PARADISE a destination commonly known as Canada’s playground

Geographically, the Thompson Okanagan stretches from Valemount & Mt. Robson in the north, all the way down to Osoyoos (and the US border) in the south, and from Christina Lake in the east to Cache Creek in the west. This tract of land is teeming with lakes, rivers and beaches a plenty! In an area this vast, there is a tremendous opportunity to discover nature, history, culture and a whole lot more. Often the trip is just as exciting as the destination. Well, the Thompson Okanagan is no different. We are surrounded by some of the most spectacular highway scenery. Roads that lead you in and out of the region, also branch off in every direction, each one taking you to a spot more

Impressive than the last. On some routes you can look in either direction and see forever. On others, you are fully encompassed by deep canyon walls, or twisting and turning alongside a deep raging river, as the background rises up into the snow covered peaks. Like most of this glorious region, these scenarios are breathtaking. We are so privileged to be able to enjoy this beautiful cross section of geography that runs from the mountainous and rugged in the north to desert in the south, and lots of everything else in between. In the northern region of the Thompson Okanagan, it is an outdoor adventures delight. Hiking, biking, heli-skiing and white water rafting are regular items on

the menu. It is exciting climbing aboard a helicopter in Valemount, flying into Mt Robson Provincial Park (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and heading to Berg Lake - the wildest of memories will be created from the sightseeing and hiking. This is a truly unique experience. Icebergs float in the uniquely turquoise blue water and not just in the winter, during the summer months the lake keeps cold as the north face of Mt Robson’s glaciers slide gently and effortlessly into the frigid waters. The Thompson Okanagan is also partially famous for another phenomena. It is not impossible to ski/snowboard and also swim in a lake on the same day. The entire region celebrates and is famous

for cold, dry snow. Spring riding here is an experience like no other. The sun shining on your face, great snow under foot, what an amazing experience! This is just another rare occurrence on your trek through an incredible territory that never stops impressing you. In the southern region of the Thompson Okanagan, you will find yourself hearing people describe this area of beaches, warm waters and vineyards ‘A Jewel in Paradise’. There is a chain of major lakes that stretch from above & beyond Vernon, right down into the United States, south of Osoyoos. Many of these shorelines offer pristine sandy beaches, with little inlets and bays that are perfect for exploration by a canoe,

kayak, or stand up paddleboard. Lake life is a large part of the daily routine in the Thompson Okanagan. With so many public access points, beaches and hidden spots, it’s easy to either wade into the beautiful water for a swim, or for more excitement, go boating, rent a Sea-Doo or sit beachside and enjoy watching kite boarders slice their way back & forth across the wet, blue playground. There are many different options when it comes to playing in or around on the water. Wandering through areas is the very best way to make the coolest discoveries. As you meander through the Thompson Okanagan, you will notice that here are miles and miles of orchards, vineyards and farmers fields. The freshest fruits & vegetables can be found at one of many roadside produce stands. If you appreciate fine foods, then the local culinary arts will surely please your taste buds, as the term ‘farm to table’ is very popular in this part of the world. If you prefer to whip up a tasty meal for you and your family & friends, or would rather have the delight

of being spoiled by one of the many local world-class chefs, you are sure to find one common consistency: that all of you are using fresh, local ingredients to fine tune your gourmet delights! Golf is another delight that you will find in the region. Golf courses line the hillsides, valley floors and riverbanks throughout the entire Thompson Okanagan region. And these courses are not just a quick nine holes in a field anymore. Most of the golf courses in the region have championship greens, amazing training facilities with professional staff, and clubhouses or restaurants that are often favoured by the rich and famous. It is not uncommon, as you will soon discover yourself, why the awarded “Golf Course of the Year” is frequently in the Thompson Okanagan. There are certain things that separate one region from another. Here in the golfing community, more than likely you will get to play a round through a working orchard. It sounds so simple but, it is such an unusual feeling, swinging your eight iron through a row of apple

trees, forcing the ball up, over and back onto the fairway. Where else can you enjoy such a rare moment? If that doesn’t bring a smile to your face, how about playing a round on the course, where the fairways are flanked by rows of grapes from a neighbouring vineyard, while deer bounce across the green not too far from where you took your last shot. Welcome to golf in the Thompson Okanagan. Vineyards and wineries tend to be clustered in the southern part of the region, but more and more wineries are popping up north of the 50th parallel, pushing further and further north. They have discovered that some grapes thrive in slightly cooler climates with different soil composition. These businesses have tapped into what is now called the “agritourism” market and have expanded their scope to beyond just grapes and wine making. There are several wineries that boast guesthouses, restaurants and gift shops that rival most international airports! More than just a few wineries, vineyards, and most recently distilleries,

