great whole-body workout for cardio fitness, but it’s also superb for burning fat, releasing stress and improving your coordination. Over the course of 60 minutes, coach Nour had all of us punching and kicking our way towards our fitness goals.
A professional power-lifter, she’s been with M Active Ladies since the beginning of the year and has noticed an increase in women signing up to stay healthy: “I’ve seen more women be active every day and when I joined M Active Ladies, I was surprised at how many Qatari women were also engaged in keeping fit and loving the intense work. Previously local ladies would say, ‘please take it easy’, or ‘I don’t want to do this’. But recently, my clients have said ‘kill me!’”
The class was an intense muscle workout and I was ready for some rest and relaxation. M Active Ladies has a spa which was perfect for a postworkout massage and that was exactly what my body was screaming for. I was booked for the full royal treatment with a one-hour, full-body massage. Using lavender oil, my therapist, Shoebe, massaged the tension along my neck and shoulders away, one knot at a time. I was instantly revived and felt like the weight had literally been lifted from my shoulders. Suddenly ravenous, I made my way to Calibre to meet manager A’la Aly Almaz, who recommended the grilled chicken with vegetables to curb my protein cravings. She explained the success of M Active Ladies as I devoured each delicious morsel: “It’s not just a gym or fitness classes. We create a programme for women; we create a healthy lifestyle. We are building a community of healthy clients. It’s an overall experience. There is the gym, of course, but there are new classes each month, recovery stations, the spa, the salon, a healthy restaurant, and a box area for those at an advanced level, so it’s a total overall experience we offer.”
And what an invigorating experience it was. If you want to get in shape and have fun doing it, M Active Ladies is the gym for you. They also have a special promotion right now for new members. Sign me up!

EDITORIAL CHANGES)
After 12 years in the making, Qatar is ready to host the first FIFA World Cup in the Middle East. OHLALA brings some interesting facts, where to watch and more.
Chief Executive Officer, FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, Nasser Al Khater, said: “Qatar is ready to welcome the world and host a unique edition of the FIFA World Cup –the first to take place in the Middle East and Arab world. Fans can expect top-class international football and a vast array of entertainment options.”
Amongst many firsts in the 92-year existence of the tournament, it is the only time it’s being held during winter. With eight state-of-the-art stadiums poised for action, Qatar is ready to deliver the first World Cup in the Gulf. At least 1.2 million football fans are expected to descend on Doha to witness this piece of sporting history happening in the region.
A total of 32 teams will fight for the cup in 64 matches between November 20 and December 18, with the first Group A game taking place after the opening ceremony between the host country and Ecuador at Al Bayt
Stadium. The final will be held at Lusail Stadium on Qatar national day, December 18.
The event will happen in eight different stadiums across the country. The furthest distance between any two stadiums is around 70 kilometres, or 45 miles, meaning that it’s one of the most densely packed tournaments ever. The teams are organised into eight groups for the tournament’s first phase.
With four teams in each group (Group A – Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal and Netherlands. Group B – England, Iran, United States and Wales. Group C – Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Poland. Group D – France, Australia, Denmark and Tunisia. Group E – Spain, Costa Rica, Germany and Japan. Group F – Belgium, Canada, Marocco and Croatia. Group G – Brazil, Serbia, Switzerland and Cameroon. Group H – Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay and South Korea), the countries will play the other teams in their group once. Winners are awarded three points and losers get no points. At the end of the group stage, the top two teams with the most points in each group qualify for the knock-out rounds.
FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Fan Festival will be the heart of all activations in the country during the competition and kicks off on November 14 and runs until December 18 at Al Bidda Park. The site can accommodate a capacity of 40,000 fans, and the entrance will be free-ofcharge. It will showcase all 64 matches on mega screens. There’ll also be live music and culinary experiences. The Fan Festival also has three zones: Live, Food and Play.
