WH AT WOU LD THIS WORLD LOOK LIK E W IT H OU T
THE CHURCH?
History records the impact of the church over the span
of many centuries. It was demonstrated through the leadership of prophets, priests, and nobility during the years covered by the Old Testament. Even the first created couple experienced worship directly with God in a personal way as they walked with Him numerous times in the Garden of Eden. The altar became a central focus for kings and rulers, sometimes it became representative of false gods but there remained an altar of sacrifice that was holy and acceptable to God. There was no question that Jesus was revealed as the Son of God as He walked, taught, and communed with society during His 33 years of life. He was known to be found in the synagogue and confounded even the experts of His day with His comprehension of The Word of God. There was never an opportunity for experiencing the presence of God in such an intimate way as it was described by Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. God, in the Flesh, dwelt among His people! The New Testament church emerged on the Day of Pentecost as the Spirit was outpoured upon the 120 in the Upper Room. Peter declared “this is that” as he eloquently proclaimed the Good News to the multitude that had gathered in the streets of Jerusalem. As Paul launched his missionary journeys, the Church was planted as the Gospel was spread from city to city. The prophetic words written by John the Revelator describes the Church as it will be at the end of this age and during the Millennium and into the New Heaven and the New Earth. THE CHURCH IS ALIVE AND WELL! People have rebuffed the Church by claiming it to be irrelevant, out dated, and unrealistic. Yet governments have based their values to reflect its morality. Insurgents have established armies and promoted philosophies in an attempt to eliminate it, but the Church has survived. Dictators and self-proclaimed leaders have attempted to position themselves as infallible and equal with God; however, they have died – and never returned but remained in the grave. But our GOD LIVES AND REIGNS!
At present – we have two counties in Oklahoma without an AG presence! We can and we must ask God to help us to find a creative means whereby to establish an Assemblies of God church in Alfalfa and Cimarron Counties. The Word encourages us to pray that the Lord of the Harvest would send forth laborers. The task may seem difficult but with God all things are possible. Some would counter by claiming that there are “other Pentecostal groups” scattered across those counties. I WOULD RESPOND – BUT WHERE ARE WE? Some would object due to the lack of glamor based on the small population of those counties. I WOULD RESPOND – BUT WERE WE NOT CALLED TO REACH THE LEAST, THE LAST, AND THE LOST? What would Oklahoma look like if every one of our churches were to lock arms with another church – and another church – and another church – until we became one united force? If we are to accomplish the Great Commission, it will take an army of united forces with only one reason for being. WE MUST REACH OUR WORLD WHILE WE STILL HAVE TIME! My prayer is that our Oklahoma Family would become one – in spirit, in purpose, in mission, and in reason for being. We must not build our own kingdom, but instead, it must be His Kingdom. Jealousy must be defeated and a cooperative spirit must prevail. When a church planter responds to His call and our Fellowship supports the plan, we must not oppose a new church but instead we must come alongside with finances, support, good-will, and encouragement. THE TIME IS NOW FOR CHURCH PLANTING!
The geographic region of Oklahoma represents a very small portion of our world and our Fellowship, the Assemblies of God, is only a fraction of the multitude to be numbered as belonging to His Kingdom. And yet – this is OUR TERRITORY; this is OUR ASSIGNMENT; we are responsible for OUR TIME; and this is OUR HOUR. I am convinced that EVERY COUNTY IN OKLAHOMA should have a Pentecostal witness in the form of a healthy Assembly of God congregation! Of course, my desire would be for every community in our state to have a healthy, thriving, effective, and growing Assembly of God church. That may be wishful thinking but please don’t wake me up – it should be MORE THAN A DREAM – IT SHOULD BE A REALITY!