have been recognized and awarded on the global stage. The long hot days and cool, dry nights are absolutely perfect for growing grapes & fruit. That stellar weather, combined with the magic of the Okanagan soil have made for some very tasty glasses of vino! There is a great selection of tour companies in the Thompson Okanagan, willing to shuttle you from vineyard to vineyard to vineyard, so that you may enjoy it all in responsibly, or as an alternative tour choice, take to the air to view the wineries by helicopter. Becoming more and more popular, are concert presentations at local wineries. Set under a summer’s night sky, up above & overlooking the lake in an amphi-theatre or terrace, a favourite band or singer-songwriter strikes up and delivers an once-in-a-lifetime show. Imagine the stories you will have for your family and friends… Helicopter tour & an unbelievable concert in the vineyard, all in the same day. Cultural heritage is a large part of local history and lore. Every city and town

in the Thompson Okanagan is steep in agricultural roots, First Nations, Gold Rush and Old West history. All of these pieces make up the vibrant past that makes these areas so special. The region is proudly home to one of Western Canada’s largest celebrations of Aboriginal culture, the Kamloopa Pow Wow. For the naturalists, there is the annual Meadowlark Festival and Adams River Sockeye Salmon Run to view and enjoy. There is also a huge market for arts, culture, and music festivals & events in the Thompson Okanagan. The Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival, Westside Daze, Centre of Gravity, and of course, the annual Penticton Elvis Festival, are just a few of the many events that are enjoyed in the Thompson Okanagan. These festivals bring in major entertainers and acts, so keep your eyes open, because you never know whom you might see! Seasonally, the Thompson Okanagan has the Spring, Fall & Winter Wine Festivals, with events held across the region at hotels, resorts, restaurants, ski hills, and of course, at the wineries & vineyards. Don’t forget your cowboy hat & spurs when you come, as other popular events in the region include the annual Interior Provincial Exhibition (IPE) in Armstrong, the Falkland Stampede, and the North Thompson Fall Fair & Rodeo in Barriere, along with the many other community rodeos & fall fairs, showcase the days of farming, ranching and cowboys.

And if all that isn’t enough… what about two things that go together better than peanut butter and jam: fishing and camping! This has to be one of the most victorious combinations known to mankind. There are many RV resorts in the region, offering amenities from water access for your boat, to hot showers & pools to relax by at the end of the day. For the more intrepid outdoorsman, there are hundreds of lakes and streams within reach by vehicle, or you can go as remote and backcountry as you can imagine. If you like the more social scene associated with fishing and camping, there are many provincial & private campgrounds that will accommodate your style of fun. And, for the individual that is looking to reconnect with nature, there are camping options that take you deeper into the wilderness to designated spots, or areas appreciated for their peaceful qualities. Whether you are in pursuit of outdoor adventure, history, culture, relaxing or just touring around, everyone can appreciate something in the Thompson Okanagan. It is the things that are right here that make this place so special and unique. From the northern boundaries to the US border, these peaks and valleys are vast, expansive and beckon to be explored, experienced & enjoyed. Welcome to the Thompson Okanagan, we look forward to having you!

Oliver

Cultivate a moment

A vintage for every taste. Hours of sunshine. Trails that stretch to the horizon or lead to the top of a mountain. The perfect recipe to cultivate a moment in the Wine Capital of Canada. Mix with any season, and add a twist or two - and enjoy. What twists you ask? Winter in wine country invites you to think pink at a rosĂŠ revolution. The snow may be falling outside, but inside we're toasty, and toasting a worldwide "drink pink" mantra. Why not? The lengthy harvest season is coming to a close, and it's time to celebrate. Speaking of pink, as the days grow longer and the sun glows brighter, spring brings a vista of blossoms reaching skyward, inspiring artists to capture the season, or drawing you out to walk amongst the buds, with birdsong as your soundtrack. Bring binoculars, you never know who you might see in the trees...our resident owl population, perhaps? Festival of the Grape, Darren Robinson

