Every day that passes witnesses a new development with the
construction of The Solid Rock, an F5-rated gymnasium and storm shelter for our district camp facility. Together, we are believing God for continued miraculous support from campers, friends, parents, ministers, and churches. Personally, I am asking God that we complete this phase of construction and cover the building expenses by June 1, 2020. THAT WOULD BE A MIRACLE! I would remind each reader that we are in the midst of TWO CAMPAIGNS. Each is a separate adventure and the funds are not to be over-lapping. 1. OKLAHOMA STORM CHASERS 2. WE LOVE CAMPERS Many people have already joined this effort by linking arms and through participation in BOTH of these fund-raising campaigns. OKLAHOMA STORM CHASERS – focuses on individual giving. (Yes, your home church may receive AG missions credit for your personal contributions.) EVERY PERSON who contributes $1,000 will have their name inscribed on a donors plaque that will be permanently displayed inside of the new structure. I HAVE A GOAL OF 1,000 INDIVIDUALS CONTRIBUTING $1,000 AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BUT PRIOR TO MARCH 31, 2020. We have already witnessed over 200 OKLAHOMA STORM CHASERS whose names have already been added to the list! Many others have given over $500 and with only a little more effort, they will join the team of 1,000 OKLAHOMA STORM CHASERS. The following individuals are currently named as an OKLAHOMA STORM CHASER: Robert Adams Chad Allred Ben Anderson Beth Anderson Chris Anderson Sherri Anderson David A. Personal growth never comes accidentally. It’s in the
information, association, and application that brings new levels and greater effectiveness. The Century Leadership Experience is all about those three aspects. The roundtables provide opportunity for collaborative learning in a relational environment that encourages personal and organizational action. Our key leadership guests speak from current perspectives on leading that enable potential breakthrough thinking. These speakers come from both church and organizational leadership backgrounds. With two teaching sessions, a question and answer time, as well as lunch together, the roundtables offer up close opportunity to interface with these guests as well as engage with other attendees for a more intimate optimized experience.

Spiritual leadership is the most important role when it comes to leading people closer to God’s agenda for their lives. Therefore, investments in that leadership strength are never a wasted resource. And, when we learn together, synergy is created and more gets accomplished in God’s Kingdom and for His glory. Consider registering you and your team as a high-level way of investing in that critical role. Looking forward to seeing you at any or all of our roundtables and let’s grow, create, and invest together!
FINANCE
CHURCHES FINANC IAL AN ALYS IS FOR
One of my favorite quotes relative to financial management
is by Peter Drucker. He says, “Non-profits need management more than business does, precisely because they lack the discipline of the bottom line.” I love that phrase, discipline of the bottom line. It paints a perfect picture of what successful businesses have as a precise measure of success; profit. It is objective, and it is clear. It is THE bottom line. All decisions are based on their effect on this measure. Will a decision help grow the bottom line? Will a decision lead to more profits or fewer profits? Increasing profits is the essence of business. It is not, however, the essence of churchbusiness. A church is not in the business of profits. That said, financial gain is critical to being able to build the ministry you are called to build. Without sound financial management, a church cannot operate effectively and cannot achieve its mission in its given community. Poor financial management can have a far-reaching effect. It can cause a leader to lose credibility. It can hurt donations. It can also create a great deal of otherwise avoidable conflict amongst church members. There are a few basics when it comes to financial management. These basics are relatively simple. Here is a very short, nonexhaustive, list of some of these basics: • Make sure income is higher than the expenses. • Make sure all expenses are church-related. • Reconcile your bank statements monthly. • Do not use designated funds (e.g., Building Funds) for nondesignated purposes (e.g., Payroll). Beyond the basics of sound financial management, church leaders should also have some basic financial analysis tools. One of my favorite tools when it comes to financial analysis is called a common-sized income statement. A common-sized income statement is a great tool which enables you to compare multiple years’ worth of income statements quickly. The way it works is relatively simple. Rather than looking at actual dollar amounts, convert your income statement, so that is shows everything as a percentage of total income. This is a much more objective way to analyze financial performance without getting overwhelmed by the numbers, which may be higher or lower than prior years. By looking at things as a percentage of total income, you can more easily and objectively spot trends and better determine if expenses are out of scope with increased or decreased income. Below is a simple example of how to create a common-sized income statement for a single year period. For a more effective analysis tool, you should place multiple years side by side in this same format. You might be amazed by what you find out about the financial performance of your church or ministry based on percentages, rather than actual dollars.
Example of a Common-Sized Income Statement – This is for educational purposes only
I like this financial analysis tool for the following reasons: 1. It is relatively simple to compile. 2. It provides objective data on how money is being spent. 3. When multiple years are placed side-by-side in this format, it helps you spot trends and find areas where you may be overspending and areas where you may be underspending. 4. It takes away the emotion of looking at actual numbers which may or may not be where you want them to be.