MISSIONS
BAS RA, ALGIE RS ,
DA M AS C U S Not very often are we encouraged to think about other major
cities in our world that desperately need the light of Jesus Christ. And, not very often do we think of the Arab World unless we hear it in the news. The spiritual harvest, however, couldn’t be more beautiful and bountiful than in the land of the Bible. World Missions reports tell us that hundreds of Muslims are coming to Christ every day among these major cities and communities. When we launched the Oklahoma Arab World Initiative over a year ago, little did we know of the tremendous opportunity that would lie before us. God has blessed us with strategic relationships in these key Muslim cities of Basra, Algiers and Damascus, as well as the raising up of our very first Oklahoma missionary to the Arab World. Also, nearly $100,000.00 has been raised to date.
Prayers and funding are of immediate critical necessity! The Basra church planting team will deploy this summer. The Damascus team will deploy in late summer to southern Turkey to work with Syrian refugees while awaiting the soon-to-be opportunity to move into the city of Damascus. And, the Algiers team will deploy in January. So, the immediacy of the partnership need is immensely growing.

We need your partnership! Every prayer and dollar amount matters. As God enables, we have committed to three hundred prayer partners and $100,000 for each church plant in these key cities over a three year span of time. Your involvement is so necessary. I’m praying that as you read these words, the Holy Spirit would move on your heart to participate at a new level. Our office stands ready to answer any inquiries about this Oklahoma Arab World Initiative and give you ways to participate today. Also, please feel free to visit www.okag.org/awi. Join us. M I SS I O N S TR I PS Anyone who has gone on a mission trip can attest to the
fact that first-hand experience on the mission field has the potential to change your life. Within a short amount of time your perspective on the world can change forever. Your perspective on giving can change forever. The call to the work of spreading the Gospel of Jesus will develop deeper roots in your heart, and the outcome can alter everything. For a church actively looking for ways to increase its impact in the area of missions, mission trips are a great way to get that done. Many of the missionaries in the field today are there as a direct result of the call of God being clarified in their lives while on a mission trip. Many of the most consistent givers in the area of missions are so faithful because of the first-hand experience they had while on a church mission trip. It is difficult to understate the impact of mission trips in the lives of believers.
The purpose of the intended benefit test is to determine whether the contributor’s intent in making the donation was to benefit the ministry or to benefit the individual. The purpose of the discretion and control test speaks to the ministry’s obligation regarding the charitable gifts. Some ways the church can show discretion and control is to set policies in regard to the screening of participants, using considerations other than simply how much each participant raises in order to reimburse expenses, and communicating in advance, a no-refund policy. For churches actively involved in mission trips and for those considering starting, I recommend a great resource from the ECFA. The Charitable Giving Guide for Short-Term Mission Trips by Dan Busby, Michael Martin, and Joh Van Drunen. This short, practical guide will help walk you through the ins and outs of ensuring the deductibility of mission trips for your donors.
It is difficult to understate the impact of mission trips in the lives of believers. There is a great deal of effort and coordination that goes into planning and executing an effective mission trip. It requires a considerable amount of communication, coordination, logistics, and budgeting to make the trip successful. You need to think through passports, immunization shots, supplies, insurance, and a host of other items. You need to work with missionaries in the field and church members at home. While you are busy answering all of these important questions, be sure to keep in mind a question that often goes overlooked, but can be extremely important, especially to donors. Can the cost of the mission trip be considered a charitable contribution for tax-related purposes? The answer is yes, if certain conditions are met. As with any other gift, in order to be classified as a charitable contribution by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) the money must be given to or for the use of the charitable organization. The IRS has suggested two tests when determining whether a tax-deductible contribution has been made; the intended benefit test, and the discretion and control test.

