/ CHURCH It is with great excitement and anticipation that Michelle and I join the Oklahoma District team. We are honored to have been asked by Pastor Cargill to direct the division of Church Ministries for the churches of our great state.

and effectiveness. Bill Hybels, in his book Courageous Leadership, said, “It’s the church or it’s lights out…There is nothing like the local church when it’s working right.” We couldn’t agree more. Our family has had the privilege and blessing of being a part of a local body of believers all of our lives. We are who we are by the grace of God working through those churches. And, growing up in the homes of pastors and ministers has given us the special

/ CHILDREN That night as the park was about to close, my dad decided that Brian needed to experience at least one of the rides. Dad wasn’t easy on him at all. He should have started out on a carousel or something, but he didn’t. They headed straight to the parachute drop. I think I saw Brian turn three shades of green just standing in line. As the safety belt was being checked, Brian was just on the verge of a major meltdown. My dad very calmly put his arm around him and said, “Son, calm down. I’m right here. I’m not going to let anything happen to you.” With that being said, the ride started and the seat that my dad and Brian were sitting in shot straight up in the air. Mom and I stayed on the ground and watched as their seat became a little black dot a few hundred feet in the air. As the parachute started drifting down, I wondered how Brian was going to react, or if he had passed out on the way up. As they touched down, I got a first look at my bench riding friend, and he had the biggest grin on his face. “That was totally awesome! Can we do it again?” My immediate thought was, “The park is closing genius, where

were you this morning?” We headed for the gate as they made the last call to clear the park. Brian was still buzzing about his one ride adventure at Six Flags.

It was the end of my 6th grade year. My family was planning a trip to Six Flags Over Texas. I was an only child, and for the first time ever, my mom

forsake you.”

I thought long and hard about who I was going to choose to go with us. I decided to take my friend, Brian. He had no brothers and sisters either. It was just him and his mom. I thought it would be cool to let him come with us, because he didn’t get to go places like this very often. The day had come, and we were so excited. All the way to Arlington, we were planning and plotting our whole day at Six Flags. Brian had never been there, so I was filling him in on what the best rides were. I was telling him about the roller coasters, the scramblers, and the parachute drop. Once inside the gate, my parents had said the greatest thing any parent

During lunch, they began to tell us of all of the rides and attractions they had been on - all of the really fast thrill seeker rides. I explained to them the scariest thing we rode on that day was a park bench. After lunch, I decided to stick with my parents. They backtracked through the park and rode all the rides again, this time with me. Brian would always find the nearest bench and sit there until we were finished.

“Our bodies change, our environment changes, government changes, people change and the church changes. We change to satisfy a need or we change out of desire.” Life is about change. Our bodies change, our environment changes, government changes, people change and the church changes. We change to satisfy a need or we change out of desire. For the record, I am excited about the changes we see being implemented in the district leadership. The restructuring should catapult us forward in the years ahead. Please know that I fully support our superintendent and the changes he is making. In this year of transition I will still be involved to some degree with Men’s Ministries. Darren Pilcher will be an excellent leader. I look forward to working with him and lending my support to his vision. At our November Council I quickly listed major changes I have witnessed in missions over

LINDELL WARREN UPDATES ON PERSONNEL Because of an editing error Stephen Kuert was omitted from last month’s list of missionaries returning stateside this year. Stephen will be back in Oklahoma in mid summer – July or August. Another word of explanation please? Because our Outlook is now on-line greater care has to be given to listing the names of our missionaries. So, if you wonder why some names do not appear in print it could be because they labor in a sensitive country. The Missions office would be happy to answer any questions regarding personnel.
