hese were the 6th Annual Awards for the Texas region and the organizations and individuals in this journal were acknowledged by the awardâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s judging panel to have excelled in their work in 2017, whilst also focusing on the industry core values of Health & Safety, Environmental Stewardship and Corporate Social Responsibility. The Oil & Gas Awards champion best practice and recognize organizations operating in the upstream and midstream sectors of the industry. The media and members of the general public do not distinguish between the different sectors of the industry, which is why the Awards incorporate categories for all parts of the upstream and midstream sectors. The absent mindedness of an individual on an assembly line can have dramatic consequences months later should equipment fail when being used in the field. This reflects badly on the industry as a whole, we therefore think it is extremely important that best practice is championed from top to bottom and the Awards are a platform to promote to the press and public the great work being done. The Oil & Gas Awards are unique in highlighting the incredible innovation and commitment to positive industry development and expansion, rebutting traditionally negative mainstream coverage. The Awards celebrate corporate success twinned with organizationâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s commitment to health & safety, environmental stewardship and corporate social responsibility.

Judges’ Comments: To see the Oil & Gas industry step up in times of crisis in the way they did after Hurricane Harvey is heartwarming. I’m sure Cheniere’s donation to the Red Cross helped those who needed it most at a difficult time.

Cheniere Energy, Inc. (Cheniere), is a Houston-based energy company primarily engaged in LNG-related businesses. We own and operate the Sabine Pass LNG receiving terminal and Creole Trail Pipeline located in Louisiana, through our general partner ownership interest in and management agreements with Cheniere Energy Partners, L.P. (Cheniere Partners) and our partial ownership interest in Cheniere Energy Partners LP Holdings, LLC. Cheniere Partners is developing, constructing and operating a liquefaction project at the Sabine Pass LNG terminal, adjacent to the existing regasification facilities for up to six trains, with expected aggregate nominal production capacity, which is prior to adjusting for planned maintenance,

production reliability and potential overdesign, of approximately 27.0 mtpa of LNG. Cheniere is developing and constructing additional liquefaction facilities near Corpus Christi, Texas (the Corpus Christi LNG terminal). The Corpus Christi LNG terminal is being designed for up to five trains, with expected aggregate nominal production capacity, which is prior to adjusting for planned maintenance, production reliability and potential overdesign, of approximately 22.5 mtpa of LNG, three LNG storage tanks with capacity of approximately 13.5 Bcfe and two marine berths.

Evergreen Chemical Solutions

Judges’ Comments: The before and after photos in both case studies show a remarkable transformation in a short space of time. I’m glad these were included as I don’t know if I would have believed such results if they were only in writing!

Evergreen Chemical Solutions was founded to provide chemicals to the oil and gas industry that will not harm the environment or the labor applying the products. Our products have the unique ability to break down hydrocarbons into a food source for indigenous microbes, which allows us to effectively clean oil off vegetation, trees, soil and hard surfaces. We supply our products to operators and service companies so that they can provide safer work conditions, cut down on liability and significantly reduce harm to the environment. Since 2013, Evergreen has partnered with a company to remediate 300+

oil base mud reserve pits in South and West Texas, as well as Africa. Providing this service gives a more environmentally friendly option to deep burying or hauling waste and liability from one place to another. We cut down on waste volume and the number of trucks on the road by remediating hydrocarbon spills around a drilling location, tank battery, pipeline or anywhere else a spill may occur, versus scrape and haul. Over the past nine years we have also helped operating rigs switch from using diesel and harmful chemicals to our nonhaz, water-based chemistry for general cleaning, line flush and spills.

PropX is a last mile frac sand logistics system that allows customers to move proppant from in-basin transload terminals to the wellhead more cheaply, more safely, more cleanly and with less noise. Rick Shock - Atlas Oil Company

Judges’ Comments: The Atlas FOCUS campaign is a clear manifesto to workplace safety. In collaboration with a strong training program, including Atlas SEALs, I am sure it will be a success.

Rick currently serves as the Vice President of FAS and Fleet Services at Atlas Oil Company. Based out of Victoria, Texas, Rick has over 39 years of experience in the oil industry and remains extremely involved in the Texas community, serving on the board of a local nonprofit—C.A.S.T. for Kids.

Throughout the entire process, this kept end-users in mind, using the same gauges found in fuel trucks in the Fuel Automation Station. By focusing on creating user-friendly innovations based on what customers need on the job site, which continues to drive the industry forward.

He came up with the idea for a frac fueling system in 2004 but his idea did not become a reality until early 2015 when he joined the Atlas Oil team. Realizing the potential of a fully automated system, which created a way for workers to stay safe by taking them completely out of the hot zone.

Through his tiresless commitment to safety innovation he has been able to bring his idea to life, disrupting how fuel is delived to frac sites. The safety and operational effeciencies are a game changer for the industry.

Xedia Process Solutions

Judges’ Comments: Boasting increased flow capacity and improved oil removal efficiency with no additional CAPEX requirements is impressive. The fact that this is all backed up with operational case studies, which show maintained performance over a 6-month period, makes this a strong entry.

Xedia Process Solutions has developed and commercialized the first step-change advance in media for nutshell filtration after more than half a century of the filters being used in the oil and gas sector. The technology, referred to as Xedia XDN modified nutshell media, is patentpending and unique to the world. The current ‘lower longer’ oil price outlook has caused E&P companies to squeeze budgets on CAPEX and to look for ways to lower operational costs. In conventional facilities, which are used to treat produced water (typically to be used for water or steam flooding as a method to improve recovery), this has limited operators’ ability to handle increasing water cuts as wells age by limiting available CAPEX for expansions. It is has also amplified the challenges posed by costs stemming from process upsets,

e.g., the clogging of injection wells or fouling of softening systems due to underperforming filtration equipment. In unconventional operations, operators treating and reusing produced water for completions rely on large systems with long residence times to hit quality specifications. Using XDN in the treatment process allows unconventional operators to improve effluent quality, treat produced water at higher rates and shrink footprints of traditional treatment plants. Xedia’s XDN media has been successfully implemented in West Texas, California and Colombia as a no-CAPEX, drop-in solution to these challenges. The media, when placed in traditional nutshell filtration equipment, can double the capacity of the filter, while simultaneously improving oil and solids removal performance.

RARE Technology (RARE) was formed for the purpose of utilizing advanced geoscience visualization techniques to evaluate 3-D and 2-D seismic data in order to identify oil and gas exploration opportunities. RARE’s velocity filtration in tau-p space removes complex noise problems and wavefield separation imaging in 3D 9C multicomponent seismic data.

A number of fantastic examples of not only charitable giving but also giving back in a more practical sense. It is always wonderful to hear about the Oil & Gas industry taking an active role in STEM education. I also particularly like reading about Williams volunteer firefighters and the grants available to them.

Founded in 1908, Williams employs more than 5,000 people and owns and operates midstream gathering and processing assets and interstate natural gas pipelines, including more than 33,000 miles of pipelines system wide that provide natural gas for clean-power generation, heating and industrial use.