Hayya Fan Zone is the second main fan zone and will be set up on the Lusail Marina Promenade. It will be open between November 20 and December 18 from 12pm to 12am and will have the capacity for up to 3,500 fans at a time with free entry. You can watch all 64 matches on the big screens. There will also be an ice rink for ice-skating and ballet shows, live DJs, international bands and local acts, and unique food and beverage options.
Over on Qetaifan Island North, football fans will be able to watch all the tournament action on the big screens and catch live concerts at the QetaiFan Beach Fest Powered by Unit-Y. Alongside resident artists and shows from international acts, including French Montana, CeeLo Green and Alex Sensation, there will be water activities, retail stores and more than 50 food and beverage outlets. Running from November 19 to December 18, the beachfront festival will also see artists like Ryan Castro, Oxlade and DJ-Twins take centre stage. The weather is finally starting to cool down and it is pleasant enough to spend some time outside. So why not give your garden a revamp? We bring the best guide to the task!
When planning out how to set about reviving your outdoor space, the first step, according to architect Jad Nadim Ghostine of G Design and Build, is thinking about both the hard and soft landscaping and the general layout of the space: “You would need to first decide on the zoning: the hard landscaping – wood, decking, tiles – and the soft landscaping – natural/artificial grass, plants and flowers.” You would then need to make sure the space has what Jad calls the five essential elements: furniture for seating and dining, shade (tarps, umbrellas, pergola), lighting, landscaping (flowers for smell, colour and beauty, trees for privacy and sun protection, and plants), and entertainment (fire pit, barbecue, pool).
“Having an outdoor space offers a place to getaway without leaving your own home. These areas don’t have to be super elaborate or even cost a lot of money to create. With the right idea, you could be enjoying your own private oasis by the weekend,” says Bre Doucette in her Rooms for Rent blog, where she discusses tablescapes, outdoor décor and patio designs.
Even though we know cooling weather is coming our way, we still have very strong sunshine that can cause damage to things in the garden, especially chairs. Jad says that “aluminium seating or teak chairs are best to resist harsh weather conditions and changes in temperature from day to night.”
Additionally, many of us use the seating in the garden for casual gatherings as well as dining. For those who don’t have the luxury of space, a good way to combine both, according to Jad, is having “low seating for comfort and slightly higherthan-average coffee tables” so we can enjoy meals without bending our backs. For tapestry, choose fabrics that are “outdoor-resistant and add warmth and colour” to your space, such as “earthy tones that have an organic feel to them and that blend with the surrounding area.”
If you are looking for brands that have this option, Calligaris, an Italian home furnishings company, recently released its Connubia Outdoor Collection with materials that are designed for outdoor use. Items that are easy to care for with quick cleaning, are water-repellent and stain-resistant, as well as UV rays and fabric-fading-resistant.
A favourite activity among all of us is cooking outside; hence, a dedicated space for a barbecue or fire pit is a must and needs to be carefully decided. Jad recommends you think about the following factors: “the direction of the wind for smells and smoke, a hard surface underneath the barbecue or oven for security purposes, proximity to the kitchen for easy access and convenience, access to electricity, drainage and water”. The fire pit can be a prominent part of your décor and an important factor when considering adding one to your garden is the style. Dancing flames help set a cosy atmosphere for entertaining and serve as a decorative element, while some can be used for minimal grilling and outdoor heating. Look for designs that complement your space and furniture. There are four main styles of fire pits to highlight. Fire tables add a beautiful and functional element. These models feature a ledge suitable for resting glasses or plates around the parameters of the flames. Fire pit bowls add a touch of elegance and generate heat during chilly nights. They are typically lightweight units making them easy to move around. Another alternative is the tabletop fire pits and bowls, which create a unique centrepiece, producing ambient light. And last but not least is the chiminea, a freestanding front-loading fireplace or oven with a bulbous body and usually a vertical smoke vent. They are a striking addition to your patio.
For additional ambience, flowers and accessories act as the cherry on the cake for outdoor design. “Choose bright and luminous colours for accessories and plants that add life to the space,” says Jad.
