SUPERINTENDENT
The Glorious Church The celebration of the Easter message never grows old! The miracle of the victory of life over death and the deliverance from the chains of the grave affords hope for all believers.
“But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.” The cross may have stood as a tribute to the power of evil, but the empty tomb continues to testify of a Risen Redeemer. Death no longer holds the world in captivity. The church now rejoices as sin has been defeated; the devil has been conquered; and the captive has been set free. And the “result” is: “It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, for thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” The birth of “the church” awaited Christ’s return to the Father. His words were not empty promises, but instead, another day of miracles was yet to be revealed. The Comforter, whom the Messiah had promised, was outpoured upon a waiting world. As the 120 believers gather in the Upper Room, they heard a sound from heaven as of a
rushing mighty wind. That sound, filled all the house in which they were assembled. Instantly there appeared cloven tongues like as of fire, and it descended upon each individual. “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”
THE CHURCH WAS BORN! THE COMFORTER HAD COME! THE PROPHECY OF JOEL WAS FULFILLED! We remain a part of that glorious church. We must never apologize or refrain from proclaiming the Good News. WE ARE A PENTECOSTAL CHURCH – LET US CONTINUE THE CELEBRATION!

CHURCH
LEADING FROM A
Clean Slate
What are your priorities this year? What are you endeavoring
to accomplish? How are you planning to get it all done? Every leader needs an opportunity to re-evaluate and refocus on what this whole leadership thing is all about. Specifically, thinking long and diligently on what it means for us to be a leader is the idea behind a healthy season of re-positioning. That’s why I really like the beginning of a new year and how it can offer a fresh start and perspective. In this first couple of weeks of 2016, consider authentically asking yourself these questions for starters: Who am I called to be as a leader? Who am I called to lead? How should I lead them? Where do I want them to go? How can I get better at leading? With every new year I truly believe God grants the opportunity to dream, plan, and start again. We are given the privilege of unplugging ourselves from the past. As leaders, nothing speaks of freshness, focus, and new energy more than a clean slate. The last thing our followers need is a leader who is distracted with unfinished projects and cluttered by an unsettled or, even worse, and unforgiving heart. So, take time this week to really “unplug.” Ask the Holy Spirit to help you identify and let go of the luggage that would potentially weigh you down as you endeavor to enter strong into the new year. Another way to lead with a clean slate is to allow Matthew 6:33 to be the compass for your days: “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” What if we honestly sought first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness every day? I know, we are human and riddled with imperfections, but God is perfect, and with His help, we can more successfully put Him in the rightful place daily. Think in terms of seeing this practically. What does it look like for you to seek first God’s Kingdom and righteousness today? Rick Warren has provided a nice acrostic to the word F.I.R.S.T. - FINANCES, INTERESTS, RELATIONSHIPS, SCHEDULES, TROUBLES. With God’s help, we can lead in putting Him first in our finances, considering Him first in our interests, allowing Him to be first in all of our relationships and connections, seeking Him first when it comes to our potentially crazy schedules, and going to Him first when we are faced with a trouble or challenge. When God is FIRST, we will not have to worry about how we will be supplied for our calling nor feel the need to control situations or people. When God is FIRST in the leader’s life, everyone ultimately wins!
The slate is clean…at least for now. If we do not pause and take the necessary time to evaluate and plan, the earthly drift will take over. And, before we know it, our lives will be over-crowded and way too complicated. Eugene Peterson paraphrases the sobering warning from 1 John 2:15: “Don’t love the world’s ways. Don’t love the world’s goods. Love of the world squeezes out love for the Father.” The only way we can effectively prohibit our love for the Father from being squeezed out of our days this year is to intentionally take time to reflect, refocus, and, if necessary, re-adjust to God being FIRST in our life and leadership while the slate is still essentially clean! Lead from that clean slate this year!

