/ CHURCH Michelle and I have been afforded a blessed opportunity and awesome challenge in this new role of Church Ministries director for the Oklahoma District. Many have asked, “So, what is this new ministry area about...and, what do you guys do over there?” Because this division is new not only to us but to the district, it’s been advantageous for a crafting of why we exist. Three words come to mind when considering this multi-faceted area: SERVE, PARTNER, NETWORK.
MISSION
OUR
SERVE
We exist to serve first and foremost! We are here to offer and provide resources. Some of the resources for the adult ministries of the local church will be what we come across that seem healthy and progressive while others we have already begun to write and develop. They will come in printed materials and training events. Other events provided will be such as the following: men’s and women’s retreats and conferences that candidly address current gender issues, singles and seniors gatherings that are relevant to their needs, marriage encounters to strengthen the home, missions trips for ministers and the local church, leadership and discipleship seminars to encourage more effective ministry.
PARTNER We are fully aware that there are many local churches and ministries that have effective materials and events already in place. Our role is to come alongside and help promote these experiences. The purpose for the Church Ministries Network is not to see how many people we can get sold on our resources. Rather, we are here to be a promoter and lid-lifter for and to the local church and the ministries around our great state. We desire to live by the mantra How can we help you?
NETWORK Collaboration is a primary part of what we do at the Church Ministries level. The knowledge and creative ideas for ministry and furthering God’s Kingdom is wide and vast across our fellowship. Our efforts individually become more effective when we take time to hear and learn from one another. In other words, you can help my ministry and I can help yours. Therefore, we value your opinions, your ideas, your feedback.
Looking forward to serving, partnering and networking with you, your ministry and local church. Please feel free to contact us here at our Church Ministries office at (405) 475-1190.

Brother Meador has the burden and giftings to lead church planting in the Oklahoma District. I am extremely happy that Brother Cargill has left the planting of ethnic churches and cowboy churches under my portfolio. The enthusiasm I feel toward planting Cowboy churches in our district energizes me to lead a movement in rural Oklahoma that will produce growing churches in a demographically deprived part of our state. “Developing Generations To Lead” Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority. --Matthew 10:1
“As soon as the vision is announced, the leader must begin succession planning and selection, just as Jesus did.”
MY PRAYER AS A LEADER Help me remember, God, that I can be reassigned, neutralized, or eliminated for a thousand different reasons at any moment. Show me those who can lead after me and better than me. Ruffle my spirit when they are near, quicken my heart when I feel their power, and open my eyes to see the special effect they have on people. Protect me from preserving my own position or power or perspective at the expense of future leaders. When they point out where I have not led well, shut my mouth and open my heart. Help me make it safe for them to try new things. I will not have the privilege of choosing who will lead after me. Others will decide that. But I can help prepare leaders, and I can help the organization be ready for them. Show me the ones who challenge me, the ones with more freedom and stronger faith than I have. Point out the ones who love people better than I do, who lead because they really care about people. Make the spiritual giants visible to me. Help me distinguish between the confident and the arrogant, between the humble and the hesitant. Bring out the strong ones who can carry their own burdens and also the burdens of others Oh, God of mercy, don’t let me stay in this job one day too long. And don’t let this all fall apart after I leave. I will not last forever, God. Where are my replacements?

/ CHILDREN to mention, how many versions of the Bible I have seen. There are a lot of Bibles in the world, however, of all of the ones I have seen, the ones that I like are not new. They are very seldom pretty. Their covers are often cracked and weathered. The pages are often marked up with pencil markings and notes in the margin. You can sometimes see the traces of tears streaming down the pages where somebody was searching for encouragement and For those who know me or have seen my office, you know I have a fondness for superheroes. My walls are covered with them. I have countless t-shirts, DVDs, and other items that I have bought or others have given to me. Knowing that, you’ll see why I had a particular interest in this story that I read a few days ago: “A rare copy of the first comic book featuring Superman has sold for $1,000,000 smashing the previous record price for a comic. A 1938 edition of Action Comics No. 1, widely considered the Holy Grail of comic books, was sold by a private seller to a private buyer, neither of whom released their names. The issue features Superman lifting a car on its cover. It originally cost 10 cents. The copy fetched a much higher price because it is in better condition. It is rated an 8.0 grade, or very fine, on a scale that goes up to 10. There are only about 100 copies of Action Comics No. 1
found it. What makes the Bible priceless is not the condition of the cover. It’s not how clean and pretty the pages are. It doesn’t even matter how old or what version it’s written in. It’s the words and the Spirit behind those words that make it priceless. “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.” (John 6:63) The word of God puts faith in our heart and takes us beyond the space/time dimension. Faith in the word of God lifts us up and moves us into a higher dimension - the divine dimension where miracles happen. 1 Corinthians 2:9 “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him.” In a monetary sense, the price of a Bible can range from $1 to $100, but the value of God’s Word and the spirit behind it, far exceeds the price of a 72 year-old mint condition Superman comic.
believed to be in existence, and only a handful have been rated so highly.” – Associated Press
FYI: The day I completed this article, I was online reading the headlines and found out that a 1939 comic book in which Batman makes his debut sold at auction for $1,075,500 -- breaking a record set just three days earlier by the Superman comic.
DEAN GUTHRIE The rating that this particular comic book had received

was 8.0, meaning that for the past 72 years it has hardly been touched, hardly been read, or has never even left the confines of a plastic sleeve. Yet as the years went by, it began to acquire value day by day. I’m sure when they were evaluating the comic book, they looked with precision - at every single page. They made sure there were no tears or imperfections. They probably checked the front and back cover for smudges and markings. After a close and careful inspection, they redeemed its worth - which was a price tag of one-million dollars. Now as a minister, I’ve seen a lot of Bibles. I’ve seen big ones, small ones, thick ones, skinny ones. I’ve seen girl’s Bibles that were pink, and I’ve seen boy’s Bibles that were camouflage. Not

At 3:08 pm on March 1 - A new era in our lives began! Connor Jackson Tracy was born and Susan & I became grandparents. We knew the time was approaching, our daughter & son-in law (Ericka & Jack) had announced the news last summer, this fall ultra sound pictures had confirmed that a grandson was on the way and on that Monday morning the news came to get ready and head to the hospital a miracle was about to happen. While in the waiting room, I prayed, read, & talked with family & friends & reflected about the past 22 years. When God called us to become XA campus missionaries, Ericka, at the age of 4 was the first to respond that God was calling our family to be missionaries to the campus. She & Jack met through XA at a Thanksgiving Feast for international students and now a grandson was going to be born. By 3:10pm the waiting room was rejoicing, Connor was born and a room full of relatives, pastors & friends were all rejoicing together.
I can’t help but think that’s what God means when he says there is more rejoicing in heaven for one who repents, its as if all the angels and we with them are in a great waiting room rejoicing as lives are birthed into the kingdom of God. We have the opportunity to become spiritual aunts, uncles, cousins, friends & even grandparents as we pray and believe for what God is doing in the lives of those we are praying for. We pray the rejoicing in heaven is being amplified because we’re getting reports that God is transforming lives on campuses across Oklahoma this year. The family is growing and we praise God for all the XA prayer & support partners that stand with us to see God’s miracles performed in the lives of students!