Bre recommends in her blog that you consider making your space as enjoyable as possible: “The more comfortable the environment is, the longer you will want to stay in it. Don’t forget to bring out some throw pillows, maybe even a throw blanket to keep at arm’s reach for those chilly nights. “Think about how you will be spending your time in your outdoor space. What things can you add to it that will make the area feel cosier to you? I always like to ensure I have a comfy throw pillow nearby, a small side table to rest my drink on, and a footstool, if possible, to put my feet up.”

At last, the wedding season has arrived, and the time has come for many couples to join hands and live in matrimony. For those of you wondering where to tie the knot this winter, here is a selection of some of the most unusual and beautiful venues around the world to ensure you have a ceremony to remember.
This intellectual landmark in the Big Apple is the perfect place for booklovers and old souls to wed. The library’s Stephen A. Schwartzman building is celebrated for its leading research, exceptional historical collections and dedication to providing free access to its resources. The library houses about 15 million items, including priceless medieval manuscripts, ancient Japanese scrolls, and contemporary novels and poetry. The building, which was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1965, emanates splendour, with its exterior and interior architecture reflecting the height of the Beaux-Arts style and every delicate detail having been hand-carved by talented artisans of the era. Having a wedding at this iconic venue will lend a sophisticated air of grandeur to your nuptials, with rows and shelves of great literary genius surrounding you.
@nyplThis exquisite masterpiece of a location can prove to be the ultimate wedding venue for couples looking for the height of class. With halls bedecked with stuccoes and frescoes by famous artists of the Belle Époque art period, as well as invaluable collections of paintings, tapestries and crockery, this historical manor is one of the most opulent places to say ‘I do’ to the one you love. Once belonging to a family of dukes, the venue is saturated with the atmosphere of Milanese aristocracy, who escaped to summer residences like Villa Sola Cabiati, the epitome of neoclassic style. The Villa is also famed for housing the bed that belonged to Napoleon and his wife, which was saved from bombing in Milan during World War II. Perched on the edge of the beautiful Lake Como, the residence flaunts an elegantly manicured Italian garden, with steps going down to the water, offering a majestic view of the lake.
@villasolacabiatiDracula’s castle might be the most unusual wedding venue globally. Infamous for its eerie tales of Count Dracula in the 1897 gothic horror novel by Bram Stocker, it holds great historical symbolism. It is part of Transylvanian history, Romanian culture and Victorian gothic literature and is perfect for those looking for a touch of mystery and thrill along with elegance for their special day. Built on a towering rock, the castle commands a feeling of awe, with labyrinthine structures and thick stone walls elevating its mightiness. In terms of wedding décor, picture exquisite flower arrangements, old-fashioned candles, elegant glassware and silverware, embroidered napkins and the trill of sopranos in the background.
@brandraculascastleThis idyllic location serves as the ultimate venue for intimate weddings in the countryside, a quaint barn that lies at the centre of the Perche Regional National Park. Surrounded by a moat, pond and century-old trees, this venue offers tailor-made ceremonies. Previously a fortified farm dating back to the 15th century, its old-fashioned architecture and personalised design, with two pepper towers guarding its gates, will give you the feeling of returning to simpler times. Restorations done in the 20th century lent the main hall its current form, topped with a roof shaped like an upturned ship’s hull. The 180sq/m ballroom, named ‘La Grange sur l’Eau’ or The Barn on the Water, offers a capacity of 180 seated guests and has a glass roof, letting the light pour in.
@domainedesevisLocated in the southern city of Malaga on one of the most sought-after Spanish coasts lies Finca Cortesin Hotel, a 532-acre ‘finca’ or ranch built and designed in the classic Andalusian style. This pocket of paradise is for couples who prefer a laid-back, serene, yet luxurious setting. Built around two main courtyards, the hotel includes 67 suites with antique terracotta floors, original carved wooden doors salvaged from ancient European castles, hand-painted wall coverings in soft pastel tones, exquisite furnishings and large windows. Outside the estate lies 23,000sq/m of verdant gardens, swimming pools and tennis courts.