Place of Hope
WOMEN’S
On January 15th, over 1500 ladies gathered around our state to
make a difference for missions. It was a night of excitement and fun as we met in 13 locations. This year’s project was the Place of Hope, Ladies Teen Challenge of Uruguay. We have joined with Oklahoma Missionaries Trent & Tina Morrow to see a new kitchen built for this ministry. The offering for this year’s LIFE project totaled $19,500! Thank you for your sacrifice and obedience in giving to this need! LIFE pledges continue to come in and have already reached over $100,000. We are full of anticipation to see what God does through Oklahoma Women’s Ministries in 2016!

Falling Forward Falling Forward John C. Maxwell
Like many of you, I have learned to love
the art of reading books. I remember the summers when school was out, Mom would take us to the local library in Mustang, Oklahoma which was nothing more than a trailer house parked in the middle of the city. We would spend hours during the summer reading books. Little did I know that those times of reading would serve me well in the ministry many years down the road. I sit here today having read what feels like a vast amount of books and I’m thankful for the lessons I have learned in many of those pages. Jill and I are currently raising what will be our greatest disciple in our 16 year old son, Seth. What a joy it really is walking with him day in and day out. One of the things that Seth and I started several years ago was reading books together. These books are special, because they influenced me in my young years as well into adulthood. Now I get to share those moments with my son. Which brings us to the book at hand: “Failing Forward” By: John C. Maxwell. If the possibility of failure were erased, what would you attempt to achieve? To even imply that it might be possible gives people the wrong impression. So here’s a better question: If your perception of and response to failure were changed, what would you attempt to achieve? The truth is there is no achievement without failure!
If my son and you and I for that matter can grasp the fact that failure is a part of success. If we could change our perspective on failure, it would help us persevere and ultimately achieve our God given desires. HERE ARE SEVEN THINGS THAT FAILURE IS NOT…….. 1. PEOPLE THINK FAILURE IS AVOIDABLE—IT’S NOT 2. PEOPLE THINK FAILURE IS AN EVENT—IT’S NOT 3. PEOPLE THINK FAILURE IS OBJECTIVE—IT’S NOT 4. PEOPLE THINK FAILURE IS THE ENEMY—ITS NOT 5. PEOPLE THINK FAILURE IS IRREVERSIBLE—IT’S NOT 6. PEOPLE THINK FAILURE IS A STIGMA—IT’S NOT 7. PEOPLE THINK FAILURE IS FINAL—IT’S NOT For more on these seven things, check out “Failing Forward”. We have a limited number of free copies in the OYM office. If you would like a free copy, simply email Cody Phillips, at Cody.Phillips@okag.org, your request along with your full mailing address and we will get one mailed to you. BGMC Day of Beauty In years past, churches across Oklahoma have done a fantastic
job of supporting our Annual Springtime Pheasant Hunts. In the last five years those events have generated around $50,000 for various Oklahoma Missionaries around the world. This year we have decided to try something a little different. On Friday, May 20th, the Oklahoma Children’s Ministries (OCM) Department will be sponsoring a BGMC Day of Beauty, which will take place at Bethesda Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This free event is for pastors, pastors wives, church leaders, and business leaders, includes a day of manicures, pedicures, and chair massages. Throughout the morning we will also be snacking and nibbling on goodies prepared by Southern Hospitality, which is the group of ladies that prepare meals for events at Bethesda. We will then have a delicious lunch and learn about the BGMC project that the event is sponsoring.

The funds raised from this event are designated go towards projects that are being led by Missionary Fari Rider. Fari will be present giving a presentation and sharing her heart as well as information about her ministry in Taiwan. Although this is a free event, it is a BGMC fundraiser. Each participant is asked to set a B.G.M.C. goal of at least $1200 for the projects that are represented on that day. If you would like more details on this event and plan on attending, you can notify the OCM office at (405) 475-1172. We ask that you please reserve your spot as soon as possible because of the limited spots that are available. Please let us know by May 13th if you plan on attending.