42 | TRAVEL EXPERIENCES 2015

Summer turns golden, and it's Oliver's season to shine...or glisten. Marathon season begins, golfers are dotting the greens, bikes whirl down trails. Break a sweat, then reward yourself with a tasting or two at a local winery or a gourmet dinner on a patio, or a picnic in a park as the notes from a concert sail through the warm evening air. Two dozen wineries will help you hydrate during these hot, dry weeks. Take a break on a winery patio with some local charcuterie or a gourmet dinner as the sun sets. Don’t forget to snap a photo of the view. Autumn? That's harvest time, from crushing grapes to baking apple pies, it's farm to table (or wine glass) season. Moments...we’ve got lots of them. Take one to savour a new favourite wine on a sun-soaked patio. Another to learn a new art form. Stare into the distance as the perfect swing sends your

relax From historical landmarks to hockey, birding to baseball, Oliver is where you can learn a thing (or two), and relax at the same time. Explore the original town site at Fairview, wind down with a walk to the beach at Tuc-el-Nuit Lake; its non-motorized mantra means hours of uninterrupted floating for those seeking quiet relaxation. Like a good recipe, Oliver lets you play with the best of its ingredients to create the perfect stay in the Wine Capital of Canada. Take a dash of the outdoors, a measure of culture, combine with creativity and top with fresh fruit and air… perfection. Each season in Oliver has its own flavour, you’ll want to try them all. From vintage to vintage, taste to taste, you'll be back for seconds.

From summer patio sipping to winter comfort food, Oliver is farm-to-table country. Whether it’s a gourmet meal, a midday break at the local bakery, or a visit to the Mexican grocer for a special spice, Oliver’s diversity of flavours tempt any palate. With plentiful activities all year, picking your favourite season is a challenge. Winter brings a hush, but with a variety of indoor and outdoor pursuits. Spring? That’s blossom season. summerland When you come to Summerland, we invite you to shift gears from life’s busy pace and just take your time. Your authentic experience of Okanagan history starts on the Kettle Valley Steam Railway, pulled through stunning countryside by the 100-yearold “Spirit of Summerland” steam engine. Hold your breath and dare to look down as the train crosses the Trout Creek Bridge, looming 238 feet above the canyon floor. With several kilometres of the Trans-Canada Trail running through town, Summerland is a perfect destination for hiking or biking, whether for an afternoon or as part of a multiday trek. Bring your camera to capture the perfect shot of Summerland’s skyline; it’s like none other in the Okanagan Valley. Our volcanic past lives on in the rugged outline of Giant’s Head Mountain. A draw for photographers and hill walkers alike, Giant’s Head Park will introduce you to the abundance of local flowers and grasses, while offering tantalizing views over Okanagan Lake. Enjoy a slow drive on our winding roads, up into the hills through lush orchards and vineyards, and down to the shores of sun-kissed Okanagan Lake. Choose a winery patio to stop for a picnic, take a meander through the Ornamental Gardens, or dig your toes into the warm sand and catch up on your tan.

Leave the world of box stores behind and stroll beneath flowers and brightly painted banners of our downtown, where small boutiques showcase one-of-a-kind finds. Whether you’re taking home a designer label or that antique you’ve always wanted, make sure you take a lingering coffee break. With two local coffee roasters, a visit to Summerland isn’t complete without taking in the atmosphere at one of our cafes. Spend a day exploring The Bottleneck Drive, made up of 14 Summerland wineries. Chat with wine makers about what makes the soil and sunshine so special for crafting the perfect Okanagan vintage. Speaking of vintage, why not let Summerland’s car museum arrange your tour in a top-down 1963 white Cadillac? Treat yourself to a loaf of fresh organic bread while watching the mill grind flour for the next batch. Sink your teeth into fresh, chilled cherries from one of our fruit markets, or let our chefs spoil you with three courses made from the freshest local ingredients. Whether you need a weekend getaway or a complete reboot, you’ll be amazed how soon you’ll settle in to a Summerland lifestyle.

PEACHLAND Peachland is the sweetest place under the sun to while away a summers day. Perfectly located between the larger centres of Penticton & Kelowna, Peachland is a small town with big things to offer. Turning off Hwy #97 to Beach Avenue is the ultimate ‘ah ha’ moment. There is a sense of being far away from the madding crowd, a throwback to a gentler era; the serenity of Peachland’s unfettered waterfront provides you with an abundance of experiences to refresh and relax. Peachland’s unparalleled Centennial Pathway extends for kilometres alongside Okanagan Lake and you can walk, run, rollerblade, skateboard or bike to your heart’s content. Swim Bay, life guard protected during the summer months, is great fun with diving boards and a zip line into the lake. It’s not all

about Beach Avenue though! In the hills of Peachland you will find first rate adventure (like Canada’s Highest Zip Line) and to add to that adventure, the breathtaking views will astonish and exhilarate you. A visit to Hardy Falls, nestled away on Deep Creek at the south end of town, is an exceptional treat in the fall -- to see nature at her finest, as returning salmon come to spawn in September-October. Besides being a fabulous summertime destination, Peachland can be your hub for an ‘any season’ stay. In the wintertime the walkway is the safest in the valley and magical at night. After your day trips to the various ski hills and Peachland’s own winter wonderland backcountry, plan to treat yourself in the sweetest place under the sun.