HEALTHY M I N I ST R I E S The Church Ministries Department exists to serve in the
process of developing Healthy Ministers and Healthy Ministries. It is our desire to partner together with the local church to provide the spiritual and organizational support needed to fulfill the Great Commission! We are stronger together! Much of what we do to provide support, resource and develop health in the local body is provided at or below cost (many times it is free of charge). We do this so that our smaller churches are able to participate and be the recipient of the resources that we provide. But we could not do so without the faithful and generous support of many of our churches and pastors across the state! Thank you to each one who supports the Church Ministries Department on a monthly basis! RURAL COMPASSION We are hosting a Rural Compassion event on August 23-24, 2019 at Stroud First Assembly of God. This event is for the pastor and spouse to receive training, inspiration, and resources that they can take back to their rural communities and make an impact. Every event that we have hosted has produced incredible testimonies of new opportunities that the church has been given in reaching the lost. You can find more information about Rural Compassion at www.ruralcompassion.org. Be sure to watch the video on the homepage! This year’s training has reached full capacity, but we will offer more trainings in the future! Sponsorships are available to make it possible to provide this training and resources free of charge to our rural pastors. If you would like to help sponsor the event, please email me at chad.brodrick@okag.org for more information. MAIN EVENT MEN’S CONFERENCE September 26-28, 2019 is our annual Main Event Men’s Conference at Sparks Assemblies of God Campground. We have expanded the dates to include an extra day and night at no additional charge!

Seats are still available for Daughters Conference, however, please don’t wait. Indicators show we will sell out and have to turn people away. Register at OKAG.org/Daughters Unlocking Spiritual Gifts! “A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.” (1Cor. 12:7 NLT) Isn’t that beautiful? But many people in our churches today would argue that they don’t have ANY gifts and are sadly ignorant to the Spiritual Gifts given by the Holy Spirit to EVERY Person (see 1 Cor. 12:7 above) Many Churches aren’t teaching on this subject matter regularly or at all and are subsequently suffering from a lack of workers, a lack of growth and a lack of zeal! What are the Spiritual Gifts? • Is it just tongues, tongues and more tongues? • Is it coffee and donuts in the church foyer…just WHAT are the Spiritual Gifts anyway? We know from scripture, there are nine beautiful gifts listed in 1 Corinthians 12, but beyond that, there are also 5-fold Ministry Gifts listed in Ephesians 4:11 – The Apostle, the Prophet, the Evangelist, the Pastor and the Teacher. • • • • •
Who are the modern-day Apostles? What does this term mean? Was that ministry office just for Bible times or are people walking in that mantle today? What about the Prophet? Are these just old men with long beards? Where did they go among our Fellowship? Can God use WOMEN in all of these Offices of the Church?

ALL KNOW We did it! OYM just finished the 2019 Speed the Light Tour and
let me say, it was amazing! We had such a great response from every section in our district; from students making large individual pledges, to youth groups coming up with creative ideas on how they can meet those goals together. This year’s theme once again is “Until All Know” and it’s a very appropriate theme. Those three words embody the message of Speed the Light. At each rally, I had the opportunity to preach a message entitled “Others”. If we’re going to live out this theme of “Until All Know”, we have to be others-focused. What I love most about Speed the Light is it teaches students how to give sacrificially and live life selflessly.
If we’re going to live out this theme of “Until All Know”, we have to be othersfocused. At Youth Convention in October 2018 we profiled Michelle Castle, Oklahoma’s first missionary to the Arab world. The students of OYM banded together, committing to raise the funds needed to purchase Michelle a Speed the Light vehicle, so that when she finally makes it to Jordan she will not need to worry about transportation. I am proud to say we met that goal and Michelle will be able to get her car! Why? Because, students chose to give sacrificially and live life selflessly. We are living out the “We over Me” motto. Youth Pastor, thank you for getting your students to one of our rallies this year, and for making generosity through Speed the Light a priority in your already busy schedules! We are excited for the future of Speed the Light in Oklahoma! Be blessed Oklahoma! Heath and Alisha Corrales