If you’ve ever dreamt of a safari wedding, Governors’ Camp is the place for you. Located in the Masai Mara, Africa’s first permanent luxury camp is surrounded by abundant wildlife, grass plains and aged trees. The destination was set up in the 1970s to create a traditional tented camp experience. It houses spacious canvas tents, individual stone cottages and farmhouses. Whether you choose the ceremony to take place in the camp or by the Mara River, you will be escorted in a private decorated vehicle and be greeted by a troupe of Masai dancers. Couples also get to enjoy a private candlelit dinner on the veranda of their tent as well as breakfast in the bush of the Masai Mara. Additionally, they will be given a chance to plant an indigenous tree in celebration of their nuptials, a perfect finish.
@governorscampcollectionLocated on the island of Mahé, Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas welcomes the sounds of the sea on its secluded grounds adorned with palm and Takamaka trees. The resort offers a Tropical Wedding Package set in the beautiful gardens and a Premier Wedding Package on the beach with additional luxuries like a deluxe wedding cake and helicopter ride.

Ido love steak. It’s one of life’s great pleasures, especially when this pleasure involves a trip to Hunters Room & Grill at The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa. New on the Doha food scene, Hunters’ Chef de Cuisine Roberto Guerrero has wasted no time in launching a set menu grounded in his Venezuelan roots. Hot lemongrass towels refresh us whilst Roberto proudly brings forth the steak trolley, talking us through the cuts.
A great steak is a trademark of Hunters. The Black Onyx Collection hails from a single farm in Australia and is crucially 100% Angus beef throughout, which means you can have your favourite steak time and again, knowing that it will always be good. High-grade cuts are paraded in front of us and we marvel at the marble. The fat melts into the meat as it is cooked, producing the fullest of flavours and softest of textures. There’s also a range of à la carte offerings and the all-important set menu, with which we are about to be on first-name terms.
Hot on Roberto’s heels is Silvanus, a proud purveyor and producer of drinks. His trolley is laden with an array of glasses, botanicals, garnishes, spritzers and Silvanus’ new ‘flavour blaster’ , which produces a perfectly formed bubble of smoke that pops as it hits the contents of your glass. It’s such fun and his concoctions are delicious.
Roberto is back in a flash with our starters. So recent was its conception that the Surf & Turf appetiser hasn’t even made it onto the menu yet. Never fear, dear reader, it will be there by the time you visit, and I implore you to try this dish. A showstopping, live cooking dish in which Wagyu tenderloin, seasoned and marinated in olive oil, is blow-torched in front of our very eyes, topped with some delicately grilled scallops.
The dish comes sizzling to the table on its own grill, with a confit of roasted cherry tomatoes and a beef sauce. It is crowned with a black squid-ink tuile in the shape of a doily, delicately decorated with beads of tomato emulsion and micro-herbs. The tomatoes burst with flavour and the Wagyu beef is tender and meaty. The tuile has a gentle crunch, giving it a wonderful complementary texture, and the scallops, well frankly, I’ll do anything for scallops, so I’m quietly wondering if I should leave now as surely this meal cannot get any better. But there is more. Much more. The Tomato Tartare appears, heirloom tomatoes full of smoky flavours and accompanied by a very creamy mozzarella di bufala mousse, surrounded by more tomatoey goodness. Miniscule curls of courgette are lifted by shreds of pickled onions and a zesty lime dressing. We also try the Salmon Acevichado, a dish that is ‘eaten outside on benches in Venezuela’ according to Roberto. The salmon is cured with beetroot and orange for 12 hours and is served with a special tiger milk sauce made from the cooked juices of a grouper fish, green droplets of dill-infused olive oil, smoked chilli oil and crumbled tapioca crackers. The salmon is meltingly soft, the tiger milk has hints of lemon and the herbs and crackers produce not only fresh and new flavours but add colour to this beautiful dish.