WEST KELOWNA

Although West Kelowna is one of the newest named communities in the Okanagan Valley, the chronicles of our area date back some 60 million years when our mountain, Mt. Boucherie was formed due to a volcanic eruption. Today this mountain stands strong and proud, having primed the area around it for lush vineyards and orchards. The land around West Kelowna has been known to produce amazing local flavours. Tomatoes and nuts were popular in the early 1900’s thanks to Mr. Gellatly’s early efforts of growing tomatoes and nut tree research. His legacy continues today through the century old working nut farm at the Gellatly Nut Farm Regional Park where visitors can harvest their own nuts, to Chef de Montreuil who tends to a chefs garden that has over a 100 varieties of tomatoes in the same spot as the former ‘Tomato King of the Okanagan’, Mr. Gellatly, had his garden. Our landscape is dotted with fruit stands, wineries and rolling hills of vineyards. Getting

It is no secret how to relax and unwind in West Kelowna; music, beach, nature. On Friday nights in the summer people head to Memorial Park to enjoy the ‘Music in the Park’ series while during those lazy sunny days they take solitude at a quiet beach or a leisurely walk along the waterfront. Imagine a place where the wild things are, free of crowds, with plenty of wide, open, spaces. Where Helmcken Falls, Canada’s fourth highest waterfall thunders and roars; just one of 39 named waterfalls you’ll find here. Where the Murtle and Clearwater Rivers flow and wildlife sightings are as common as sunrise and sunset. It’s here, among old-growth interior rainforests and soaring mountain peaks that you’ll find serenity paddling Murtle Lake, North America’s largest kayak and canoe-only lake. GoLF IN THE THOMPSON OKANAGAN Imagine this: You are standing in the tee box with three of your best friends on the planet. All three were in your wedding party - two life-long buddies and your brother. The weather is perfect, hot and dry, like most summer days in the Thompson Okanagan. As you chuckle at stories from yester-year, your eyes are darting back and forth across the fairway, carefully calculating exactly where the perfect shot will land and run perfectly up the green on this long & challenging par 4. The fairway is flanked with gigantic Ponderosa pines, and there is a slight kink to the right, which really brings that left side into play. The foursome ahead of you just tapped in their putts and put the flag back into the hole. Your group is up! You reach into your bag and confidently grab your

driver. This has excited the gang as they start in with comments of being crazy while laughing and rolling their eyes. The merriment starts to lower to a whisper and then to silence… Your stance is perfect, your little set up dance is flawless and focus is unbroken. Your backswing leads way to forward motion and finally that distinct, and sometimes elusive “crack”, rings off your driver as you stand motionless with the club draped over your shoulder. Your brother leans in, “Where did it go?” You respond with “wait for it, wait for it…” Finally the ball drops out of the air, gets a remarkable bounce and runs right up to the fringe of the green. You cheer aloud and high five the other members of your group; they can’t believe what they have just witnessed, even you are a little impressed yourself.

travelthompsonokanagan.ca | 97

WOW! That feeling of satisfaction is what people are relentlessly pursuing. At this moment in time, you are fulfilled, excited and completely free! Oh, what a feeling... There are almost too many golf course options in the Thompson Okanagan that can help you achieve this sensation, from Valemount in the north, all the way to Osoyoos and the US border in the south. Now to be fair, not all golf shots are going to be as spectacular as that one. But even if all the other shots are sprayed left & right into creeks and forests, the exhilaration from that one perfect shot has serious lasting power, enough to make your whole day feel like a success.

98 | TRAVEL EXPERIENCES 2015

If the rest of your day consisted of continuously slicing and pulling dimpled white little balls all over the map, the weather and good times with your buddies will trump that bad round on your scorecard. Even a bad day of golf in the Thompson Okanagan is an amazing experience and outright victory in life. So, if the prospect of being fulfilled, excited, and completely free interests you, grab your clubs & your friends, and play one (or many) of the many stunning courses available right next door or ever a little further afar. The Thompson Okanagan has everything that you are looking for when it comes to golf!