CHILDREN
KID S CAMP 20 1 9
WRAP UP
Jurassic Kids Camp came to a close at the end of July, and it was a dinosaur sized success! I will have to go on record and say that in the 10 years that Joy and I have been directing Kids Camps, this one was the most fun. From the first day to the last, we had an absolute ball!
We started our camp adventure in the first of May when we found out that our scheduled Camp Evangelist for Camp 1,2, and Little Radicals would not be able to be with us. Usually, if you start looking mid-May for a speaker in July, it is slim pickings. However, we rallied the troops and decided to do the services ourselves using Joy and I and the rest of our Intern team. We had a total blast! From the lessons, puppets and skits, it all came together wonderfully. Chip and Debbie Dudden, from the Southern Missouri District, came and concluded our camp season. This was their first time ministering outside of their home district and they did an incredible job. God showed up in a very powerful way this year. It was an awesome sight to have the worship center filled with young kids singing and praising their hearts out and calling upon the Holy Spirit. There were times when our worship team would just step back and the let praises of the kids fill the place. It was really awesome.
A HUGE thanks goes out to all of those who were responsible for making Kids Camp 2019 a very memorable one. From our OCM interns, our weekly executive staff, weekly staff, coaches and campers--thank you so much for being a part of Kids Camp 2019! Let’s all come back next year as we Go For the Gold at the Kids Camp Summer Games 2020! See you next year! ST RON G E N OU GH
TO LAST We host a workshop each year in October, to help leaders and teachers of our churches. This year we are excited to emphasize our kids and the need of training to the church kids to know and understand they, too, must have depth in their spiritual relationship with Jesus Christ.
Our desire for this upcoming workshop is to help answer the questions that Boyd brings to the table. We have many kids attending our churches, but we are in desperate need to keep the kids after they reach their teen-age years. We must look at the kids as the church not of tomorrow but see them as the church of today.
David J. Boyd wrote a book STRONG ENOUGH TO LAST and this book will be our study for the workshop that will be held October 19 in Norman and October 26 in Tulsa.
I encourage you to begin to look at your kids as spiritual beings that can be an effective part of your church. Pastor, please make plans to attend one of our workshops.
Boyd explains, “The Barna group recently released shocking statistics: Less than half of born-again teenagers (44 percent) say they are absolutely committed to the Christian faith. Only one in every three teens (33 percent) say they are likely to continue to participate in church life once they are living on their own. These alarming numbers bring all kinds of questions to mind: • What can the church do to develop spiritually strong kids? • How can Kids Ministry Leaders work with parents to keep kids in church? • What tools will help us provide adequate spiritual training?

I recently held a Girls Ministries Leadership Training in Clinton, OK at The Crossing Church. This church wants to minister to the “least of these” and are beginning gender specific ministry to their girls and boys as schools starts! The 2019 District Celebration was held on Saturday, August 10. We awarded 67 Honor Stars, 27 Friends Graduates and 9 Girls Only Graduates! There were 41 Bronze Medals, 21 Silver Medals and 7 Gold Medals of Honor. We are very proud of these girls and their accomplishments. SHINE BRIGHT September 2019 – December 2020 The 2019-20 annual theme for National Girls Ministries is Shine Bright based on John 8:12 (NIV) “Those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.” This year’s theme encourages and inspires girls to be the light of Jesus in this dark world. Girls will learn to shine bright in different areas of their lives. When girls understand they were made by God, in His image, and have purpose in their lives, they don’t have to be afraid to shine bright for all the world! 12 | OKLAHOMA OUTLOOK

Betty L. Ayers
9/4/1945 - 7/30/2019 Reverend Betty L. Ayers was born on September 4, 1945 to JewelDean and Elijah Ayers in Tulsa, OK. Betty took her last breath on this earth on July 30, 2019 after many health battles. Betty was a graduate of SAGC in Waxahachie, TX graduating in 1967 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Children’s Education. In 1971, she began serving in children’s and youth ministry and began ministry as an appointed US Missions Missionary to Native Americans in Arizona. She served at Teen Challenge, Guadalupe, Somerton, AZ; Winterhaven, CA; Laveen Co-op, Payson, AZ ministering to the Yavapai-Apache Tribe; Maricopa, Casa Grande All Tribes Assembly, Stanfield Evangelistic Ministry, pastored in Cache, OK at the Indian Assembly and returned to Stanfield, AZ where she remained until her death. Betty was a well-known and trusted individual, serving as Phoenix Indian Section Secretary-Treasurer, Arizona Indian Camp Banker and very involved with the Stanfield Community Center. She was trusted among children and youth, as an advocate for those who didn’t have a voice. Her use of sign language, playing the bells and a slide guitar, relating scripture in a simple and easy-to-understand manner, made her an excellent preacher of God’s Word. Betty was well loved. She was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley; Survived by her twin brothers, Ken and Jimmy, sister, Judy, numerous nieces and nephews, family and four Native daughters.