It’s time to indulge in our mains, the Black Asado & Mango and Churrasco. Black Asado is a Tajima Wagyu short rib, slowly cooked in sous vide (a method of cooking in which the meat is vacuum-sealed and immersed in warm water) for 15 hours. There’s no burning or smoking involved; it’s purely cooked to reabsorb colour and flavour, giving the meat its black exterior. It is served in a monochrome presentation on a black plate with a creamy black squid-ink mash and a rather intriguing napkinshaped, smoked eggplant. It’s like an edible black paper serviette, along with a mango confit and pickled caramelised onions for sweetness. This dish is striking, soft and one of a kind.
Our mains crescendo with the Churrasco, a perfect medium rare piece of Angus flank steak. This sweet and nutty delight provides an anchor for the wonderfully rich gravy. The grilled broccoli melts like a crisp in the mouth with confit leek and a fresh yet unimposing broccoli chimichurri. The spectacular flavours of blue cheese and truffle warm the dish and complement the cashew purée; yes, you heard right! For me, it stole the show. I would eat this again and again and then some more if I could.
We close our meal with an Apple Crumble with vanilla ice cream whilst enjoying a Rusty Nail drink from Silvanus. Granny Smith apples and cinnamon are the trademark of this crunchy-topped crumble, served with a quenelle of vanilla ice cream, atop which rests a gorgeously crafted hexagonal honeycomb tuile.
Hunters is undeniably a premium and delicious offering for steak lovers, which is reason enough to visit. However, I urge you to go there not just for steak, because there is so much more to enjoy. Its warming comfort food straight from Venezuela and the perfect ‘something sweet’ on which we end the finest of dining sums up the experience. Chef Roberto has an eye for detail, a flare for ingenuity and a hearty welcome that leaves me feeling as if I were visiting him at his home in Venezuela. I shall return!

INFINITI is the luxury vehicle division of Japanese automaker Nissan, which has been producing premium motor vehicles under this label since 1989, with the inception of the INFINITI Q45. Ever since then, the brand has been developing innovative, drivercentric vehicles that showcase exceptional design quality in all aspects of their creation.
OHLALA has been fortunate enough to test drive three of INFINITI’s more recent offerings over the last few years, including the INFINITI Q60 Sports Coupé, the INFINITI PR QX50 Compact SUV, along with the INFINITI QX55 crossover coupé. This month, thanks to the supreme team at INFINITI Qatar, we got to experience the new INFINITI QX60, the latest mid-sized luxury crossover SUV from this proud Far Eastern car manufacturer.
As the morning of our test drive approached, we agreed the QX60 would have to be something special to live up to the label’s ever-growing reputation of consistently producing motor vehicles of superior quality. The moment the car came into view, however, we knew that INFINITI
had gone all out yet again, as we were immediately taken with every element of the exterior design that we laid our eyes on.
The 2023 model of this luxury SUV has been reimagined from the ground up, with this latest generation QX60 having been crafted to display a modern and refined look with its upright stance and performance-inspired styling.
At the front end, the uniquely fashioned grille features an origami-inspired mesh pattern that widens at the edges and, along with the standard LED headlamps – containing Kimono-fold patterning, emphasises the vehicle’s Japanese essence. These front lights also feature a distinctive piano key design that creates an unmistakable signature shape.
From front to rear, the strong aerodynamic form of the all-new QX60 is obvious, with full-length, dramatic yet simple body lines gently softening the robust stance of this powerful SUV. A fastback roofline, combined with standard 20-inch, machine-finished alloy wheels - coupled with low-profile tires, together hint at the on-road intentions of this highperformance vehicle.
Additionally, we loved the two-tone paintwork of the body, along with the black roof rails and the branded side door chrome strips present on our premium model.
“From front to rear, the strong aerodynamic form of the all-new QX60 is obvious, with full-length, dramatic yet simple body lines gently softening the robust stance of this powerful SUV.”