CHURCH
ENCO URAGED! I can only imagine the weight that was placed upon Joshua’s
shoulders as he assumed his new leadership position over the nation of Israel. Joshua chapter one, gives us an incredible picture of God encouraging the new leader to courageously take the role that had been assigned to him. There is no doubt in my mind that Joshua probably had more than a few concerns when he was appointed as leader, so God took the time to address those concerns. As ministry leaders we are met with the challenges of leading a group of people into fulfilling God’s will. Like Joshua, we can have our concerns and doubts when we consider the enormity of the plans that God has for us. Yet, God in His grace and mercy, will provide for us the encouragement we need to take the courageous first step in following His will. God reminded Joshua of four things to give him the courage he needed. It is this fourfold encouragement, which gives us the courage to face the challenges that lie ahead. ENCOURAGEMENT FROM GOD’S COMMISSION It was important for Joshua to know that his placement in leadership was designed by the providence of God. God had chosen him to lead a new generation into a new challenge. He would lead the people into the land, defeat the enemy, and claim the inheritance. Like Joshua, you have been chosen by God and placed in your mission field for a purpose. Know that God has commissioned you! ENCOURAGEMENT FROM GOD’S PROMISES It is interesting that God promises Joshua that he would enter the land, conquer the enemy, and divide up the inheritance without explanation as to how he would accomplish these things! Joshua had to learn how to trust in the promises of God and then step out by faith. As Joshua took that step, God would guide and direct him as they moved into the promise land. As you step out in faith you can be sure that the Lord will give you the direction you need when you need it. Trust his promises! ENCOURAGEMENT FROM GOD’S WORD Joshua’s strength and courage would come from daily meditating on the word of God, believe in the promises, and obeying its commandments. This was the direction that Moses had given to all

the people in Deuteronomy, and now God was applying it specifically to Joshua‘s leadership and life. We must ask ourselves: Did we obey the written will of God? Were we empowered by the Spirit of God? Did we seek to serve for the glory of God? God’s word gives us the direction we need to fulfill God‘s plan for our lives. Trust his word! ENCOURAGEMENT FROM GOD‘S COMMANDMENTS The Commandments of God are God’s enablement for those who trust and obey. When God gives a command, He will provide power and resources to bring it to completion. In other words, when we trust and obey the commandments of the Lord, He has the power of fulfillment! Trust His commandments! Like Joshua each one of us has a divine mandate to serve the Lord with all of our heart and do his will. That mandate is sufficient enough to sustain us through the most difficult challenges we face in ministry as we put our faith and trust in him. As we seek His direction, we will find fulfillment in life and ministry. Blessings! Chad and Nyree

WHEN G OD SHOW S YOU W H AT YOU W E RE N ’T
LOO KING F OR Well...here we are!
We’re HONORED to be serving the Oklahoma District as Youth Directors. We have officially moved to Oklahoma City and we’re getting all settled in here at the District office. The funny thing about all of this, is Alisha and I were not looking for transition. We loved being on staff in Lawton and we loved the community. However, sometimes things can be going just fine and then God says, “ I think we need to shake things up.” Back in January, we began to feel a stir of something changing… and it has become very apparent to us what God was trying to prepare us for. The big question I’ve been asking God these last few weeks is, “Can I do this?” and the answer I keep getting is “No, but I can, so just trust me”. We hit the ground running in the middle of our five weeks of Youth Camp, and then hosted our Synergy One Day with Heath Adamson at the Bridge Bricktown. Adamson is the former National Youth Director and is now on staff with Convoy of Hope and is currently working on a doctorate at the University of London. The event was an absolute success! We had 60+ leaders in attendance and Heath Adamson did a phenomenal job speaking on the subjects of Generation Z and Biblical Literacy. We would like to send a huge thanks to Pastor Rodney and Kate Wardwell at The Bridge Bricktown for their hospitality and love to OYM. There have been many highs and lows these last few weeks, but God’s faithfulness has never changed. I’ve continued to dream and pray about the new vision for OYM and while I may not be sure of exactly where we are going, I do know the Holy Spirit is leading the way. There have been a lot of negative things said about this generation of students, but I still have hope, because no matter how dark things may seem, I know the love and the light of Jesus will always shine through. To the youth pastors and leaders of OYM, We are better together!