KAMLOOPS

Kamloops is well known for the superb conditioning of area courses, as well as the diversity. For years now, the area has enjoyed its reputation as “Canada’s Most Diverse Golf Destination” with the likes of Talking Rock, Rivershore, Sun Rivers, Kamloops Golf & Country Club, and Tobiano on the roster. In fact, there are 13 remarkable courses in the Kamloops region, each with its own unique characteristics and all are within close proximity to the city centre. Play an alpine mountain course Lee Morris Chief Executive Officer with dramatic elevation changes in the morning and a desert course surrounded by native grasses and cactus in the afternoon, all without spending hours in the car to get there. Plus, with over 2000 hours of sunshine annually, great weather for your next round is almost guaranteed. When the clubs are packed away for the day, the variety of energizing après golf activities is a treat for golfers. Live music, live theatre, casinos, local wineries, and a self-guided walking “Brew Tour” in the downtown core are proof that the fun still continues when the sun goes down. dID yOu kNoW... The Thompson Okanagan’s Highest, Hottest and Best Almost every course in the Thompson Okanagan has something that makes it unique. However, there are four courses that have very prominent distinctions that set them apart from many others. The topography of the land changes dramatically from the mountainous north of the Thompson Okanagan, to the much flatter and hotter southern region. Located west of Kamloops is a golfers paradise known as Tobiano. This eye catching, sprawling course has compiled a list of accolades that is too long to list here! In fact, they have been presented with more awards than any other modern golf course in Canada. Tobiano is considered a true gem in the Thompson Okanagan, British Columbia, Canada, and some even say in the world! Being the most recognized course sets you apart.

Positioned in the northern end of the Okanagan Valley is Predator Ridge. They too have been bestowed with so many honours, it would be overkill to outline them. But, we should touch on a few… In recent years they have awarded Best New Course in Canada, Best Hole in the Pacific Northwest, ranked #85 on The Rolex World’s Top 1000 Golf Courses, and they have a partnership that makes them the summer home for Hockey Canada. Added bonus: you can bring you best pal, Rover, along with you… Predator Ridge is now a pet friendly resort!

And lastly, the long hot days at the southern end of the Thompson Okanagan in Osoyoos & Oliver, offer a handful of superior desert golfing options. Osoyoos is renowned for being the hottest and driest region in the country, while Oliver is Canada’s Wine Capital. At the height of Headed in the other direction, less than an summer, the sun shines for 15 hours a day, hour north-east from Kamloops, you will and short winters with almost zero snow find The Golf Course at Sun Peaks Resort. gives golfers the ability to play almost year This 18 hole, par 72 track is situated round among some of the best grape vines 1,200 meters above sea level, giving it the in the country. designation of highest golf course in British Columbia. WINE & SPIRITS Thompson Okanagan wines and spirits have shattered all expectations as the world acquires a fondness for local vintages The Okanagan Valley is a rare stretch of land-- desert, semi-arid in the northern half, and fully arid in the hotter southern half. The difference between high daytime and low nighttime temperatures provides much needed acidity for the production of high quality winemaking grapes. While this area has commonly been referred to as ‘Napa North’, it is now known across the world as the Okanagan, a burgeoning wine region in its own right. Neighbouring areas have taken notice and joined in as well, with award-winning wineries in both the Similkameen & Thompson Valleys alike.

the pristine Similkameen Valley, this area is worth checking out. Winemaking in the region first gained popularity with white wines like Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer and Viognier, however there has been a surge in red vinifera vines. The climate and soil are perfect for growing Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah grapes.

There are an endless number of wineries within and around the communities of Osoyoos, Oliver and Penticton. The small community of Okanagan Falls is home to 10 wineries and many more vineyards, while neighbouring Oliver is the ‘Wine Capital Although grapes, and other fruits have of Canada’. Nestled in between Oliver & long since been grown in the Similkameen Osoyoos lies two very popular spots; to Valley, there has only been an expansion the west is the Golden Mile, soaking up the of wineries in recent years. With 13 morning sunshine, and to the east lies the vineyards & wineries stretching out in Black Sage Bench, basking in the afternoon