Lucky enough to be inspecting the top-of-the-range Autograph trim model, we were welcomed by an ultra-luxurious and functional interior design. This spacious three-rower is a family-friendly SUV with plenty of space to seat seven people comfortably. It features quilted, saddle brown, semi-aniline leather furnishings, complete with masterful, double-stitch contrast accents and piping.
The ergonomically designed ‘zero gravity’ front row seats are eight-way memory and power-adjustable, feature in-seat massages, offer plenty of both comfort and support and provide a commanding view of the road ahead. The second-row features captains’ chairs – standard with the Autograph trim level. The first two rows of seating have embossed seatbacks and rich open-pore wood accents.
To provide everyday convenience and practicality, the second row’s sliding and tilting seats allow easy access to the third row without having to remove already-installed child safety seats.
The spacious cargo area is accessed through a motion-activated liftgate and offers 749 litres of cargo space – an area easily made larger thanks to the flexible nature of the seating.
The all-new QX60 features INFINITI’s new InTouch 12.3-inch Interactive Display touchscreen that provides access to all infotainment features, including full smartphone connectivity with both wireless Apple CarPlay and USB-based Android Auto.
An INFINITI 12.3-inch dynamic Meter Display is paired with a crisp 10.8-inch head-up display that provides important information to the driver without eyes having to be taken off the road.
The wireless charging mat is large enough to support an iPhone Pro Max, ensuring all smartphones are easy to charge and stay connected.
We uncovered more noteworthy features in our interior time, including HD Radio, expanded SiriusXM functions, and embedded navigation complete with street and satellite views.
The 2023 INFINITI QX60 combines intuitive technology and impressive driveline dynamics with an award-winning 3.5-litre V6. This highperformance engine is coupled with an all-new nine-speed automatic transmission and produces 279hp and 350Nm of torque.
The all-new, direct coupling, intelligent all-wheel-drive system is another significant upgrade and almost instantly engages whenever it detects wheel slipping. INFINITI’s Active Brake Limited Slip functionality can brake individual wheels to redirect torque to the wheels that cannot secure grip instantly. The result is ultimate control in even the most challenging of driving conditions.
With all the power and performance features at our disposal, we spent a very satisfactory day cruising around Doha, receiving our share of admirable glances throughout.
To ensure you and your loved ones are in the very best of hands, the master craftspeople at INFINITI made sure to include a substantial suite of safety and driver assistance technologies in the 2023 QX60.
These features include an anti-locking braking system with emergency braking distribution, forward emergency braking with pedestrian detection, Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Driver Attention Alert, Blind Spot Warning & Intervention, Intelligent Cruise Control with Distance Assist Control, along with front and rear parking sensors, multiple ISOFIX tethers and a series of airbags throughout the interior.
In the 2023 QX60, INFINITI have managed to further solidify their impressive reputation of producing high-performance, luxury vehicles that are not only practical and packed with features but easy on the eye and a whole lot of fun to drive.

The wedding day is usually a hectic one. Even when you plan every detail, some things might slip your mind. Miss Ohlala highlights what couples typically forget.
Your marriage ceremony is an important event to you, your family and your friends. Even if you are having a small gathering, the feeling that you might be forgetting something crucial will afflict you. Here is a list of things to remember:
- Have a plan B regarding the weather. No matter if you live in the Middle East, where a sunny day is almost guaranteed, you should be prepared for a change. Maybe it will be unusually hot that day, or it might rain. Prepare a strategy if the weather plays a trick and tries to disrupt your celebration.
- Have a sewing kit in your first aid bag. You never know if you or any of your guests will have some sort of clothing malfunction.
- Don’t forget to eat. Most couples get so overwhelmed by the function that they forget to consume the food they carefully selected a few months ago. Even set an alarm if necessary to ensure you will take the time to eat.
- Make sure you have your phone charger with you. It might be a long day, and you will need to communicate with people, so having your charger with you will be paramount.
- Be present. Time will pass by so quickly, it is essential to take deep breaths throughout the day to take it all in and create the best memories.