God did some amazing things in our services this year. Our evangelistic teams did an incredible job. A great big thanks to Preston Reedy and team for Camps 1 and 2, and thank you to Mike and Anita James for being at camps 3 and 4. I think the revision of our schedule was a huge success this year. Instead of having nightly services, we moved them to the hottest part of the day in the afternoon. I think by this small change, it gave our coaches and staff more time for discussing and discipling during our evening activities. Our Kids Camp Interns and Summer Staff completely knocked it out of the park this year as well. We had a team of incredible young men and women from across the state spend the entire month of July preparing and ministering to the kids of Oklahoma. Joy and I could not have done camp without them. Pastors, thanks so much for supporting our Kids Camp ministry. Thanks for sending kids, coaches and support help from all of your churches. We are already looking forward to next year’s Kids Camp season. Plans are already underway!

IS IT TOO LAT E FOR
THE HARVEST?
“The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.” Jeremiah 8:20
Oklahoma is experiencing record breaking temperatures this summer. We have all been guilty of longing for the cooler days of fall and winter to come…and the quicker the better. Yet, we often forget that the heat of summer is part of our life and a part of the Kingdom of God. Summer is still a time of work. It is when plants begin forming fruit and this tells us that harvest is just around the corner. We must work while there is still time, or we will experience failure like Jeremiah wrote about. In this verse of scripture, we can see three key concepts: 1. Harvest has passed – opportunity gone for repentance, redemption, and reconciliation.
2. Summer is ended – ministry begins with plans, prospects, promises, and potential.
3. We are not all saved – a confession, a truth, and a tragic end. The Spanish speaking churches emphasize missions in the month of September. They will be hosting two mission conventions. We must help send missionaries to countries around the world. September is when we can make a difference that will change where many people will spend eternal life. Pastor, you and your church can make a difference. Please pray about presenting a missionary to your church. Inviting a missionary to come, speak, and share what is going on in another part of the world is a giant step that I recommend. This year’s conventions are Saturday, September 22 in Tulsa and Saturday, September 29 in Muskogee. If you and your members can attend one or both of our conventions, that would be great. For more information on either convention, contact me. MARK FITZGERALD SPANISH MINISTR IE S MAR K F ITZG E R AL D@USMISSIO NS. O R G
ROYAL RANGERS 2018 has been a very exciting year for Oklahoma Royal Rangers! God has opened doors of opportunity in many areas of ministry and the Kingdom is advancing! The Royal Rangers National Director, Karl Flieg, challenged the leaders who gathered from across the country at the National Lead Conference to not get weary in the labor of raising up a generation of servant leaders. We were challenged at the District Pow Wow by Jared Shoultz, Oklahoma Missionary to Mozambique, to pursue and remain in the presence of God! Many boys and men responded to the invitation to follow Christ for the first time! And many reported they feel a call to be involved in full time ministry! Another very successful Junior Leadership Training Academy allowed time for boys and men to sharpen skills that will be called upon in their personal, family, church and workplace. We received the Word from Kasey Grubbs, Ronn Cunningham and Joe Cloniger as they compelled us to turn loose of things that would keep us from God’s best. Revelation 17:14 reveals who will be coming with Jesus when He returns to earth. “They will wage war against the Lamb (Christ), and the Lamb will triumph and conquer them, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those who are with Him and on His side are the called and chosen (elect) and faithful.” We believe God is raising up an army who are unashamed and unafraid to live the message of the gospel.
Matthew 11:12 tells us for the Kingdom to advance it will require action from warriors. We are convinced the culture we live in today will not quietly go away. And, for boys to see what a Godly man looks like, Men are going to have to rise and prepare for battle. The Royal Ranger ministry is not a complacent and carefree club. It is one that will require prayer and commitment to accomplish getting the seed into the soil and yes, the watering and weeding that follows is sometimes tedious and time consuming. But the harvest is more than worth all the effort! Truly the harvest is plentiful! Pray for the Lord to send workers!! We have many pastors and leaders who are requesting information about what Royal Rangers looks like today. Please contact us through the OCM webpage or go to okroyalrangers. com.