heat. Just recently, the Golden Mile Bench was approved as a new sub-geographical indicator for the Okanagan! Osoyoos has several wineries located in and around the town itself, including North America’s first aboriginal winery, Nk’Mip Cellars. The vineyards of Penticton and the Naramata Bench (the east side of Okanagan Lake, north of Penticton) are home to over 30 of the most acclaimed wineries in the region, and the Skaha Bench has a couple award-winning wineries that should definitely to be at the top of your wine tour list. As you head north towards Kelowna, don’t miss out on the hidden gems of the 15 wineries along Bottleneck Drive, the wine route encompassing Summerland and the edge of Peachland. The Westside Wine Trail in West Kelowna is home to some of the most accomplished winemakers in the valley including ‘Winery of the Year’ Mission Hill, and Quails’ Gate, one of Canada’s top producers of premium VQA wines. After enjoying so many wineries, take a break and make your way to Okanagan Spirits (locations in both Kelowna and Vernon), a designated World Class Distillery. As part of the Downtown Grapes & Grains route, Okanagan Spirits is joined by BC’s first winery, Calona Vineyards, as well as the newly renovated Sandhill Wines, and craft brewery, Tree Brewing Company. Take the time to experience Kelowna’s Fab Five Wine Trail with several excellent wineries located within the orchards of

112 | TRAVEL EXPERIENCES 2015

East Kelowna, as well as the Lakeshore Wine Trail that follows the shores of Lake Okanagan. Lake Country (north of Kelowna) is home to a handful of remarkable wineries and the Scenic Sip Wine Trail including Gray Monk & Ancient Hill Winery. As you make the trek above the 50th parallel, enjoy the delicate flavours that are being preserved here. Home to some of the best scenery in the region, the wineries here, like Recline Ridge & Celista Estate, have set up their properties to take advantage of this. A local honey farm, Planet Bee, is also rising in popularity with its Honeymoon Mead. With more than a dozen wineries from Lake Country to Salmon Arm, this microclimate is gaining notoriety and recognition. Kamloops is now stepping on to the viticulture stage as an up & coming wine area. Adventurous winemakers have ventured out and seen considerable success with the Thompson area. Home to four new remarkable wineries, Kamloops is definitely an area to keep an eye on! Make sure that you take the time to enjoy the weather and unparalleled scenery that creates these wonderful vineyards. These hills and plateaus are teeming with grapes & vines, row after row of them. A small tour and you will begin to understand the magnitude of the wine industry and the positive affect it has on the entire region. Sip, sample & savour the Thompson Okanagan!

Fresh & Fine Dining Casual bites or sumptuous feasts, let’s eat! In a region that is heavily laden with wineries & vineyards, it is no wonder that dining out has become an adventure in its own right. Pairing food with wine has long since been an art, and is now becoming much more common place in the Thompson Okanagan. Most of the well-known wineries (and many that you may not have heard of) have phenomenal restaurants right on their properties. Even if you are not a wine aficionado but rather like to indulge in great cuisine, make a point of sitting at one of these tables and ordering whatever your heart desires. Another great culinary destination lies among any of the dozens of championship golf courses, with signature clubhouses and gourmet fare. Food here has come a long way from a traditional burger & beer, but of course, this is also available. A common trend among restauranteurs in this region is making a point of offering locally produced and sourced ingredients. It is typical for there to be a direct relationship between chefs and local farmers/producers. This

assures the food that you are ordering is environmentally sustainable, which has become more and more important to businesses & consumers alike. Fresh ingredients are the key to absolutely delighting your taste buds! One thing you are sure to find at all Thompson Okanagan establishments is good food, great atmosphere and top-notch service. Because we are lucky enough to have outstanding summer weather, lakeside patios, vineyard terraces and rooftop dining is commonplace. Our seasonal, farm-to-table menu changes every other week. The deliciousness, however, stays all summer long. It’s true the majority of our visitors come to the winery looking for, well, our wine. But it is an unmistakable truth of wine that its very best friend is food. And that’s why the kitchen team at the Vineyard Terrace restaurant applies the very same attention to detail to its farm-to-table cuisine that our winemaking team does with our wine. And the results are every bit as exceptional. So next time you’re here for the wine, stay a little longer, enjoy the view and a fresh, seasonal meal. The two are an unforgettable combination. On that, you have our word.

We are excited to announce the arrival of our new Executive Chef, Jeremy Luypen to our Predator Ridge team! Jeremy and his team have taken the menu in a new fresh, clean flavored direction, with a focus on sustainable fishing and farming. We are working closely with both local farmers and artisan producers to bring the very best of what the Okanagan Valley has to offer fresh to your plate.
